Sorry if I'm disturbing you, But I hope that you'll found a soluction for this problem: What should I do if I want a large biomes world type with Farlands? Please follow me!!!
The reason this is currently not implemented is that to avoid a base class edit to ChunkProviderGenerate, I made a modified chunk provider and gave it a new world type. However, I could probably replace the noise generators (which re-adds the farlands) using reflection and an event handler (which avoids most of the issues of a direct base class edit and only changes the parts I need to change). Since I have received this request a few times, I will try to do this very soon.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you!
The Far Lands world type is called "FarLands" (capitalized exactly like that).

You choose the FarLands world generator option, and it makes a world just like normal, but after a certain amount of blocks have been traveled in one direction, Far Lands start spawning?

Fear is a reflex. Courage is a choice.
I have many fandoms, however ask me about them and you will never escape from my rants on shipping.
Question - Are the Far Lands infinite and will you add some special mobs to it (possibly Herobrine as the boss of it), or bring back some old features to the mod (Ex: roses)? Roses could maybe spawn in the far lands.
Why isn't this more popular? This is a great mod, but I guess people aren't interested in making their own journey to the farlands.

Now look, buddy. I'm an Engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like 'what is beauty', because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems. Like, how am I going to stop some big, mean mother-hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind? The answer: Use a gun. And if that don't work: Use more gun. Like this heavy-caliber, tripod-mounted little ol' number designed by me. Built by me. And you'd best hope, not pointed at you.
You have to change the world type to "Far Lands" when creating the world. I was confused when I first started, too.

A tutorial on how to exactly make this work would be nice... please? I can't figure it out...
What can't you get to work? Is your problem that the far lands won't generate? If so, look in the post above yours for the answer. Else, tell me the issue.
I probably will put some instructions in the OP, considering yours isn't the first post to ask about "how to get this mod to work".

I go to the coordinates that i've seen on youtube and when I go to that location and I have tried - and + it gives me huge ocean. I've also tried uninstalling mods that had extra biomes but that didn't help either please help me
I believe that option is in the mod's config. You can find this by navigating to your .minecraft folder(Which, if you already installed the mod, you likely already know how to do.). There you'll find a folder that(I think.) says 'configs'. In there, you'll find the configuration file for this mod. That should have a setting that determines how far away from spawn the Farlands begin.
Apologies if any of this is incorrect, I haven't played with mods in a lifetime and my files reset when I installed the latest launcher.

What exactly were you doing when you got the error (specifically, about what coords were you at)? That can help me figure it out.
Also, if there is another reason (other than the error) that you don't like the mod, what is it?

Could you make the Farlands generate without me choosing it as a world type please? Because I want to use this with biomes o' plenty.
Or maybe just add it as a config option?

How do you set the distance at which the farlands is generated?
And when I start a new world, I crash with a general index our of bounds exception
I get the same error if I launch that world on a new instance of minecraft.
I'm using forge 10.13.4.1448

Here's the error I get. Unfortunately it breaks the mod. Happens when the world builds its terrain.
The game crashed whilst unexpected error
Error: java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException
