Allows players to mine whole veins of ore, cut down whole trees or any other tool based action in one go. Simple easy to understand configs are also provided for mod pack developers such as tool or block black listings, size limits and tick rate.
Features:
- Mine whole ore veins
- Cut down whole trees
- Works with almost every tool
- Tool blacklist (can invert to whitelist)
- Block blacklist (can invert to whitelist)
- Configurable speed, size, distance and cost
- Control preferences per client
- Per tool overrides for pack developers
- Ore dictionary support for blacklisting and overrides
- In game configuration with no restart/reload necessary
- Built-in TPS guard prevents major game slow down
- Configurable shape mining
- Undo command in case of mistakes
- Customisable block grouping
Note:
- Wooden tools are disabled by default. Edit the overrides.json in your config folder if you'd like to use them. The reason for this is to provide an example for pack developers to refer to.
- Because of some outdated input libraries in Minecraft the excavation key may not work correctly on non-US based keyboards. Try refraining from binding symbols or special characters to this key.

I noticed that the wooden axe doesn't remove the entire or at least a larger portion of an oak tree. What it does do is chop only 1 block at a time. I suspect this has something to do with the overrides json file. What should I change in that json file to allow the Wooden axe to chop down the entire oak tree?

If you simply remove the entry for those tools within that file it will restore their functionality to the default config settings.
It represents the same value in the main config just specific for that tool. It's the limit of blocks it can excavate in one go. This way you can make a diamond pick harvest way more than stone so tiered tool progression is preserved.

Is there any way to make the items "pop" into your inventory the way veinminer does? Since this mod was added to the skyfactory 2.5 pack and I veinmine stuff it just drops them all over where they broke now instead of popping into my inventory. Very unexpected and I lost a lot of blocks to the void finding out this change the hard way.

EDIT: Update. I didn't understand the mode setting. The default is SNEAK, not Keybind. Nevermind.
I'm trying to use this mod to replace vein miner, which is having some weird load time issues for me on 1.10. However, I can't seem to make this mod work at all, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
I'm using MC 1.10.2, Forge 12.18.2.2099 (the recommended version for 1.10.2). I've tried version 1.26 and 1.28 of this mod, but it doesn't make any difference. For testing, I created an entirely new profile, empty config folder, with this as the ONLY mod installed.
No matter what block I hit, and no matter what tool, open hand, or any config option I change, it only mines a single block.
I'm trying to harvest a tree, both the blocks and the leaves. I've tried empty hand, wood axe, stone axe, and iron axe. Only the block I hit is broken.
Thoughts?
P.S. Vein Miner does work, and I assume this mod works pretty much the same. Hold grave, use tool, mine more than one block.

I might be a little late to reply but this is now a thing in Ore Excavation also. Should help in future.

I might just default Ore Excavation to keybind mode seeing as that is what most people are used to. Let me know if you run into any other issues with the mod.
New update I've just posted includes a very neat config feature called TPS Guard. It will automatically slow down ongoing excavations if the host's TPS starts to drop below optimal speeds. This can be handy on servers where many people are excavating large areas causing major slowdowns for others such as those in combat where latency could mean death.
OE is working with most of the ores in the pack that I'm working on, except for ores from Mekanism and Cyclic. They're seemingly standard ores (Tin, etc). What are some possible cases where OE may not detect ores from another mod? Does it need support for other mods specifically? Or does it look for ore dictionary entries and the other mods that aren't working just aren't providing something that the others are?
Also, I love this for server play. The MiningScheduler is a great way to support many people using this all the time.
Love the structure and play. Any suggestions for why it might be working on and off? Trees works well, only occasionally on ores, regardless of ore or tool. Thank you

Mekanism has an unusual way of adding ores into Minecraft which makes it very hard for OreExcavator to know if one ore is the same as the other. Every ore in Mekanism has the same block and item type and can only be distinguished by item metadata or block state properties.

If you're playing on a server with a slow connection it could take slightly longer for the server to ping the client with a excavation check. Alternatively if the client has 'Must Hold' enabled then an ongoing excavation could be cancelled mid harvest by releasing the excavation key early. If neither are your issue double check your configurations for various blocks tools.
I have found that the 1.11 version prevents you from breaking anything with your empty hands (with or without using the key bind), it creates a invisible glitch block. Same applies for redstone. Please Fix ASAP
I don't understand how this mod works. No matter which tool I use to mine or cut down trees with it only mines a single block? Do I have to hold a specific key while mining? If yes, why isn't this written down in the first post?
Because there are multiple potential modes this mod can be configured but the default mode is a keybind in your controls menu. Wooden tools are also disabled by default but can be removed from the overrides JSON file in your config directory.
In case anyone missed it, you can now shape mine with Ore Excavation. Check your controls menu for how to activate it:
I have actually got a lot of use out of this new feature from the latest version. I have not done much earth-digging with it yet, but it is super useful for trees and — perhaps my most-utilized area for this mod — Roguelike Dungeons. Removing entire stairwells and replacing them with rope (from Literal Ascension), digging 3x3 ‘shortcuts’ with a single keybinding, and carving out a hole in the wall to refill on cobblestone. There is just so much I can do with this mod.
This is easily now one of my ‘essential’ mods (along with Inventory Tweaks, JourneyMap, Schematica, and a few others), meaning I generally refuse to update Minecraft until all these mods are updated. Though, you update the mod pretty quickly anyway, which is pretty awesome.
Keep up the good work. Let me know when (or if) you get a donation link of some sort so I can help support the future of this fantastic mod.

I actually have a Patreon page and Paypal for donations but I don't openly advertise them most of the time because I tend to do modding for fun but any support is greatly appreciated.
Hello here, i'm trying to understand the shape feature but i find no way to use it, trying to press Right+Left click at same time like on the picture, nothing happen. Is this normal ? How can i "change shape mode" ? I'm trying the 2 keybind of the mod, the first is fine, it mine the whole blocks group like veinminer but the second ... i dont know, what i need to do after making a shape ?
EDIT : i found how to change shape (ctrl+ "rmenu" keybind) so i tryed some shape and i checked the config file where it seem that the tool i'm trying to use (compressed hammer) to break compressed cobble in gravel and it work with the pickaxe but not with the hammer is this normal ?
hmm maybe it dont work because turning 1 block into 9 block make it impossible ?
I am having the single-block-at-a-time issue like many others here I have re-keybound both the grid and excavate to the keys I want. I can cycle through the different grids but even with stone or iron tools I cannot excavate. I checked the "oreexcavation_overrides.json" file and all it says is {"overrides": [ ] }
Can you let me know what it should say in here? I would love to be able to use this mod.

Not sure how the experience works, but giving it any value beside 0 will make the mod only mine 1 block.

Experience means you need XP to use excavations and that config is the cost per block harvested
