I'm back with a small tweak mod today. This mod gives you the ability to nickname your friends clientside only. You can access the options by clicking the Mods button on the main menu the clicking on the name of the mod and clicking the Config button underneath that. The mod is in beta so please give it a try and tell me whats going wrong or what you want to see it have.
If I helped you in any way or agree in my ideas or posts, make sure you click that green arrow pointing up below my post or simply huggle me! I use 1.7.10 (Modded), so when I comment that I like a 1.8 mod, I will comment to downgrade to 1.7.10. I support no pics, no clicks. Suggestions that I think that are the best deserves a banner!
It is almost time to say goodbye to 1.7.10 because of the recent surge of big 1.9 mods.
Why MCreator sucks: jcm2606's file (doesn't open a new tab) He allows/welcomes anyone to link the file, so I put it here in my signature for people to know how MCreator functions. I thank jcm2606 (he's awesome) for creating the document/file and I'm just here to spread the word.
Hey everyone! I just added a version for Minecraft 1.8. Please let me know if there are any bugs either here but I would prefer if you did it as a new github issue on the following link: https://github.com/KaminoCoding/FriendNamer/issues
Hey is there anything I can do to make this better for you all. I want to make this something for you all that you'd want to use. I'm going to put the github link up soon for any developers out there to make some PRs and add features.
Finally Added github link. My policy will be that the code is there for people to learn from but not take. If you want to contribute feel free to by submitting pull requests.
I have just published a fully working version for Minecraft 1.8. I'm sorry that the previous version didn't work and any inconveniences that it caused. If you tried it and it didn't work give it another chance. Trust me, it works again! Many thanks to Shinxwinx2323 for helping me test up to the latest release and notifying me of the brokenness of it.
Really glad that you've created this mod! I've been searching for something like this for a long time now, and just so happened to stumble across it. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I'm going to check, but it should work for 1.8.9 too. I don't know about 1.9 yet. But hey, if you want to see a feature just let me know. I'll see what I can do.
The only thing I can think of that would be nice if it didn't require closing out the world in order for the name to change. However, if I understand correctly, I don't think that's possible since it already registers the users name when they get on, forcing it to be shut down in order to have a name change.
However, it possibly could be run with a quick command that would instantly nickname the player in game without having to close it. For example, I saw a video that someone made that has it so when a player is put in a team, they are able to rename themselves in game. If you were to possibly create a command that does all of that for you, then you could be able to change names in game. Here's the link to the video if you want to see what I'm talking about:
Just a random thought. Not sure if any of that sounds correct or anything, but I think you get what I'm trying to say... right? XD I'm not a modder in any way, so I probably have no idea what I'm talking about. XD

Ok yeah! I see what you mean. I was working on an in-game config mode that would work eventually.. I need too hook into the close event and fire the nameformat event once I close the ingame gui. Look for it soon
Edit: This would nullify the need for the use of teams because you could add the usernames to the config. I will look to add a chat command eventually but I don't have a timeframe for that right now.
Alright, glad to know that your gonna be working on it eventually. =D Take all the time you need. If it takes a few weeks or months, it'll be fine. Just don't wait until the end of the year or something like that. XD
Just updated to Minecraft 1.8.9! The download is available on the original post. This updates allows you to change names on the fly while in the middle of a game.
Thank you all so much for supporting my modding endeavours.
I normally try to squash any bugs before releasing but if I missed any don't hesitate to let me know.
