I've learned the hard way that trains are dangerous. Let's just say that it isn't a good idea to run in front of an EMD F7 traveling faster that 100 km/h.
It's really weird. I am hosting a server for myself and my friends but whenever I try and place a diesel loco, the game causes the server to crash and I have to re-upload the world. Steam locos and redstone fine. Just diesel. Any ideas?
it's weird probably my world hates trains because the bug only happens in my main world
If you have been constantly updating the TC mod there is probably NBT corruption in the map . Back up your map . you'll need to delete your data folder and any folders and config files related to the TC mod . Remove all your mods then run your Forge 1.7.10 profile . Forge will ask to back up map say yes . Forge will purge all the NBT mod stuff from the map . Next run the 1.7.10 vanilla profile , then shut down . If there is no chunk damage , you do not need to run chunk repair .
Your map is now clean . You can lay down your track and things should work . Some rules maintain 2 blocks between trains and 3 blocks on any turn
any less will cause slowdowns and derails .
Learned this by comparing NBT data and block ID's on original backup map from more than a year ago , to a copy being used currently .
solved chunk loading errors , all kinds of derailment and overlap issues . Tested with latest commit

oh man don't make me remember the 2 months pain I suffered when updating that world from 1.6.2 to 1.7.10, but THANK YOU for helping i will try this out and see what happens
alright after doing what you suggested the world was completley destroyed and corrupted
But i did a backup as you said (and even if i didn't win7 makes them for me automatically yay) and started over and deleting only the traincraft stuff appears to fix it but i will need to test it and see if trains are correctly saved consistently

Good to hear . For me , the crashing caused chunk corruption . I had laid down a cobblestone base so putting all the track back on the map was easy.
My map had lots more non modded builds , that i did not want to transfer to a new map , to much work . When you remove all the mods and run Forge it creates a backup map and purges all the mod data from the original . You end up with a vanilla map . Funny thing , moving my cleaned map that was made on Windows 10 to Linux Mint , my curved tracks became Ender Block . Forge had changed some Block ID's .
Good Luck .
Will there ever be a way to put down rail for a long distance without putting down every single piece? I switched to the Real Train Mod because of this (and more realistic trains-no offense-) for a bit but now they switched to 1.12.2 and I'm having trouble with it.
For example something like world edit, you can click to blocks and it places down what ever block you want.

you can try using the tracks builder, but AFAIK it still only works with non-TC rails (I.E. vanilla or railcraft tracks), but they still work with TC trains.

I forgot about vanilla rails ._.
Aren't the rails 3D now? I haven't installed any new updates since 007.

- if you wanna make some custom content you'll probably want to wait till the rewrite as we're holding off on contributions till then so I can actually get some time to work on it for once. The only other way is doing an add-on mod for it but we don't have any API's setup for that so it's not an easy task even if you know java, the rewrite will have add-on pack bases though to make it much easier.
- The slope bug is not fixed unfortunately, as are a lot of bugs with the rails, the entire system is just a hopeless spaghetti mess. But if you haven't upgraded since 007, you really should, there's been a huge amount of content added since then and dozens of other bugs fixed.
- The track builder only supports vanilla and railcraft rails, however it should work with the rewrite's rails as well and that part specifically is planned to release ahead of the content later this month or next.
As for the version updates and porting everyone is talking about, the current port is going to remain 1.7.10, with only a couple more updates left in its lifespan.
The rewrite is also still planned to start out on 1.7.10 so people can transfer their stuff. But I've taken more than plenty of time to plan ahead for porting it to newer versions so there won't be issues and so it won't take long.
I'm not jumping straight to 1.13 or 1.12 either, a lot of users are still back on old versions like 1.8.9 because their fav mods never left it, and I don't wanna leave anyone behind here, so I will be covering 1.7.10, 1.8.9, 1.9, 1.10, 1.11, 1.12, and depending on how much json they force me to use, 1.13.
(my plans for console and mobile were canceled because their API's are pure json and, crazy as I am to maintain a mod across 6 versions of minecraft, I ain't crazy enough to treat .json as an actual modding language)
Hi, I have a problem. I have a kind of bug and it makes the world look so ugly and affects other blocks. Can someone help me, this is the bug:
There's a lot of potential reasons for this bug. The reason for it is that something called the opacity function in GL and didn't clean up after themselves.
It can be anything from a bug in vanilla slimes to strongboxes and iron chests.
Your best option is to just make a new superflat world using the same modpack, place a TC track (because I know it's not our fault), and then just try different blocks from different mods till the bug happens again.
Theoretically graphical enhancement/modification mods like optifine could prevent this as well, but those are always a "your mileage may vary" situation.
I´ve installed Traincraft under forge 1.7.10 and have got it working except one part. The traincraft blocks/items are not rendering okey in the inventory. They work when placed in the world. What is wrong?
(see picture)
update traincraft to latest version . if your video drivers can be updated do that as well
Can you make working Pantos

Anybody still working on this mod?
yeah we're still working on it ^^
thanks for updating the mod, hopefully i can play my world again, it is very frustrating to have to replace the trains every world load
well, it didn't work, i'm so sad

No crash report - no help.
We have a hard time replicating this issue. But we're working on a solution.

Oh also, is there a way to make/model/texture your own train? I want to add in a Shinkansen but doubt anyone would add it.
(Since I haven't been on this thread in a long time) Did the slope glitched get fixed?

Geeze, I need to check this forum more often....
At any rate...

Is it possible to change the horns of the locos??
You may be able to use a resource pack to change the sounds for them.
With the rewrite we will be adding a bunch of new sounds for all the trains.
