If the message is on the screen, you just open the world map and the menu is there.
EDIT: I have seen cases where people had multiple unrelated map mods installed, so pressing M opened the wrong map mod. Maybe that's the issue.

* Fixed world map components being loaded for worlds that are never joined.
* Likely fixed the issue of disconnecting on game join that some people have been experiencing. Although you need to update the minimap mod too, since it was an issue in both mods.

* Compatible with Xaero's Minimap / Better PVP 20.18.0 or newer. Version 20.22.0 is recommended.
* (1.16.3) Upgrade to 1.16.3. The 1.16.3 version is still compatible with 1.16.2.
* (Forge) Added a fallback renderer for patreon capes for when Optifine is installed because Optifine completely overrides them now.

The 1.0.3 version for Fabric has also been ported to 1.16.3.

* Reworked map shading/slopes. Should give the map a better feeling of depth and improve the appearance in general. You can still use the old shading by choosing "Legacy" in the "Terrain Slopes" option. Toggle the option to OFF and back to "Default" to force a full map refresh.
* Increased multiplayer map data save version. Older mod versions will not be able to load files saved by this one. This version should still be able to load older map data.
* Fixed block light brightness inconsistency with the minimap.
* Fixed rare errors (in form of lines) in slope shading.
* (1.7.10 - 1.15.2) Fixed modded biome ids not being saved as 32 bit integers (instead of 8) when necessary.
- Removed some old unnecessary code.

1. I see that it was asked for back in 2017 - I'm also one of your users who would love to see the underground map in Wolrld Map, not just Mini Map! I understand that this would use additional resources, but wouldn't that only apply while using the World Map? Would it be possible to make this a toggle option in the settings? As for resources, with modern computers, I wouldn't think this would be an issue. And if it is, making it a toggle for lower power computers would be the best of both users.
2. One thing that I'm really missing coming from JourneyMap is seeing my pets (any tamed animal like a cat, dog, horse, donkey) in a different dot color than other friendly mobs (this would be an additional option in the settings to set the custom color). This will make it Sooooo much easier to identify them on the minimap when I get dismounted, let them roam, or lose them while leading!
3. Oh! I almost forgot a really, really big request! In World Map, please make it an option to change the player marker color! I just recently (a few days ago!) made it into the Nether and I find it incredibly difficult to see the red player arrow on top of the red map. I would think this would also be an issue with someone who is color-blind.

1. It's not that modern computers can't handle cave maps at all, it's more about people expecting a map mod to not drop the framerate even by 1%. They expect that especially if they have a good machine. And going from 200 FPS to 150 FPS is apparently unplayable, which would be totally fine in almost any other game dev context (or if it was 150 to begin with). So the people with good machines, who will toggle on the feature, will be the ones to complain first. I know I can ignore them but I don't like ignoring people.
That being said, I do have some ideas for how I can implement a form of cave maps without noticeably affecting the performance. A lot more can now be done in comparison to 2017 due to some of the more recent changes to the mod. It will obviously not be as flexible as the minimap cave mode. It might get pretty close in singleplayer, since everything is generated from the world save. As for multiplayer, the best solution would probably be something similar to the current Nether mode. Otherwise the cave maps for each Y level would be barely generated/discovered, since the mod can't update the multiplayer map data for each possible Y range (from top to bottom of the cave map) at all times regardless of your current Y level, even if you have the best machine out there. Anyway, while writing this, I gave a lot of thought to the idea, so I'm a lot more excited about implementing it now. You definitely put it higher on my priority list.

2. This has been suggested before and I'm going to look into it! Meanwhile, you can try the "Entity Name Tags" minimap setting if your pets are named.
