Very well done, tho I'd really recommend keeping all textures in 16 x 16px resolution, simply because 32 x 32px looks out of place in a vanilla game, unless you are playing with a 32x resource pack. Besides that, some kind of Book of Lore might be good to have for this mod, which provides information on how some stuff works ingame, considering most of the crafting recipes are rather complicated and the behavior of some of the special blocks and items doesnt necessarily explain itself. Also I'd recommend that you redo the brick texture so it actually stacks like the vanilla brick textures. And how about, if you already make a bedrock version that can be mined, you make slab, stair and fence versions of that as well? Also you might be interested in adding some sort of plants or something to the dimension so it doesnt look as pale. I take this is the initial release so alot more is planned probably, but I dont see many people actually playing it as long as the void dimension is just as dull as the nether. Dont get me wrong, I really like the concept, and its a very good first Beta release that will get people (like me) interested in the mod. Keep up the good work! Seeing good projects like this one be released is quite a rare event, most of nowadays new mods are just plain bad. If you need help with textures, make a post on Planetminecraft. There's plenty of texturizers over there, you could alternatively also comment on some 16x16 resource pack there and ask the creator if he'd be interested in helping out.
Yea, a lot of the textures and such we're mostly placeholder, I've got another guy that'll be reworking the textures eventually. As for the void being somewhat barren, that was kind of the point though yes there is a whole lot of content planned and actually quite a bit of it is already implemented code wise, it's just not ready for release. What to expect is another dimension set for unique boss fights, it delves into my view of lore behind the two figures that speak after you defeat the End Dragon and go through the portal. And as for your suggestions, I like the idea of bedrock based cosmetic blocks since well, that block doesn't serve in other purpose (well it does in opening another portal but that's for the future) anywho i'll add that in when I can. A book of lore though, I've thought about it once a very long time ago but had since forgotten about it, I'll think of something for it.
Hi, Mike! I'm the aforementioned "guy"! Downscaling some of the textures is definitely on my to-do list (and I'll add in that bit about the bricks too). Tama and I recently started college and university respectively, so I may not get to it until next weekend. Hopefully, direwolf20 will put off doing his mod spotlight until after I get that done xD
I also write the lore for the mod. Tama and I, have some pretty awesome plans for the future. Though, writing a guidebook about the mod is NOT something I look forward to considering I can hardly pick up the ones I have to read for my classes IRL!
Bumping because well, new version which means new stuff. All in the Latest Additions of the post.
Version 0.9.6, it requires TamModized 0.2.4 so download that as well if you didn't notice that it has also been updated.
If you're crashing about Heimdall not finding some Forge Energy class then update forge. If it's still crashing then send the report to my issue tracker.

I saw your tweets about the other mod you're doing. What's it called? It looks like it would compliment Voidcraft and 1.10.2 in general very well!
AoV (Angel of Vengeance)
It's something I started back in February but due to lack of time I haven't been getting any work done on it really let alone much work on VoidCraft as I would like to get done.

Interesting! From your Github it makes me think that Angel of Vengeance may be able to represent White Mana enough that my MTG (Magic: The Gathering) themed pack can be transitioned to 1.10.2 eventually with changes/substitutions like this. I'll be checking back on both your mobs fairly often for that!

If regular is Vanilla then what flavor is your Minecraft?
New version, new stuff, it's in the "Latest Additions" like usual.
Would also like to say that I've gone ahead and added in a "Planned" section at the very bottom with what I have planned for the mod. Will get updated whenever either something in the list gets added or removed. Removed if implemented or I've decided I changed my mind about the idea.

So I'm absolutely fascinated by your mod! I'm very keen on everything void related, and am a big fan of new dimensions, so this is right up my street!
I'm currently in the process of adding it to my modpack, PurePack, available on Curse (hope that's okay!), and I noticed that you don't have a mod spotlight yet. I'd love to do one myself, but want to make sure all the correct information gets across. It would be awesome if we could meet up on Discord at some point and maybe have a chat about VoidCraft, really get the in's and out's of the mod so players can enjoy it to its full potential!
I'm totally for Modpacks, go for it, my only request is that there's a link back to either this forum thread, the curse download page, or the github repo. Any of the three are fine with me.
As for a spotlight i'm fine with that as well, I'll post it up on the curse page and this thread here if wanted. Would just need to contact me with the link so I know it's ready and what not.
And for meeting up with me, that's really hard with college starting back up and i'm already lacking on major time, it's pretty much impossible. Go ahead and ask any questions here and i'll try to respond when I can in as much detail as I can. Questions can be as long as you want, i'll get to it all.

I'm really liking the mod so far! I think for the most part, you've made it feel very organic to vanilla Minecraft. It feels like something that could be added by Mojang themselves.
One thing I'm confused about though. I'm not sure if I just keep missing something in the Mecum, but is there a more specific way to cast spells? Every time I try to cast one, it just explodes me as if I had tried to sleep in the Nether. It just says to select your spell, shift right click the Mecum, and then right click to cast the spell if you have the materials. Are spells not fully implemented yet? If not, it would probably be ideal if that was mentioned in the Mecum or there was at least a warning that you would explode. I was lucky enough to not try this inside my house, but I'm sure it's caused others a bit of tears.

Yea bit of an easter egg (It's related to the achievement) which I really should have explained before hand but decided not to, it gets mentioned as you progress through the Mysteries of the Void progression and you can actually lower that chance to explode to nothing. Starts out at 75%. The overall idea for the concept was that Voidic Magic is highly unstable and prone to explosions.
Oh, ok, that makes sense. I figured it was a deliberate feature when I got an achievement for it. Luckily, I have pretty decent armor on from the Armor Plus mod, so it was just a minor inconvenience and one hell of a surprise. Thanks for the quick reply!
I, too, was very surprised. I had the book in my hand, ready to open my first spell, when I thought maybe I should do it outside. My million dollar mansion would have been toast! As it was, the explosion didn't hurt much, but the ensuing fire burnt down half of my main building. All I can say is that, knowing magic is involved, one should be prepared for surprises.
This is a very well thought-out mod and I am really happy you created it. I only started playing it a couple of weeks ago, and I am looking forward to a lot more surprises. Thanks for your hard work, and we hope you will continue making people happy with it!
Planning Aether content? You don't have to just wait for Aether2 to complete now. Aether Legacy is an official port of the original Aether mod so you could use it to start on your ideas.

I'd much rather have the official Aether II with their new content planned, I'm more than happy to wait

For anyone who was crashing on startup, version 0.9.3 fixed the issue.

Figure I'd bump this as I've updated the mod, currently 0.9.4 requires TamModized 0.2.2

I went ahead and just added some warning text in the first entry before you actually gain your spells. You'll see this text whenever the next update comes out.
