Further to above, at first I wondered why in creative mode, I did not get a tab or tabs with a whole bunch of arches, columns, etc in different materials, then I read further..... I love the idea of creating all your blocks using any full block. .... including those from mods. Oh what a joy! Oh the creativity of it all!
I have made a bridge spanning a great ravine, and now I feel the need to remodel my cathedral with better arches and columns. I will of course have to replace every staircase balustrade in the entire town, and every gabled roof is in for an overhaul with these new overhangs. ....and I have barely started experimenting properly with cladding.
Sigh, a MineCrafter's job is never done. lol
A question regarding arches: is it possible to include corners in the future? By that I am referring to the vaulted ceilings in cathedrals and undercrofts. You know how they have an arch that sort of crosses over another arch, creating both an inside join and an outside join. (If this makes little sense I can give you a diagram)
A second question (for the curious in me) is What software did you use to create these shapes? Techne, while popular, cannot do anything beyond rectangular blocks (and creative use thereof). Is there software I could use to perhaps create shapes for you to include?
Anyway, in my opinion, as a creative Minecrafter, this mod gets my vote for best mod of the year. No really, arches and columns have been much anticipated for several years. Kudos to you.

Creative Minecrafter. No build is ever really complete, just "waiting for a better/prettier mod".
I just discovered an... unexpected effect when applying cladding to a block made of a transparent material. It renders both the cladding material and the base material!
I can't decide whether this is a bug or a feature. What do people think? Should I leave it in?
I would prefer to not include the base material. Cladding should replace the existing material altogether. Same as if there was a solid block with a glass cladding - I would prefer to have the transparent show only, and not the solid.
Double-textures are weird. I can think of plenty of instances where you would want a different texture, but none where you would want both. If someone specifically wants this hybrid texture, they should create it as a texture in its own right.
Having just tried it however, I didntt get the double-texture bug anyway.
And I did notice a curious feature of placing a transparent cladding on a solid roof... you get a skylight where you can see inside, but if you are inside, you just see the back of the slope, and it looks like an ordinary roof.

this mod might be incompatible with Immersive engineering. I submitted a crash-report on IE's github, and was told that the issue will be fixed next release. I'm going to go test now to see if the game crashes with Project Blue installed, but not this one, if it doesn't crash, I'll add this mod again to generate a crash log for you to look at
Alighty! So... just tested and... p up I can now use Architecture Craft with Immersive engineering to make super duper fancy buildings!!! I'm super happy now p up
Thanks for atleast taking a look at the wrong log trying to help XD Also, thanks for making a 1.7.10 version of this mod. I simply love the way you con customize blocks even more than Carpenters blocks and Chisel (of which I have both, so literally endless building possibilities).
Well, I'm off to try and go back to bed now, the time change happened so my clocks say "5 am" but my brain says "GO BACK TO BED YOU MORON" XD
greg, you rly should update the forge forums and add some more screenshots
I am also surprised at the number of people liking this mod (like, this is page 9 already) and yet so few have posted their creations.
Having said that, here is the beginnings of my upgrading of my cathedral interior.
On the left is the old/clunky arches using roof/slope style pieces from a Kaevator-style mod. That was the best "arches" I could make. ..till now....
On the right is my new design, using proper arches - each span is 7 blocks, so I went for a "trefoil" arch, using 2 halves of the 4-span arch set, with a 3-span for the centre. I also added columns, and trim.
Note, this is not a rebuild, but a re-furnish of the existing structure. Seriously, if I did a complete rebuild, I would never finish my world. lol. I mean, I haven't even yet built the facade of my cathedral. (note the "blue sky" to the right of the screen) Sigh.
Anyway people, please post some of your creations using ArchitectureCraft.

Given that it would be lovely to have arches with spans of 5 blocks or more, would it be possible for you to make those in one piece? ie there are many models that fill more than just the 1x1x1 block (eg statues like the angel in my previous post is from the XtraBlocks mod by Mindkrafter)
I can draw a diagram if I am not making sense.
PS I am using MC 1.7.10 (cos my favourite and most necessary mods don't support anything later) and I don't know if you have different additions in your mod for later version.

Anyone use this mod and magic launcher? It shows up as 'no mods found' when I add it to my list of mods.
*Edit* When I substitute 1.8.9 or 1.7.10 it says OK (though I can't actually use them since I am running MC 1.8), but the 1.8 says 'no mods found'.
That's probably because the 1.8 version didn't have an mcmod.info file. I only added that in the 1.8.9 version (and then the 1.7.10 backport inherited it).
Hey man I know this is a bit off topic for this thread ,but is there any way you would update Gregs Prospecting for 1.7.10 ? Please man !
Here is a bridge I made, making use of your arches (upside down arches too) and columns.

Alright, I'm back, found out I was using an outdated version of Architecture craft, updated to 1.4.0 for the 1.7.10 version. here is a crash log:
Does this work with modded blocks as well?
Until someone ports this legendary mod I am leaving the minecraft scene. http://www.cosc.canterbury.ac.nz/greg.ewing/minecraft/mods/ArchitectureCraft/#mozTocId598776 I have watched too many legendary mods die and carpenters blocks sudden fallout out of mainstream made me cry. I realize the source is messy but some of the best mods from 1.6.4 and 1.7.10 were.
yeah it does.
That looks like a conflict between Simply Jetpacks and Aura Cascade -- nothing to do with ArchitectureCraft.

Is there a possibility for a vertical 1/4th cylinder?
like how in arches you have the vertical ramp piece.
Pressing shift was quite the effort on my ceiling..
but there may be a reason for this?
possibly.... but I'm not certain.
My most recent architectural build:
I would suggest updating the files here as well: http://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/architecturecraft/files
That would make it easier to use this in modpacks.

Oh my goodness...
How is 1.9 looking so far greg?
I hope it is looking good :D!!!!!!!!
This is like the night before christmas... when you know something awesome is right around the corner.
Not like a sweater or something lame like that.... but that big box over there in the corner...
It could be a big screen TV... or it could be architecturecraft O.o!
what if its architecturecraft!?
... dude I'd rather have architecturecraft than a big screen TV.
