How do you stop the dragons from destroying stuff i have done the config thing but it still wont work please help
Maybe it's bugged at the moment. Bring it up at the GitHub. In the mean time try using /gamerule and set mobGriefing to false. 2 years of playing and I'm only just learning to use /gamerules. /gamerule will give you a list of stuff you can do with it, but you want "/gamerule mobGriefing false" It stops mobs from altering the world, everything from endermen moving blocks to creepers making craters. I'm guessing that the dragons in lairs also won't be able to punch through to the surface if mobGriefing is turned off.

Sadly, changing the game rule still doesn't work in the worlds that I have played.
This is unrelated, but I think there should be a way to make dragons unable to be captured by any items. Currently, I can use the animal nets meant for chickens in the Hatchery mod to capture and carry around a wild dragon. That doesn't really feel right.

There is almost no way to achieve that due to how its usually handled. We'd have to stop the game from collecting NBT data on the dragons(used for the respawning) and stop the game from being able to kill them(used to despawn chicken when put in cage).
OMG, I still can't believe I'm actually playing the mod!! Though I noticed something: I found a dragon roost, and the dragon was flying around. I got past unnoticed, robbed the roost, but the dagon never returned, not even at night. Isn't it supposed to stick around it's homepoint?

Ah, same. This has been happening to me too, and it's even happened with my tamed dragons. If I don't put them in an obsidian prison, they just fly off and I never see them again. I'm not quite sure, but I've heard there's a discord (link posted 1-2 pages back)-- maybe try posting the issue there, if it isn't there already?
Here, the discord. The issues section directs you to the github with a link for reporting bugs and stuff, otherwise you can chat with the other players there about what's going on. The developers are often there too.
OMG! the mod is finally out! i never thought it would actually come out, but now it is! the last time i checked this thread was 4 days ago and it appears that just after i checked this thread, the mod was released! i have already missed out on soo much! so without further ado, i am about to get playing this mod i have waited to play for so long! i currently have modded 1.11 but i will go back to 1.10.2 because this mod is worth it!
also, every time i click on the discord link it opens my discord but doesn't add the new channel. when i click to add a server it asks me for the invite code. does anyone know the invite code for I&F?

to keep this on topic, i just started a new world with ice & fire and i love it!
If you're taking suggestions, i've played for a little bit and might have a few that could be helpful or interesting for the future.
-A means of 'tracking' dragons. A player would have to find at least one dragon to make themselves a beastiary. After getting enough pages and slaying enough of the flying reptiles, perhaps there could be certain pages that give a crafting recipe or a means of tracking down certain mythological monsters. This would allow players to adventure through the world from dragon to dragon. Though, a player can already do that, I think it would be helpful in finding the stage 5 dragons and their dens. From what I know, you would just have to stumble across it by mining.
-Different Body types for dragons. From what I can see, we currently have Wyvern like dragons and sea serpent dragons are going to be planned for the future, but what about other types of dragons. The main rule would just be to stick to only two elements, Fire and Ice, but a bunch of different dragons with different attacks, den shapes, and treasures would be cool to encounter. Say, the Western Dragons, ones that crawl on all four with their wings to their back, could have a chance to spawn nearby villages or on the highest areas of mountains in long abandoned castles. Unlike the current dragons, they wouldn't destroy the land they fly into, but their breath and perhaps another attack could do just the same. Another type of dragon could be the Ryu, a serpentine Chinese Dragon that flies through the sky without wings, twisting around in the air to go from place to place. Much like the western dragon, they would roost near villages, but the Ryu would be a more peaceful one. Ryus were said to be considered gods of weather by some, so, why not make it's den a temple of varying sizes depending on IT's size.

With the idea of new mythological monsters being brought into the game and there being silver armor that is particularly powerful towards the undead, how about enchantments and other gear that is based on other monster types in order to help specialize and defeat them. For example, Silver would obviously be towards undead, but there's also a smite enchantment that increases damage against undead. You could make something like Lead or a gem armor meant to specifically penetrate the scales a dragon OR have an echantment like 'Draconic' or 'Dragon'sBane'.

You can play the snapshot for 1.12. I've done it. In your launcher options you can enable snapshots. Anyone can play the snapshots.

i came here specifically to find this out. Hope we can get an answer soon. For now i am gonna turn the numbers down, to increase their spawn rate. Usually when triple digit values are used, it means "will generate in 1 out of XXX chunks"
