Good news everyone, I got the structure generation algorithm to run under 2 seconds for the nightmare island (yeah that thing that takes 30 seconds right now). Because of this we're going to be seeing some serious performance improvements soon.
You did a really good job! Keep it up!
I look forward to updates!
PS: Can you create a list in which you specify what the mod adds all?
The next update will contain a cheat sheet which unlocks everything for you, or you can just look in creative right now. There's quite a lot of information to put onto the forum post, I'd rather people just download it and give it a try. A lot of the mod is in its world generation and research tree.
Hey, first of all congratulations! This is a great mod! So not a lot of the mods i usually use are updated to 1.8, so I decided I'd make a 1.7.10 modpack for me and my friend to play, and I found this mod really awesome, so I was wondering if you could make a 1.7.10 version? Thanks :3

97% of teenagers would cry if they saw Justin Bieber on top of a tower about to jump. If your the 3% who is sitting there with popcorn screaming "DO A BACKFLIP!![/b]", copy and paste this as your signature. Lol.

We've thought about making a 1.7.10 version but believe that that time would be better spent working on the mod and porting to 1.9 when that comes out since it is right around the corner. We may see 1.7.10 slowly go away once 1.9 comes out. What do you think?

Yeah just realized I left in a lot of the PSD (photoshop) files in the jar. My bad. I hope there's enough content for you! I can probably shave of a good 20mb by deleting temporary files. One image in particular (The telescope background) is 11mb or something like that because it's super high res.
Did you know, and im not a coder so I don't know how exactly, but you could've used those low res textures in the high res download by making it so when someone switches the textures from fancy to fast, it switches the textures. might be a bit laggy, but it would make it simpler as a download. also, i have a suggestion, this mod so far seems to be pretty into shadowy magic or something like that, but i was wondering if you might be capable of inserting some sort of infuser into it. not like the thaumcraft infusion alter, but rather something along the lines of infusing differently charged magic energies into your body to make different powers/abilities, like a beam of the infernal or something. i dunno,if it doesn't fit with your style of mod, whatever. also, could you make a 1.7.10 version of this? theres just more popular mods that haven't been updated to 1.8 and i don't wanna give up my old stuff just so i can get one new mod. not that it isn't any good, it sounds fun! but i at least think it would be fair for there to be a 1.7.10 download too. thanks
edit: sorry, didn't read that you might not make a 1.7.10 download, i guess i could wait till they update, if they do. whatever

Making low res textures be used in fast and high rest textures in fancy is an option, however, I know a lot of people prefer playing in fast over fancy even with high end machines. (I know I do! I love the fast leaf textures, etc) I think that making a texture pack like it currently is is probably the best option. Let me know what you think about that.
I love Ars Magica! If there was like a dark custom spell like Ars but with more customizing and more mechanics that would be sweet!
That's definitely the plan! Development has definitely slowed on our mod so far because of University =( , but it's the next feature we're working on after the 1.1 release which will contain a "final" tier 1 boss that will allow the player to choose an affinity. The 1.2 release will then contain the actual spell crafting which will probably relate to affinity.

Look at the screenshot titled: "An "Erie" Biome (This is where you begin the mod!):" That big tree is the tree you should be looking for. You may need to dig underneath the tree depending on if it spawned high enough (It may be a bit underground). Try searching there.

What does one do when you bring a vitae lantern to a spring, pls help
Okay, well the Vitae Lantern is essentially an unfinished part of the mod. It will be used later in spell casting but does not do much at all right now. The lantern essentially is a "mana storage" item, which gives or takes mana from your person depending on what it's set to. Don't worry about it right now, it has no real uses so far.
I'll try to explain how it works in detail here:
If the lantern is set to a high percentage, such as 90% or so, the lantern will give or take vitae (mana) from its own inventory until your character has 90% of your maximum vitae carrying capability on you. If the lantern is set to 20%, the lantern will give or take vitae from you until your character has 20% of your maximum vitae carrying capability on it. The reason you would not want your vitae level set to 100% (maxed) is because it can easily overflow (go over 100%), causing negatives effects (not yet implemented), but it also allows you to cast more powerful spells. For example, let's say that I want to cast a spell that would take 50% of my vitae in one shot. If my lantern is set to 40%, I will never have enough vitae on me to cast the spell since the lantern will make certain I never have more or less than 40% vitae on me. If I put the lantern on 60%, I will have enough vitae on me to case that same spell once.
Please note that the Vitae system is very much a WIP system, so all this is subject to change/simplification.
I hope to see more content added to the mod in the future.
I do have a few questions though;
First of all; how do the meteor crash sites work? Do they always exist in world, or do they spawn after you click on a meteor and then successfully run the calculation. The reason why I wonder is because I'm worried that meteors could destroy villages and player built structures.
The second question is a spoiler related question so it will be in this spoiler:
Is the Insanity research useless, or does it unlock something?
"MEANS: A moment before the dawn now and not there was a strife amongst the barely a linear curve teem"
What's this?! Shoot an arrow into the sun? Do some sort of complex calculus before the sun rises in game? !?!?!?!?
Also the text in a blood stained journal is a bit hard for me to read. m's look like n's, o's look like a's, etc.

men you really need to make the craftings guide for th items of this mod
i wanna make the crosbow but got no idea of how goes in the working bench
your supposed to find it out by progressing.
If you open your blood stained journal it will have the recipe in the research. (Unless of course you don't have the research)

Hmmm, this looks fascinating. Once I start working on a 1.8 pack, I'll definitely take a look at adding this.

Stay determined, because magic is in all of us
