Gryphons are half eagle and half lion right? And hippogriffs are a hybrid of a gryphon and a horse, the horse being an animal that players can tame. So maybe gryphons could be a non-tameable version of hippogryphs that's always hostile? Still though that is a bit redundant and doesn't really add much to the game to be honest.
I just had a weird thought. Actually maybe this belongs in the F/A Revival thread but it's the same people working on both so whatever. So in a world where mythical creatures like dragons and hippogryphs are real, shouldn't there also be extinct mythical creatures? Maybe if F/A comes to 1.10 you could do something where having both mods installed unlocks all kinds of fictional fossils and extinct creatures. Maybe that's where the gryphon could go (so it's like an extinct predecessor of hippogriffs). Or you could have giants, behemoths, leviathans, something like that.
That reminds me of Orespawn, before it went crazy, where in you mined and found the resources to summon a boss. If they did make an add-on for the two mods, I would love to see something like a Titan (giant elemental creature), or something like an Arch Dragon, a larger, harder version of modern dragons. Thinking about it though, it would mean that you could use F/A Revival to clone tamed Dragons and other tamable creatures...
1. Will this be a fighting mount and battle? If you attack something and your hippogryph is standing nearby will it come over and attack?
2. Will it double as a land mount, running like a horse? And will it have that feature horses have where you hold ctrl to get a higher jump to start you off?
1) Imagine it as being a dog and a horse all in 1, so it can defend you in combat or function as a mount. Also it can fly and can be flown.
2) Yes it will be able to run, but jumping will cause you to take off.
Wow, doesn't get more kick ass than that! You could have a fighting Hippogryph following you even if you don't have a saddle yet! Will we need to tie it up to stop it from warping to us like dogs that can't sit or can we just stable them? Being half horse sitting seems a bit odd.
probably the best mod I've seen so far, loads of good mobs and a good community of supporters. you guys make me laugh with the fire dragon eating sheep, the wool is 'an intestinal pipe cleaner' lol.

Maybe if you did add gryphons, gryphons could be better fighters, whereas hippogryphs would be worse fighters but have more health (after all, lions have much better attacks than horses). That would create a distinction between them and make both worthwhile.
You know what would be sick? A level-up system. ARK-style, maybe. I've never played ARK but I really want to (after watching ALL of Etho's ARK videos lol), and I'm very impressed with ARK's level-up system. Something like that could be totally sweet-- especially in dragons. That way their stats wouldn't just be dependent on stage, but could be buffed even further. Of course, the more powerful the dragon, the more training you'd have to do to get it to that point.
Level-ups would also be sweet for other tameable creatures XD

I'm guessing this means that you could be riding your hippogryph into battle and the rest of your flock will follow you all armored up. There's no chance that they could fly in formation behind you is there? And will hippogryphs follow you as you fly with elytra?
I've never heard of the first 4 creatures, what are they?
inugami: dog spirit usually affiliated with black magic
Leucrocuta: African mythical creature. The Leucrocuta is an extremely speedy beast that has a badger’s head with a large bony gum instead of teeth that stretches from ear to ear and can mimic human noises to attract its victims and devour them
something like these
Questing beast:The strange creature has the head and neck of a snake, the body of a leopard, the haunches of a lion, and the feet of a hart. Its name comes from the great noise that it emits from its belly, a barking like "thirty couple hounds questing"
zburator: It has a tail of fire and is a wolf-headed dragon
Ah.
Support Ice and Fire , This is terribly awesome !:D

Hippogryph questions.

I just want to say that this mod looks incredible, I can't wait to play it.
Keep up the good work.
I'm not sure which mod F/A is, but it's nice to know that the hippogryph will have a sitting/ laying posture.
A great source of fiber too!

I'm wondering similar things about dragons.

2.leucrocuta
3.questing beast
4.zburator
5. basilisk
6. hellhounds or dire wolves
I've never heard of the first 4 creatures, what are they?
Well, questing beast is a auto rifle in the game Destiny: The Taken King (2015, Activision/Bungie)
"Hail Hydra" -most controversial line of 2016
