Ah, as I feared. I have tested it on pure forge servers quite a bit, and have never encountered a crash like that, so it might be a bukkit/cauldron problem.
Quote from oldjunyi>>
Seems fish spawn in all liquids. No only in water, but also in Buildcraft's oil, BiomesOPlenty's poison, Foresty's ethanol, etc.
Yeah, that's intentional. I made them spawn in the same places squids spawn. And also if there's a dimension with a custom liquid in its oceans like Tropicraft, they should be spawning there anyway. =)
In regards to the KCauldron crash, that's a real shame. Unfortunately large servers really do need Bukkit (Forge Essentials is a joke). I love the concept of this mod and how it integrates with vanilla, oh well. I love Sound Filters btw

Aw, well in the next update, I'll see if I can figure out a way for it not to crash. I do have an idea to try.
Is it possible to increase the render distance for the fish, or is that a vanilla limitation?
Yeah, it's a vanilla limitation (because of their small hitboxes). I actually did look to see if there was an easy way to increase it, but didn't find one.

Fair enough. I hope you keep digging though.. it's just a shame you can't see the adorable little fishes from further away.
A word of advice: if you use this mod in a water world seed with the waterbreathing cheat code, you'd end up OP-ing yourself before you'd become interested in exploring your first cave.
so i have been looking for a mod like this for quite a while and finding this makes me EXTREMELY happy because i seriously hated not being able to have fish swimming around for some reason XD i have one question tho......any chance of being able to have mods that add fish items (but not actual fishies that swim)? if not ill just keep a normal fishing rod around i guess XD

Hmm yeah, you shouldn't get the fish items from the fishing rods (even the normal one), so it wouldn't work well with that.
The only mod I know that does that is harvestcraft, but it also has a "fish trap" block that can catch it's fish without needing a fishing rod, so you can still get its fish.

lol when i wrote this i was talking about harvestcraft XD but another mod is lots of food >.< and i think i worded that wrong XD i meant to ask basically is it possible to be able to turn fish items from like harvestcraft into actual swimming fishes? XD it was late when i was writing that last night and i was running on very little sleep XD sorry for the confusion

Not right now. I started to work on an API for other people to add fish, but I've been too busy with school work to work on it right now.

I think you first who add different rod, i mean first who add hook for crafting rods,
anyway if you start actively developing(one day) you can find worms in Thermal Recycling mod, currently they have no use but soil dirt, would be great if you add compatiblity or config for adjust baits for your mod.

Good to hear :), look forwards towards being able to use this on our server.
Any luck with this patch?
Is it possible to increase the render distance for the fish, or is that a vanilla limitation?
Sorry, I haven't had any time to work on it. =/
Yeah, it's a vanilla limitation (because of their small hitboxes). I actually did look to see if there was an easy way to increase it, but didn't find one.
Fair enough. I hope you keep digging though.. it's just a shame you can't see the adorable little fishes from further away.
Edit:
I found a mod that lets you increase the render distance for entities.. http://www.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/222073-rendertweaks Says 1.7.2, but works fine on 1.7.10
This of course increases the render distance of everything, but I can live with that.

I meant to put BitCritter as my name. That's two T's.
This add just so much! excellent mod. The waters needed something and you definitely brought it. Thank you for this. Will this work on a Forge Server?

ah okay XD i will wait for it to be finished then til then ill use what you gave us
Can you add a 1.8 version, please? I like to use the water world seed with this, and I'm not just talking about the flat ones.
