I thought about a transformation transition, but what I wanted to do with it was a bit much for just a small visual feature so I pushed it aside for now and instead work on actual content and functionality. But I can make a small visual flash/effect for now that you can enable in the config file for the next update.
For minecraft mods you don't need that much experience to make them, at least for simple ones. Some may disagree with that statement but just some java knowledge and understanding of programming concepts is enough, of course the more you know about coding, the easier it will be. The important thing is your willingness to learn.
There are quite a bit of tutorials out there for getting started that will greatly help. If you don't know much about java though you should take the time to learn it before making a mod. Following tutorials is great but if you don't understand what they're doing or why it works you need to stop and try to learn about it.
Thanks. I just wanted to know exactly how much math is involved and how good you have to be at Java to make big and complex mods, such as Buildcraft, Howling Moon, Vampirism, Galacticraft, and even Nevermine 2:Advent Of Ascension. Is it as much as practically making minecraft itself? I am willing to learn alot about programming, although I will start off with C# instead of Java.

You've gotta tame werewolves and dire wolves. You do this by howling while transformed to get their attention, and then feeding them. However, if they have more than two levels more savagery than you, it won't work.
No if they are two levels up than you you can tame it so beast can tame everyone
Hence why I said more than two levels above you. But yes, that is correct-- in fact, even a level 3 werewolf (what you start as) can tame all other werewolves and dire wolves.

Here's a small update of current progress.
1.1 is about half way done in functionality. About 25% overall for the 3 versions. Would there be any interest in a alpha version for 1.1? It'll be a separate download link and I can not guarantee save compatibility between it and the final version, so only use it on a save you don't care about keeping.

Upgrade skills? Your skills get better naturally as your savagery increases- but you can't get higher than Alpha. And I don't know what Teen Wolf is, so I can't really tell you :/

As JayZX535 said, all abilities are currently tied to savagery. Once you max it out, T5/alpha level, it's the strongest you can get currently. The mod doesn't work like Teen Wolf. The pack system isn't fully implemented in 1.0.1, so there isn't rank hierarchy at the moment, it'll be in 1.1.0.
I'd love to see an alpha , beta and omega relationship between players like in a pack or not. It could be like that one show Teen wolf.
Woops i just read the comment above me, sorry my phone only displayed pages 1 and 2 and i assumed those werre the only ones. Yea i should've checked...shame on me. Well other than that this mod seems to be very cool and I'm glad someone's working on it. I was wondering if i could make an animation about it...it wouldn't be coming any time soon but it definitely will be. Just keep an eye out for it ( if you say yes ).

...We can already control our transformations O.o The only time we can't is on the full moon or when we get hungry in human form. You can turn into a werewolf at any time after your first transformation by pressing l

I didn't add in changing eye color for players as I didn't like the current solution I had for it, a bunch of clone textures. So I decide to just push it till I decide to rework the system of custom textures and add custom models so I didn't have to deal with more rendering at the time. So for now you'll just have to create a custom texture and use that.
For now statuses are not going to be changeable through fighting, as in killing the leader of the pack doesn't make you the leader. Currently, though not set in stone, the alpha, beta, and omega are really just going to indicate a wolf's status in a pack. Example in a player's pack, the alpha is the owner of the pack, betas will be other players that joined the pack, and subordinates/omegas are the feral ones tamed by players.
There will be more options to configure and map your abilities soon, since there is more of them coming.
