There's way too much contrast between some of the clay layers, some are way too bright, others too dark. In a real mesa there's not nearly as much contrast.
*snip*
If better shading with stained clay blocks could be done, it would be, but unfortunately Minecraft is a 16 colour universe.
All we have to work with is: white, silver, gray, black, brown, red, pink, orange, yellow, green, lime, blue, light_blue, cyan, purple, magenta
The only way we could improve this is if we add custom blocks with a greater degree of shading, but that's outside of the scope of RTG, and it would also mean that RTG would no longer be server-side only, because clients would also need to have the mod loaded in order to have the blocks available.
Mojang probably should have gone with an 8-bit colour scheme as opposed to a 4-bit one.
I like the mesa in the photo more for its terrain than its style. The standard mesa lacks the epic scale and gradual color contrasts of the one in the picture, as well as the subtle roughness present.
please, send a screnshot of Mesa biome to see how I was the canyons after the 0.8.0 snapshot-5.[/pre]

I could deal with the crag's fissures being a little wider. I like what Pink did with them as they are but I also wouldn't mind very sparse small ponds at the top. Crag has such a nice water colour.
Is there any way to keep rtg from generating Highlands Biomes but have it still generate the trees and streams and stuff? I like RTG but with alot of Highlands biomes it seems to distort them some and Im not sure how to fix. Example the volcano islands. Dunes, flying mountains ect.

Tree generation is a part of the biome decoration process, and the Highlands decorator (including trees) is only applied to Highlands biomes. Because of that, you will only have Highlands trees in Highlands biomes and if you disable the biomes you won't see any of the tree anymore.
With RTG, certain Highlands biomes should probably be disabled, such as the island biomes, because they are only supposed to generate on islands generated by the Highlands world generator, which obviously isn't in use if you are using RTG. With RTG the biomes can generate inappropriately.
In .minecraft/config/Highlands/General.cfg, set the biome ID of whatever biome(s) you want to disable, to -1.
I recommend:
I:"Tropical Islands ID"=-1
I:"DesertIsland ID"=-1
I:"Forest Island ID"=-1
I:"Jungle Island ID"=-1
I:"Rock Island ID"=-1
I:"Snow Island ID"=-1
I:"Volcano Island ID"=-1
I:"Windy Island ID"=-1
Rivers are a part of RTG world generation, so you don't have to worry about losing them.
Yea but most of the islands still dont look like they should at least on mine. Even with CC for example the Volcano islands is just flat ground pretty much not even close to what they look like with just highlands alone. Yea still kinda stuck in my head whether or not want to use RTG + Highlands or Just use Highlands alone.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?

So, last question. I noticed that the 1.7.10 is labeled as beta. Is that still accurate? How have others found it to work with Biomes O' Plenty?
[/pre]
assim como na versão 1.8.9, with more grass, dirt and less sand.[/pre]

Sweet thanks for the help. yea i like disabling only certain biomes much better because i really do like the way RTG generates most of everything.
CC places the HL Islands mostly as islands.
Geographicraft (formerly Climate Control) - Control climate, ocean, and land sizes; stop chunk walls; put modded biomes into Default worlds, and more!
RTG plus - All the beautiful terrain of RTG, plus varied and beautiful trees and forests.
Better Forests Varied and beautiful trees and forests, in modern Minecraft.

awsome man!!diamond for you!
Ok, I can think of a volcanic-type biome that we don't currently have.
Yellowstone.

Is there anyway to disable the RTG trees??? its a pain to chop down tho they do look amazing.. but not when u need space for builds..EDIT:I found a way to disable the rtg trees
EDIT:But the terrain is all weird.. guess ill switch back on the trees.. gah
Yellowstone is a "super volcano".
Basically, you get a volcano powerful enough that instead of building up a mountain, it blows it apart.
You get land that is below sea level (possibly flooded, if by/in the ocean), and sometimes geysers like Yellowstone does.

Thaumcraft has an axe that will fell trees, and Tinker's Constructs at least says it does although I didn't test it.

Can you refer me to an updated mod that does that?
