Quintessential Creatures 2.0 is a revamp of the original Quintessential Creatures mod that was a collaborative effort between Firehazurd and DrZhark. This revamp will include as many designs from Firehazurd as possible, as well as designs from the community at large. It's goal is to be the premiere mob pack that the entire community can draw from. It is intended to expand the discovery and exploration aspect of Minecraft by providing wonders and benefits, as well as dangers, to exploring the vast world. Creatures will occupy certain biomes exclusively, and if you want to encounter a given creature, you will have to find it! This will be an ever expanding project, we don't plan to stop until we run out of good ideas, and we have many!
The octopus is one of the aquatic mobs in the mod. When attacked, the octopus will attempt to flee and squirt a cloud of ink that cannot be seen through.
The tortoise is a land dwelling peaceful creature that loves nothing more than to chew on flowers. It will follow you if you feed it a flower for a period of time, this can be prolonged by intermittently feeding him more flowers! You can also put a chest on his back that he will carry gladly along.
The troll is a vicious beast that roams the night searching for fleshy weak prey. Beware the thrown rocks! If you can keep the mighty Troll busy until daybreak, it will be turned to stone by the light of the sun.
The salamander is a docile denizen of the Nether. It dwells around large lava pools and takes breaks on the shores to cool and relax. Normally disinterested with the humans, a salamander will defend itself if attacked. They are strong and breath fire when desperate.
This deepsea fish lives in the dark depths of the ocean. It lashes out at everything that is attracted to its lure. Make sure to stay out of its range, as it is very quick! When killed, it will drop Fish Meat, which can be eaten or cooked for more nutrition.
The armadillo roams deserts and other dry places, munching on shrubs. When it feels threatened, it will roll into a ball to protect itself from predators. When this lovely creature is killed, it will drop an Armadillo Plate.
When bumped into or attacked, the blowfish becomes scared and puffs up into its larger form. To protect itself it has spines that deal damage all along its body. Force it to exhale by hitting it and it will exhale a bubble that you can draw air from!

I'm going to go ahead and echo the request for a 1.7.10 version. It'd really be appreciated, as Firehazurd had some great concepts. Myrmex and Gremlins would be especially awesome to see implemented in my opionin.
Few things I thought could be changed:
-Trolls sometimes take too long to change into stone, especially when spawned with the spawn egg
-Tortoises should have a bit more hp imo, 60 maybe? And they only follow you when you're holding the flower?
-Give some more hp to the armadillo when it's in the "ball form", it should be a bit harder to kill -Does the Angler's lure actually glow? I'm not sure EDIT: Nevermind
Other than that, love it ^^ Can't wait for other mobs, especially the luck dragon, myrmex and the goliath beetle
Also, when you're finished with Firehazurd's ideas, are you gonna add your own mobs?

A very pretty mod indeed, I'd love to see where you go with this in the future. I'd especially like to see a flying mob since mods which add those are few and far between.

i shift right click with chest in hand and just normal right click.... idk
You have to feed the tortoise flowers first, and when it follows you you can place the chest on its back.
