I would but unfortunally minetweaker isn't upto 1.8.9 yet. We were hoping for the ability to change the recipe since thaumcraft uses so much glowstone + the recipe currently calls for 3 glowstone which is a whole glowstone blocks worth. We were planning on making it be something like a stick + block of coal (may or may not be just coal and exclude charcoal) with wool and either string or a single glowstone dust (depending on if we want to make the nether a requirement
Is there a way to add more items to glow when they are held?
Currently no. With the latest version, a list of light-emitting blocks will be computed during post-initialization, so every block in the game (vanilla, modded, etc.) that emits light will emit light when you hold it. But of course, there is no foolproof way to automatically compute a list of light-emitting items, as they cannot be placed in the world and as such are not "light sources." I'll add a config option to add items to the light source list in the next update.

Realistic Torches - Causes torches to burn out after a configurable amount of time.
Nature's Compass - A utility item that allows you to search for any biome's location in the world.
Hm, didn't know that it does that so i assumed it only did vanilla items. will check modded ones soon.
-Tested and nothing but vanilla and realistic torches items worked. Well guess times shall be tough in the world lol
Did you try with blocks from other mods rather than items? As I said, currently no items besides vanilla and Realistic Torches items will emit light. When you hold a light-emitting block from another mod, however, it should. For example, a lamp from another mod -- it emits light when you place it, so it will emit light when you hold it.

okay, also I added your mod to my modpack, Deadly Encounters.
And it is a crucial part, so the player doesn't horribly die at night (well there is some hope, maybe)
Hmm? So far all versions have been released for both 1.7.10 and 1.8 (plus 1.8.8 and 1.8.9 recently). The latest 1.7.10 version is 1.7.10-1.5.0, which was released on December 30.

Also i am amazed on how fast people are updating to 1.9
*Is the code for forge 1.9 similar to that of 1.8.9 or something?
It's not nearly as big of a stretch as 1.7.10 > 1.8 was. 1.8 basically overhauled Minecraft's render engine, so it took a tremendous amount of time for most mods to update to it. 1.8 > 1.9 is much simpler; as far as I can tell, only rather small changes here and there. Most small/average-sized mods have taken less than an hour to port.

I really like this mod. I use it in my pack on Curse, and its amazing for a little early game hardness.
I think it would be pretty cool if you could use the Match book to start fires but at a higher cost of its durability. Like maybe 8 so you can only do it 8 times at most. The reason I think this would be cool is I use Minetweaker to make Flint and Steel require Steel. Meaning you must go to the Nether first. So an early game Flint and Steel replacement with limited uses would be super useful. Tho a Flint and Steel substitute even with out the change stated would still be pretty useful as you only really ever have to light one fire to start your nether portal so it would be a nice cheaper way to do so and not waist that one iron.

You could decrease the max durability of the matchbox in the config.

Hmm lighting a stack of torches seems pretty balanced, I mean if you used it to light a fire in the world it could cost more because your making a bigger flame so you would use more matches. Like if your camping and you light a fire it can take quite a few matches depending how good your tinder is and dry your wood is, Course in minecraft there is no tinder but it still would be pretty cool xD
