It is fun figuring out what they like. I'm stuck on the blacksmith though. I've given him everything I can think of and he always responds with "It's alright." Once he said "You give bad gifts." Someday I will discover the perfect gift...
I have found he likes axes What made me think of giving him that was the ones in the frames in his building. I have had good luck with it.
You need to remember the most expensive thing in hf is 32k. I find Farming Valley prices absolutely ridiculous. I'd never want to spend that much time farming. All the feedback I had before that pack is it how it's too easy to get everything and how people want things to be slower and buildings a bit more expensive. I'm not designing the mod for a pack I have no control over.
As for the mine:
I appreciate your sentiment, but I've seen/known people to find the mines fine. I do agree about the animals and that, they can slow down progress a lot. Their numbers are reduced a load in the next version. I didn't even want to add elevators but I saw someone using journey map to teleport down to the lower levels... Sure they'd still do that. But I wanted a way for other people to do it legit. It doesn't cost very much at all. Sure it would probably be grindy in farming valley when you have ridiculous 400k draw controllers or goddamn insane 5 million petal apothecaries to be saving up for. But I'm not balancing for a pack I don't agree with their choice of prices on.
It's 42 floors/level btw.
Milk:
500 gold would be absolutely insane. That would make a cow make more than twice as much gold as a sweet potato/month. (And sweet potatoes are the most profitable crop). Animals producing larger products is fixed and now a chance instead of requiring an insane relationship score like before. Just has a small threshold to hit instead. Not everyone is going to enjoy it and it can just be easier to have chickens. But I'm happy with how they function.
Thanks for the response. That is very fair to point out that Farming Valley has really made the prices ridiculous. I haven't played Harvest Festival on its own and it's easy to forget that it's not necessarily the same. I went in and tweaked a lot of the FV prices to make them more reasonable because yeah, it's just ridiculous. If the price of elevators is reasonable, then they would solve the problem. Actually, using Journeymap to teleport is what I was planning on doing, especially once I realized that it's even more repetitive than I thought (unless that's FV as well). I was under the impression that once you find the portal to the next level, every time you enter the mines you start at that level. I made a creative world just to test that out and discovered that you actually have to start from floor 1 every time. That means that if I want to get to the gold level, I have to fight my way through 82 levels every single time, and I would definitely be too frustrated to do that. I can't even enjoy the first 42 levels to silver. Doing it once is one thing, doing it repeatedly is the part I don't like. So yeah, I will be excited to see elevators added. Until then, I'll probably just use Journeymap and teleport, so I can make progress in a way that feels fair to me without feeling forced to spend a lot of time doing things I don't enjoy.
Once the new version comes out, I'll have to try out cows again and see how it feels. I like the way you describe the chance to get larger products having changed. I still might not enjoy it and stick to chickens, but I'll give it a try anyway.
And thanks for always being open to feedback and responding, even when you don't necessarily agree with it. Not all mod authors are willing to do that, and it's appreciated.
I have managed to figure out how to gain a few hundred K gold a day without lifting a finger. This isn't so much a complaint as a rather amusing bit of mod interaction.
An interesting observation: one mark 3 collector is exactly enough to run one setup like this. With more hoppers, more collectors and more condensers in a 1:1:1 ratio, it should be possible to increase money production rates to about half a million per day per shipping box.

For some reason I doubt ANY mod maker can balance against EE2.

Question: When Jim says that something is a great gift because he doesn't like to be spoiled, is he being sarcastic? Is that actually a good gift, or is it a bad one? The line really confuses me.

Nope not sarcasm, he does really like 'cheap things'. In fact his favourite thing is
a stick
For things he finds 'awesome' he says: "You are ridiculous. This is an amazing gift."
For things he finds 'good' he says: "I don't like to be spoilt, so this is a great gift."
For things he finds 'decent' he says: "This is a decent gift."
For thing he 'dislikes' he says: "I can't say that I fully like this gift."
For things he finds 'bad' he says: "This was not a good choice for a gift."
For things he finds 'terrible' he says: "If you knew me at all, you would not dare to give me this."
I'm also using shaders and get the flickering during weather events that normally isn't there with vanilla weather, as well as oddities in the cave system. I know that the authors of the betweenlands and astral sorcery have included options in their configs to default to any custom shaders the user has versus what they have implemented. Maybe reach out to them and see how they accomplished such?
Thank you for the amazing mod, by the way. I'm really looking forward to your future updates.
Do torches stop the monsters in the mines from spawning? They seem to spawn no matter how well I light up the area. Also, for some reason the F7 overlay from the "more overlays" mod doesn't work in the mines. Before I go crazy trying to light up every nook and cranny, is it actually worth doing?
Thanks! I'm really looking forward to the next update. Sounds like it will make things like mining and animals a lot more palatable to me.
The mobs in the mine aren't affected by light level. They'll still spawn. Would feel silly to me to be able to get them to stop spawning. (Granted there is far too many in the 0.5 version xD).
So am I only able to harvest crops that I plant, or other crops from villages? Also, how do I harvest with the sickle? I've tried so many times and in different ways, but nothing. It just destroys the crops.
Vanilla crops are disabled. You can't harvest them.
The sickle is only for harvesting wheat and grass. It will destroy other crops. The others are harvested by right-clicking when they're ripe. When the seasons change and the old crops die, you can use the sickle to clear out the dead ones.
I have a request, I would like to use your mod in a Adventure Style Pack how ever I really need players to be allowed to farm any kind of crop at any time of year. The pack is themed in space and there really are no seasons in space. I would go with another mod but really yours is just the best, the animals look awesome, the crops look and work so cool and I want to limit what people can craft but you do not need to craft anything to cook and use the food in your mod so its perfect. So my request is a config setting, that can be false by default, that would let any crop be planted any time of year.

*adds code that makes any pack with tough as nails(weird mod for that pack) make everything sell for 10x as much gold. Doubt that would help much.*
pls remove harvest moon hearts and add stardew valley hearts. Pls take into consideration. Thx
If you looked at the previous page you can see that I'm already doing something like that.
How do I start with cooking
And for the mod author
Which game do u like the most. Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon
To start with cooking, build the cafe, then talk to Liara upstairs. She will give you the cooking tutorial.

If I'm rude to you, just tell me. Don't take it too personally. Well, unless you were being stupid. If you were, DO take it personally.

Do I have to summon the 'goddess' ? Anyway around it?
I see the 666 in the Top right hand corner....
