Hi, loving your mod but when i try to make sulfur it doesn't recognize coal. The recipe in Not Enough Items says charcoal only. Is that intentional?
Yes, gunpowder is created with mostly charcoal, in reality. It can be made with really fine coal dust but you have to dry it first to remove moisture (charcoal typically loses its moisture in the creation process, if I am correct), so I went with the easier option. And I believe you are referring to gunpowder, as sulfur is an ingredient of that recipe. Thank you for downloading, BTW.
I created a recipe that allows you to grind 3 netherrack in a single sulfur dust (In a manner similar to the fine gunpowder recipe) to help those who feel that getting gunpowder the usual way limits the use of weapons. It can be disabled in the config file if anyone wishes, though. Yes, an ore would be more appropriate, but I am unfamiliar with ore generation. I'd rather not clutter someone's world with an ore that can only be used for one thing though I might give ore a try if there is high demand for it.

If it uses netherrack that's neat, because netherrack seems like something volatile that could contain sulfur.
Ok, thanks wasn't sure if it was a bug. I also was wondering if there was a way to enchant guns. I seem to remember an old gun mod could be. I'm using Enchant Plus Mod so it could just be that. Could you make them compatible if that's the issue? I know it's probably a lot to ask but guns that shoot fire! Great mod regardless thank you
hi! I just found out this mod and wanted to try it... but when I placed the zip folder into the mods folder of mi minecraft root... it didn't appeared into the mods lost of the forge mods list in the tittle screen... how can I make it work? I need another file to download?
Hi Zach. I have some old 16x16 gun textures laying about if you're interested.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I love you really.
Please do not approach me (or anybody else) with any hostility; making friends is way better than making enemies. =3

Sorry, everyone! I have started school at my university to get my EE degree and the work has kept me busy. I currently have no access to my desktop as I have bricked the motherboard, but I am getting one shipped in (Surge protect your Cat-5 cables, I was goofy and did not do so ).
I will start back up with this soon once the PC issue is fixed, now that I somewhat have a handle on my school work.

You must open the zip file. Inside you should find the .jar file with which you put in your mods folder. Thanks for downloading, btw .
Hi Zach. I have some old 16x16 gun textures laying about if you're interested.
I would like to see what you have, once I get back up and running. I need to figure out how to make resource packs that go with the mod so people can choose what textures they want, rather than me having to re-texture and distribute each version separately.
Thanks to everyone for the downloads and feedback. And, again, sorry about the unexplained absence.

Question. Is there an itemID list for this? My server members are interested, so we wanted to test it first without wasting resources if it's not what they wanted.
I really, really like this mod. The fact that it works perfectly without issues (so far) in the multiplayer makes it even better.
But, on the other side, it kinda hurts that bullets are so iron-consuming (maybe add a config that will set amount of metal fragments you get, or decrease amount of ingots required to make them?), since 1 iron ingot per shot (for medium ball bullets) is a bit much
-snip-
I agree with this one. Maybe use multiple iron nuggets instead? And make them oredict compatible, as several other mods already add them and use them, and are oredict compatible.

When speaking about other types of guns, a Harmonica rifle would be cool addition, and maybe add a kind of special gun from the era like Treeby chain gun.
Still - awesome mod, totally worth downloading.

I've added config options that now allow you to change whether or not you want to use iron nuggets or ingots, and the return/amount given by each bullet bits recipe. Let me know if there's any other config option that needs adding, and I'll see what I can do before I release this new version I'm working on.
Thank you both very much for the feedback!
EDIT: Using a phone to post on these forums is certainly difficult.
-Added iron nuggets and subsequent recipes for bullet creation.
-Changed amount of iron ingots/nuggets needed for each bullet bit recipe by one less than
original (this fixes overriding of iron trap door recipe, which I have no idea how i missed
that up until now).
-Added config options to allow customization of bullet bit/percussion cap crafting and
crafting returns/yield.
-Made bullet bit recipes shapeless
-Added needlefire rifle (caplock based breechloader).
-Fixed cannon fire shot not lighting things on fire when hitting the side of a block
-Changed stack size of bullet bits (small/16,medium/12,large/8).
-Changed placement of artillery pieces to the block the player is looking at, along with
their rotation, rather than just appearing on their head.
-Rebalanced damages a tad. The general rule is weapons that have larger clips have slightly
less damage. But higher tiers of guns will always have just as good or better stats than
then the previous tier (matchlocks<flintlocks<caplocks).
-General cleaning of code, to make additions of other weapons a bit easier.
-Added fire lance, an ancient chinese weapon that utilized a small explosive charge to spit
fire and projectiles out of a barrel fixed to the tip of a spear.
-Removed the semi-realistic damage option [from 1.5.0_exp (not yet released) for beta forge
for mc 1.8.8] (Forge for mc 1.8.8 changed how potions were done, and I figure that I can
redo the system once I figure out how to do bleeding effects the new way ).
-Most crafting recipes play nice with ore dictionary now, so certain items can be crafted
with similar parts in other mods (crafting breechloaders does not play nice with ore dict
yet).
-no longer releasing seperate x16 and x32 textured mods. Now you can add the "resourcepacks"
folder to your .minecraft folder and select the pack for x32 textures.
This update has taken an extremely long time for me to release, due to work/school. But, now that the fall semester is over and I have time to do fun stuff, this update is a go.
Mostly bug fixes and refinements in this one. I've better implemented ore dictionary to allow my mod and other mods to be somewhat compatible. Added two new firearms, also. So have fun with a bit more stuff and please let me know if I broke anything .
Somehow I managed to miss that I overwrote the sulfur and fine gunpowder recipes when I was setting things up to work with ore dictionary. Sorry to anyone who found that out the hard way and were confused. Should be fixed now, but let me know if I break something else.
EDIT: Added v1.5.2. I certainly did break something else, but it has been fixed now. Hooray!
Wait, you craft sulfur? Shouldn't it be an ore?

Now some replies:
Yeah. I'll be working on the spawn vectors for that. Thanks for letting me know.
I might try to, but it won't be a major priority for a while.

It's okay. It happens to the best of us.

can this mod be for 1.7.10 please because all my mods I want to have is for 1.7.10 and I really want this one to be as well
Question. Is there an itemID list for this? My server members are interested, so we wanted to test it first without wasting resources if it's not what they wanted.
As a person who loves early firearms I wildlife to recommend some firearms for you to add
Simple firearms:
Firelance: I know other mods add it, but they make it like a flame thrower when in reality it shot small stone balls or sharpened darts
A set of wheellock guns to bridge the gap between matchlock and flintlock
Musketoon: a short barreled musket
I agree with this one. Maybe use multiple iron nuggets instead? And make them oredict compatible, as several other mods already add them and use them, and are oredict compatible.
