FF OreDetectors Mod is a Minecraft mod that provides new items for detecting ore blocks.
Usage
An ore detector, when anywhere in the inventory, will periodically beep whenever there
is a block of the particular ore type nearby. When held, the ore detector will beep
faster when facing in the direction of the closest ore block, and louder the closer
the block is to the player. "Using" the item (holding right-click) will activate long
range detection mode, until the player stops using the detector. Long-range detection
will damage the detector.
Supported Ore Types
Detectors can be built for the following types of ore.
This looks really cool. It's not like those other cheaty mods where you just press a button and it shows you where the ore is, this is balanced. Also, I know there really wouldn't be a point considering it's so common, but could you add one for coal, just for consistency reasons? In vanilla, they have healing arrows and other useless arrows, but they're in there just to make it consistent.
Maybe they should under tools in creative
P.S. There are 2 translucent pixels that mess up the texture.
I just returned to play minecraft after a while, last I play was a 1.7.10, a lot of effort to set a server with the mods and plugins I wanted, on of them Ellian's Material Detector. The cool of this mod is be able to see cross-sections of terrain, the bad, that is too easy to find the ores.
The past weekend I try to set a 1.11.2 server but I failed to find all the mods and plugins for this version. So have to set a 1.10.2 server, and with the
FF Ore detectors mod I complete the mods I required. Game play is better with the mechanics of this mod.
I Tried to use mod_ffOreDetectors_forge-1.12-1.0.jar on a forge-1.12.2-14.23.5.2768-universal.jar and then on a forge-1.12-14.21.1.2387-universal.jar server, but no success in either one.

Updated for 1.12.x
Hello,
I Tried to use mod_ffOreDetectors_forge-1.12-1.0.jar on a forge-1.12.2-14.23.5.2768-universal.jar and then on a forge-1.12-14.21.1.2387-universal.jar server, but no success in either one.
I rewrite the file mcmod.info,
the line: "mcversion":"1.12"
I changed to: "mcversion":"1.12.2"
And then use ./gradlew build
It now works in the cliente side, but not in my forge server (forge-1.12.2-14.23.5.2838-universal.jar).
