NOTICE:
Due to the fact that all the current bugs are nothing I can fix (double-hand bugs with Shaders and body errors with Animation), and the fact that this mod was supposed to be a one-off mod, I am formally discontinuing support. The code is open-source, however, so anyone who wants to continue the project is free to do so. I don't expect someone to do so (dreamers are a dime a dozen), but if someone happens to do just that let me know and I'll lock this thread and re-direct all people to the new thread.
This mod does one thing and one thing only: renders your body while in first-person view.
Not much else to say about that...
What can be said about Realistic First-Person Rendering (RFPR) is that it's right here, right now, and won't crash on you. RFPR does not use coremods or reflection, as it only consists of a single class file. It uses the default rendering system in Minecraft, which makes it 100% compatible with mods like Optifine, Mo' Bends (thanks GoblinBob!), and Better Animations. The single class file makes updating a breeze, so I'm able to bring it to you in a slew of versions. Like all my mods, 1.7.10 will be supported forever.
Pressing F1 will cycle you through the various mode. You can change the properties of these modes in the config file, and even delete and add new modes. By default, 5 modes are enabled. They are:
Beware that shaders breaks mode 1, so if you end up with two hands (or three) that's shaders getting in the way. I will not fix shaders-based bugs! They stem from a failure to use the event system in rendering calls and are beyond my power to fix.
Also note that some items, like maps, will use default to a mode with 2D arms instead of 3D arms when held. This is because these items only work when rendered with 2D arms. By default, maps, compasses, and clocks cause this switch. There's a spot in the config file for you to add other items (or delete one of the aforementioned ones) should you wish.
Take a look at what you get with your download, and then give it a whirl. You'll be surprised at what you've been missing!

Nifty!
EDIT: Just gave it a try, works like a charm! Only problem I had was the compatibility with Mo' Bends, I think that's the problem anyway. It puts my head just a smidge too far back, & I can see a bit too much of my body when I look down, including this weird thing called a 'neck'. Never heard of it before, but the villagers tell me they're common among humans.
EDIT to my previous EDIT: No, scratch that. The neck is too far forward with or without Mo' Bends. Is there a way to scoot the camera position forward just enough?
Now look, buddy. I'm an Engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like 'what is beauty', because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems. Like, how am I going to stop some big, mean mother-hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind? The answer: Use a gun. And if that don't work: Use more gun. Like this heavy-caliber, tripod-mounted little ol' number designed by me. Built by me. And you'd best hope, not pointed at you.
I guess this is a good alternative till the improved first person mod gets updated. Thanks for not making me wait so long for some better first person action!
We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? -The Doctor
Roughly 95% of Minecraft players hate Villagers and would be very happy if they were removed. If you are one of the 5% who actually like villagers, copy this into your signature and hope it never happens. ~EnderDude124
Umm... the 1.10.2 version doesn't work. I put it in my mods folder then open up my game and click mods and it says "Example Mod" and it the mod is only 2 kilobytes, shouldn't it be larger?

*Using 1.7.10
Let start of by saying thank you so much for creating a 1.7.10 support and all those that come after. I was surprised to see this mod be updated by seeing a post from the thread of first person mod. I for one sincerely appreciate your assistance in creating this mod. Thank you.
I just tested this in 1.7.10 and got it working, but there are conflicts when using More Player Models ad Armours Workshop. It's very small. The second layer on head shows up. Also, in Armours Workshop, when applying a head creation. **I'll attach images.
Also, I have a question if its possible to offset the mod more toward. In this video t shows when the person looks down, It looks more accurate when looking down. The mod you created shows the neck area. If it was possible to config or change so you can look down only the body, It would be more better.
Since you created this, I would like yo ask you if it's easy or difficult to created a mod than can toggle of body parts, head, or lower body? (Maybe a invisible potion that can only affect certain parts of the body. I'm asking this because I'm creating a roleplay and am unable to find a mod than can do this. This mod I'm describing combining with Custom NPCS and More Player Models would give you the ability to solve a creative problem. A simple drag and drop invisible body parts armor or something like that. I would possible donate to you or anyone that can create this. It would save hours of time creating transparent skins.
Again, Thank you so much for creating this mod.
p.s. I don't know if you the answer to this, but I have a mac and can't figure out how to fix the white artifacts that is in my minecraft worlds. Mainly appears on characters. You can also see it on the between neck and arms in picture.
For those of you who have troubles with 1.10: go get version 9.4 or wait until Curse approves my new 1.10 version.
For those of you with the helmets that are rendering: are those things that go in your armor slots? They shouldn't render if that's the case.
I'll get to work on the head positioning. It's not hard to move the player model a hair back.
Don again great work on the mod but for some reason when travelling an a horse, plane or boat the faster you go the further away/back your body moves I don't know why but once again great work on the mod.
Armor Workshop has its own armor slot ui. More Player Models has a edit second layer head. It can make the hair solid, not solid, or gone completely. Maybe have a workaround for those two mods?
Edit: Ill post a video soon on the problem.
thank you so much!

Really cool to see this mod done again but the camera needs to be scooted up because when I look down I see the top of my body rather than the front of my body. The screenshot comes from Minecraft 1.8.9
I also tried the 1.10.2 version which resulted in no body being shown. I tried with and without Optifine and on two different forge versions 1.10.2-forge1.10.2-12.18.1.2046 and 1.10.2-forge1.10.2-12.18.12011

Here is the render problem with More Player Models and Armours Workshop. I will first show More Player Models, then Armours Workshop.
MPM is at 0:10
Armours Workshop is at 0:35
Versions:
[1.7.10] Armourers-Workshop-1.7.10-0.38.1.98
[1.7.10] MorePlayerModels_1.7.10b
Go grab a new version. I'm not sure if the custom hairpieces will go away, but the helmets should. Neck issues should also be fixed.
As to invisible body parts: that's actually pretty easy to do. Forge has an event system that fires prior to rendering a player. You can also change parts of a model to make it not render. Put those two together and you've got an invisibility mod, or RFPR if you put them together backwards. Can't say I know about the white artifacts. I'm on Linux which has it's own set of quirks.
If you really want to thank someone, thank Wolfaider down there \/\/\/\/\/. He's the one who brought it to my attention, and I figured I owed him a favor after all the hard work he's been putting in on my Minecraft Flight Simulator mod.
Go grab a new version. For some reason there's an update lag in Minecraft that doesn't occur in my dev environment.
Go grab a new version. I've scooted the player model back a bit so the head looks down and to the front, rather than into the neck. Nice skin, though. The Don can appreciate a good suit!
Oh, and the first 1.10.2 version I released didn't actually have a mod in it . You'll have to re-download it.
Go grab a new version. I was overriding the helmet rendering by making the model invisible, but apparently this doesn't work for custom helmets. The new 1.7.10 version should kill any render that comes from a helmet-armor.
Are you fixing the view model for all versions or just the latest? If so, I'm screwed. I only use 1.7.10, anything past 1.8 doesn't feel like Minecraft anymore.
Now look, buddy. I'm an Engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like 'what is beauty', because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. The look down to body looks so much better. ^^ The helmet/second layer is still visible though. *Not using armor slots btw. Still great though. Great job!
I don't know if you do requests, but I'd like to ask for help in creating a mod that can make parts of the body invisible. More like a armor type item that you or "custom npcs" characters can wear to make parts, lower body, and head invisible. I wouldn't normally ask another person for help, but I am desperately looking for this kind of mod, but am unable to find it.
What do you mean by view model? If it's the head position that should already be in 1.7.10.
Don't worry about outmoding with me. I do all my coding in 1.7.10 and then port it all forward on the fly. Each update gets a little faster as I get more and more common classes...
If you're not using armor slots, then it's the other mod that's misbehaving. It probably assumes that whenever a player is rendered they will be in third-person, which is a logical assumption 99% of the time. It's much simpler for them to just not render the headgear if the player is in first-person, versus me finding a way to stop it from rendering, so send this issue over to them.
I don't normally do requests, as they usually turn out to be more complicated than what most people think. Still, you're free to send me a PM. Your mod idea doesn't sound too complex, but I'd like to figure out what exactly you want prior to committing.
Oh thank Notch. You are a lifesaver.

Yeah, the render does show. It's easier to just disable it from the mods instead. Thanks.
Ok. Thank you. I'll send you details.
So I downloaded the latest version of the mod, made sure I was using latest forge, and logged into a single player world to test. The result was an invisible body so I made a new world which then showed the body. I then tried some servers and one worked and the other didn't work. I decided to make a video of this bug so it could be shown in action.

Holy crap. I've always wanted the 1st person view mod to be updated to later version, and here it is. But i dont know what to use it for
That's due to me registering the mod incorrectly with the Forge event system. Give version 3.1.0 a go and let me know what happens.
I noticed that behavior when I was doing some early tests. I'm 90% sure it's a Forge/Minecraft bug, as it only shows up in my development environment. I even tried removing all the RFPR code and I still had that error. Why it doesn't show up in the regular game on my end I can't say.
I also noticed that if I exit the world and go back in the error is gone. Not sure why that works but it does.
