The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
So, you want feedback, you get feedback. How about you move away a bit from the ordinary? I have seen so many Emerald Tools mods over the last few months and years that I am pretty much fed up with them constantly popping up. Emerald tools, alright. But why dont you try to move away from the vanilla toolset?
How about, for example, you make a few more Swords, like a Dagger, a Broadsword and a Longsword (and remove the normal Sword). How about instead of a normal axe, you make a Mace and a Waraxe? (that goes both sides). How about instead of a pickaxe, you make for example either a one-sided pickaxe, like so:
How and you could also add a Hammer that is good at breaking all kinds of Decorative blocks, but no raw materials? So, good at breaking Brick Blocks of all kinds, and Planks and stuff, but not wood logs and stone and so on.
How about instead of a hoe, you make a Scythe, that, when breaking tall grass and grass with it, has a chance of dropping seeds of all overworld kinds, so, Wheat, Pumpkin and Melon, and probably even Potato and Carrot.
How about instead of a shovel, you make a Spade (shovel = round end, spade = pointy end) that digs faster but has lower durabilty? And most important of all: dont make the durability more than diamond. Try to balance it somewhere between iron and diamond, because if people want op tools they can make their own little mods with MCreator (please tell me this mod is not made with MCreator).
You could also make an Emerald Bucket, that, to make it different from the vanilla bucket, can hold two blocks of liquid instead of just one. Means, you got your bucket, you right click on a water source, bucket is half full. You right click on ground, it places the water. Or you right click on another water block and the bucket is now full. And now you can place down two water sources. I see this as a very useful feature, because its usually quite annoying having to waste two or more inventory slots in order to build a proper thing that needs water, like a mobtrap, a generator for stone, etc.
Or, if you decide to make armor, try to make it different from the vanilla set. Instead of a full chestplate, restrict it to being a breastplate, so, no sleeves and not as long as a normal chestplate. Instead of making long emerald leggings, try to make, for example, knee protectors or something. Or simply short leggings. Instead of a normal helmet, try to make a visor helmet or a very light helmet or something. The boots you can make normally, I cant think of anything that could replace them well. And if you decide to actually make armor like this, so, light armor, you could make so the reduced weight of the armor gives the player the ability to walk slightly faster. So he actually has a reason to wear this instead of diamond armor (Because yet again, dont make this better than diamond. Balance it between diamond and iron).
I think with these tips you could probably make a really good emerald tools mod.
Additional Ideas: Emerald Spear, Emerald Shears, some Emerald Decorative Blocks (pillar, carved, brick (-stairs, -slabs, -fence)), and maybe emerald powder to craft with poisonous potatos, and those emerald potatos could be used to make Saturation potions. Would finally get us a use for those trash items of potatoweee.
By the way, if you need textures or help with textures, feel free to add my friend on skype (I dont want to post my own skype, usually ends up with bots spamming contact requests). His skype is shado.siegel, will show up as "Shado47". He has posted it over and over so I usually just tell people to add him and he forwards to me (good friend of mine, we're both in the Eternal Frost dev team).
