not to come across as a jerk or anything but are their any significant bugs for this? like i can't find any....
and my memory usage isn't acting like it has leakage going on.... im staying at 47-53% and i have other mods aswell....
so far what im seeing is a really handy way for vertical redstone. and the stairs in creative tab... like this is really cool.
the stairs and stuff even have the same textures as the other blocks they are based from, so it works with texture packs....
it also adds thaumic blocks from thaumcraft 5....
this should have more downloads.
edit:
doesnt work with helper tools mod... hmmm
i also see there is not redstone variants.... which could be neat... if they worked.
then i found out i couldnt setblock any of the blocks this adds.....
are these blocks stable to build with over long periods of time?
like if i build a large structure with them and log out and back in several times will they bug out or anything?
like i just don't wanna get into this mod and have my heart broken...
and is it in sight for a future update to include the ability to /setblock these....
Hi, thanks for checking the mod out, I believe most of the big bugs have been worked out by now, after several months of being out. Right now my backlog is only new features to add, no bugs.
What do you mean when you say that it doesn't work with helper tools? Most of the blocks are tile entities, so if you want to use setblock you need to specify the data tag. So, for instance to place an andesite slab you do

well, if you can read code, you can check the getMetaFromState methdo of the BlockBuildingBricks* classes at https://github.com/hea3ven/BuildingBricks/tree/master/src/main/java/com/hea3ven/buildingbricks/core/blocks . Otherwise, here's a summary. Vertical slabs only have a rotation value 0-3. The corner has the first 2 bits as the rotation and the third bit is the half of the block (0 = bottom, 1 = top), so you can just add 4 to the rotation to make it a top corner. And the last one is the step which the first 2 bits are the rotation, the third is the half of the block, and the forth bit tells if its a vertical slab or not (0 = horizontal, 1 = vertical), so as in the corner, you can add 4 to make it a top half, and you can add 8 to make it vertical. The rest of the blocks are the same values as vanilla. Let me know if this was clear or not.

Alright, new version is up:
1.8.9-1.2.0:
* Add a Material Bag item that can hold 27 stacks of blocks of a single material, which the trowel can use as a source of materials.
* Add: blocks now combine with themselves if possible when being placed (i.e. placing a step next to another one will convert into a slab), fixes #11.
* Add keybindings for the trowel to directly select block types (by default numpad 0 = full block, numpad 1 = stairs, numpad 2 = slab, etc.), fixes #24.
* Add a validation of the material id mapping of the clients when they connect to servers, fixes #28.
* Fix portable ladder not having localization.
* Fix portable ladder not having a texture for the break particles.
* Fix the trowel not showing the binded block in the item model.
* Fix localization issue with the double stone slabs.
* Fix blocks being consumed by the trowel binding recipe.
I have a problem: When I try to load up Minecraft with this mod, Minecraft crashes in the middle of startup.

The issue you are having is that you are running java 6 while some mods are requiring java 7 or above. Also, the latest version (1.2.1) works with the newer forge versions.

As cool as that sounds, it would be impossible to implement.
In other news, there's a new version up with several new features:
1.8.9-1.3.0:
* Add config option to show binded trowels for all materials in the creative tab.
* Add compatibility with Biomes O' Plenty.
* Add compatibility with AdobeBlocks.
* Add a config option to replace the grass texture with a long grass texture, fixes #26.
* Add config option to disable the generation of the missing blocks for materials.
* Add command to generate material json files.
* Add the ability for the trowel to use any item with an ItemHandler capability as source of material and implement the ItemHandler capability in the material bag.
* Material bags now insert items as you pick them up from the ground.
* Allow materials to be loaded from a sub directory of the configuration directory.
* Improve the material bag inventory handling, fixes a dupe bug with it.
* Fix oclussion issue with transparent stairs and slabs.
I checked it out. and from 6 polished granite blocks i got 2 polished granite stairs.
There is another mod that is doing the 4 blocks = staircase thing.
I forget the name of the mod that is changing the staircase recipe...
but i believe you can change it in the config of that mod by disabling the modified recipe in the config options through the "mod" menu on start screen.
Nice mod, I've been waiting for the vertical slabs forever!
One thing I noticed though with the version for 1.8 (Forge) is that the grass slabs are glowing...
It looks good in many scenarios, but not during night in the wild...
I'm not able to reproduce this, do you mind posting a screenshot please?

oh neat very cool, i'm glad to see that i can setblock this stuff
i was thinkin bout makin some sort of complex looking watermill out of the block of steps n such.
do you have a rtf or txt or a webpage with the facing information?
i know block steps and corners can be placed differently and i imagine it has more complexity than facing 0-4.
and i have went to use the metamorphic staff and expanding rod from helper tools but i dont believe it supports tags.
which is actually not of concern because greg's architecturecraft doesn't work with helper tools either....
so you are in the clear there.
facing knowledge would be nice though.

And before you try to point blame at another mod in the list (like I've seen way too many mod authors do), I've already tried loading with only your mod and no others, and I still get the same result.
EDIT: I've checked things over, and it seems your mod won't work on any forge version of 11.15.1.1700 or above. A few other mods are giving me this problem, but a few mods of mine require a minimum of 11.15.1.1700, so please consider updating the mod to the latest recommended version of forge: 11.15.1.1722. I'll be talking to the makers of the other mods that give me problems, as well.
Be friendly to me, & I'll be friendly to you. Sounds easy, right?

The issue you are having is that you are running java 6 while some mods are requiring java 7 or above. Also, the latest version (1.2.1) works with the newer forge versions.

EDIT: NVM. It is a WAILA issue where a double high plant looses its bottom part for some reason.
Original Post
I get a crash with WAILA.

WAILA is looking for a property called half in the grass block slab, but didn't find it.
Whenever I break a non-vanilla slab, it turns into the Purple/ Black grid box. Also grass slabs turn into Lime Wool Slabs whenever I dig them up.This is with the 1.8.9 versionEDIT: just noticed on the server it tosses an [15:19:46] [Client thread/ERROR]: Item entity 2915454 has no item?!Config issue with the server. Fixed now.
is there a possibility for a 1/4th sized cube that is a lava cube?
to build a tiny fortress with a tiny lava moat.
As cool as that sounds, it would be impossible to implement.
In other news, there's a new version up with several new features:

my heart, it is broken D:
and neat will download.
I checked it out. and from 6 polished granite blocks i got 2 polished granite stairs.
There is another mod that is doing the 4 blocks = staircase thing.I forget the name of the mod that is changing the staircase recipe...but i believe you can change it in the config of that mod by disabling the modified recipe in the config options through the "mod" menu on start screen. It was actually my fault, I've fixed it in version 1.3.2. Thank you for reporting it.
