In regards to having the full map displayed at the start -- no. As far as I'm aware, Xaero's world map has no way to do this.

If you would like a server-side map, I would suggest using Dynmap: https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/dynmap.274/

Everything is explained in detail on Dynmap's wiki page, which you can find on the Spigot page.

This mod is now partially server sided too, but you are correct, having the whole map at the start in multiplayer is currently not possible.

Thanks! You currently can't view singleplayer map data in multiplayer. It's something I'm planning to add a workaround for in the future.

* Compatible with Xaero's Minimap / Better PVP 20.23.0 or newer. Version 20.28.0 is recommended.
* Fixed the map writing becoming way too slow when you have a high framerate but a very busy CPU. Affected mostly people who record videos or stream. The slowing down was supposed to only happen during lag spikes to restore the framerate. Should work better now.
* Fixed the map still "yeeting" when scrolled for some people. Mouse movements used for velocity calculations are now tracked all the time instead of just during the mouse button press.

* (1.7.10 - 1.12.2) Fixed incompatibility with AgriCraft causing crashes. Probably fixes issues with some other mods as well.
* Reworked map writing frequency calculation. There is now a target time for an amount of work. The target time is dependent on the render distance and things should stay almost the same for higher render distances. Lower render distances will be affected by a new minimum target time. Refreshing the map as fast as previously on lower render distances wasn't necessary. This will give those who use it a performance boost. Players who use lower render distances probably need it.

* Once again reworked how map writing pace is calculated. Basically reversed to the 1.11.2 method but with a much improved performance stabilizer. There is also still the minimum target time from 1.11.3, so it is kind of the best of both worlds.
* (1.12.2) Fixed coremod compatibility issues with some mods. For example, an older version of 5zig.
* Fixed compatibility with OpenGL older than 1.5.
* Removed the weird line glitch next to the player arrow.
* Fixed world map waypoints and player arrow not respecting GUI scale. These elements should now scale up when GUI scale is above 4.
* Changed maximum waypoints scale to 5 and renamed the config option to reset it.

The server I play on just updated from 1.15.2 to 1.16.4. I updated to the latest versions of the Minimap & World Map mods then opened the game and found that the in-game data from both mods seemed to have been reset. Meaning that none of the world appeared explored on the world map, and all of my waypoints were gone.

I thought of an idea & tried it out. There were several folders in my .minecraft\XaeroWorldMap folder that had names indicating they were for this server. Then when I logged back into the game I was able to select that map and all the area I've explored before reappeared (success!). I also copied the dimension_config & server_config files from the old server folder to the new one, then I was also able to go into the Waypoints menu and from the dropdown menu find the correct list with all my current waypoints (another success!).

But here's the problem: the waypoints do not show up on the world map like they used to. They show in-game and on the minimap, but I cannot get them to display on the world map, which I really need to have happen. How can I fix this?

Was the server address changed? What you're describing indicates that but I don't think you've mentioned it. Updating the Minecraft version doesn't cause anything like this.

The world map doesn't display the waypoints because you're simply viewing the waypoints from another server address. The world map only displays the waypoints meant for the map that you are viewing. You can swap waypoints data by doing Options -> Make World/Server Auto after you select the old server address from the top-left dropdown menu.

EDIT: By the way, using the ingame map menu, you can delete the maps you don't use and also rename the one you use.

No. Infinitely large images are not possible to be held uncompressed in RAM before export. I'm planning to add some options for multiple images export and for selecting an area for export.

You said that you copied over a map sub-folder. What was the difference between the old and new server folders? If it wasn't the server address, then you have copied a map between dimensions. Could it be that the server now uses a unique dimension key for each world? You can switch to the "Single" map selection mode, if that's the case. And you might have to copy maps for other dimensions too.

And yes, you should do "Make Sub-World Auto" if that is what is there.

And if I'm right, then copying "server_config" had no effect. It's only read from the default overworld directory, while you're likely in a separate dimension (that looks like overworld) now.

EDIT: So yeah, my bad. Kinda forgot that this can happen, so I assumed it was the server address.

EDIT2: Added more stuff about restoring world maps in the main thread post, which should include this case now.

Update 1.11.5 (MC 1.12.2, 1.8.9):

* Compatible with Xaero's Minimap / Better PVP 20.23.0 or newer. Version 20.29.0 is recommended.
* (Forge) Incomplete extended blockstate detection should now skip vanilla blocks.
