Mostly, I've been using C&B and FCB to create composite blocks that help me solve various design issues with my buildings. Very useful for that! The glowing blocks have been really helpful with creating lighting effects without the need for an apparent lighting source.
I've been experimenting with simple bit models. A flat panel television. Bar of soap with bubbles on. Etc. Nothing terribly complicated, but I have created this very nice red brick and wrought iron fence, and I feel happy enough with it that I thought I'd share. The lamps on top are from the Decoration Mega Pack mod.
I was really pleased with how much detail I could coax out of the blocks, and how simple it was to work out all the sections I would need, and then repeat them over and over in creative mode.
I'm a big fan of pixel art, and I'm glad to see a game like Minecraft and mods like this where the art form continues to live on.
Sorry, but I don't see a reason to make FCB something that only one person can use, They are simple blocks that are no different then cobble stone you can't break a server with them.
If your really set on restricting players on your server from using a decoration mod you can use another mod like minetweaker to disable the recipe, I don't think i'll be adding a config for it.
It just seems wrong to me to disable an entire mod cause your not an OP.

Which version are you using for the light update issue?

Thanks for sharing, really like the details on the fence as well as the overall look. Also love how you worked the lamps and other custom architecture together to create a a seamless feel to it, really feels like on cohesive design.
Quickly getting the hang of this. I built a cherry blossom orchard, so naturally, I just had to build a Japanese bridge to go with it! The bits came from ebony and cherry wood plank blocks from Biomes O' Plenty.
Also made custom trim for this sliding hatch door from Malisis Doors. The blocks surrounding the hatch opening are half stone brick and half grass block, with pink flower ground cover tiles simulated on the grass part to match surrounding full grass blocks.
So, I made a chiseled block by taking one bit plane off the top of a cobblestone block and replacing it with a one bit layer from a red flat colored block. However, MC wouldn't let me place a bed on them which I am assuming means it didn't think they were solid blocks. Is there any way to fix this?

Unfortunately the bed checks to see if the block is "isFullyOpaque" to be able to place the bed. Which would require a forge patch to change, and likely has to do with the re-spawn conditions, which is why floating beds don't let you re-spawn, so that would have to be changed as well.
Not sure it would be that beneficial to track everything down just so that beds could be placed on bits.

Firstly, thank you for making these extremely impressive mods! I only stumbled upon them a few days ago and I'm loving them!
Now, my apologies if this is a an amateurish question, but it's driving me up the wall here. How do I change the crafting block from cobblestone to hardened clay blocks for Flat Colored Blocks 1.9.4? I've tried changing S:solidCraftingBlock=cobblestone to S:solidCraftingBlock=hardened_clay in the config file but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't seem to figure this out, either within the mod, or perhaps with another mod (let me know if there's an addon to this mod or something that does this...), but, how can I copy a multiblock object I've created with this mod? For example, I've created a cube object that's 27x27x27 bits, and would love to be able to copy the whole thing.

At the moment you can only work with copying the blocks that make up that object, so in this case it would be 2x2x2 blocks. ( Creative Pick Block, or Positive Patterns would be used here. )
I have plans to work on a feature that allows copying and sharing of larger structures, but its still in development, and I've been lacking in time to give it the final push(s) it needs to make it out into the wild.
-stone/cobblestone chisel (cut any woods) except stones. -Iron chisel (cut any woods and stones or block) except obsidian
-Diamond chisel (cut any woods + Stones + Obsidian)
this should make it fair to use this mod with good tools that anyone can do that in survival, not creative world.
edit: this is amazing mod.. after i have seen few pictures.. some shocked me.. and some made me jealous.. hahaha.
edit 2: Never mind.. i just checked out the mod.. and see that you already done these suggestion.. and i didn't noticed that you add a saw... do you mind making 3 type of saw like this
stone saw
Iron saw
Diamond saw (which you already have done)
I will use them to make vertical slab.. and then use chisel to make shapes or whatever..

Blocks have hardness and harvest ability, however items do not; ( Blocks in your inventory are Items ) to work around that I opted to make only a single saw that works on all harvest levels rather then having to hard-code everything by hand, mod blocks would require the diamond saw anyway because I can't hard-code things for every mod in existence.
So rather then this confusing mess, I just made 1 saw, the top tier. All in all having multiple types of tools doesn't really add much, I made the variations to the chisel because I wanted to be inline with how Vanilla works, but its just not worth while in the saws case.

ah alright.. i understand.. ok what about "using chisel" the same way you can use a saw in the crafting table.. so i can get vertical slab or cube quickly?
would that make it easier or does it require you to do more coding..

The chisel has many modes, if you want to make slabs for instance the 1/2 cube mode will let you create a slap in 4 clicks, other wise I would just recommend using the saw, or make a positive pattern and use that to mass produce the required block.

alright got it.. and i have one more question.. its about FCB... i tried to use cobblestone with any color.. but i see that the colored block is not cobblestone but just normal block with colors??
isn't there a way i can make the color blocked look like its cobblestone. i am wondering.. and
i wouldn't want to use saw because its too expensive... its simple because it require diamond if i am playing in survival.. of course.. you know the rest of it. diamonds is quite challenging to find.. in the area.. and cave.. too.

FCB provides a handful of textures you can use in its config screen accessible from the in-game menu, however none of these are cobblestone, FCB is generally about providing Colored blocks with little to no texture that can be used for building, and includes things like wool, stone, hardened clay, and even lighter variants such as drywall, and flawless.
If you want cobblestone your welcome to make a resource pack for the mod and replace one of the existing options with a cobblestone version, but in general I believe it greatly defeats the purpose of the mod; the end result of course being several thousand colored versions of cobblestone.
As for Diamonds being expensive, it only requires 2, which is pretty small, and it lasts a fairly long time, same with the chisel; you get a lot of durability for the diamonds, so they really are worth it. But its up to you if you want to do that.
I personally don't think that diamonds are so expensive that you can't use them.

Added a pair of Japanese arches to either end of the bridge. I really, really love this mod.
Glad your having fun with it, your bridge turned out really nice.

Check for a new build, http://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/flat-colored-blocks/files ( 3.1 )
I added support for item names, so you should be able to just update with the setting you have now.
That works beautifully! Thank you for the support, and in speedy fashion too!

Hey
i hope you dont mind this suggestion:
Make 3 type of Chisel:
-stone/cobblestone chisel (cut any woods) except stones.
-Iron chisel (cut any woods and stones or block) except obsidian
-Diamond chisel (cut any woods + Stones + Obsidian)
this should make it fair to use this mod with good tools that anyone can do that in survival, not creative world.
