The reason I refuse to simply say 'magic!' and leave it at that is that Thaumaturgy has very well defined rules, even if they're not obvious. This mod violates so, so many of them.
Ore should go. When you're working with Thaumaturgy, you've never gotten your metals from them... so why now?
Crimson stuff should actually involve blood, fire and lightning... not just red dye. The Crimson Cultists didn't get their strength from a little Rose Red, now did they?
Your void-repair infusion should be at least a little more interesting, though I have no problem with the effect.
Creation of praetor armor through Thaumaturgy? That... simply is impossible according to the lore, as Praetors are created through high crimson rites.
Throwing nether stars at something does NOT make it balanced. The eldritch focus is too powerful for any cost. Perhaps tone it down?
The caps. OHHHH, the caps. Perhaps infusing something with random material shouldn't make it better... and not as easily as you made a cap like that?
Warp -> Vis? Warp is insanity, not a power source. Also, no wand that easy to make should store that much.
The eldritch is a race, not a single person. They also don't reside in the Outer Lands, they CREATED them to test thaumaturges.
That symbol you use for the Thaumonomicon tab isn't even alchemic: it's a religious symbol. Perhaps use a symbol that actually fits your mod, instead of the sign of a king?
end rant.
I am still working on the mod. There are many things to be changed and balanced. Also if you don't like the mod, don't install it
Warp -> vis , that is indeed not logical according to thaumcraft's lore. What if you'd mention that the warpwood has a mind of its own, that it only unlocks its full potential when its wielder is just as insane as the core itself. That said, what if instead of creating vis, its vis discount increases the more warp you have? That is something for caps. What if the core gives additional potency like the primal staff, but this core gains even more potency depending on warp?
'The further I delved into the dark secrets of thaumaturgy, I began to hear strange sounds from my (warpwood) wand, as if it calls me, accepts me. When I use foci, cracks began appearing in the orb, but the power has never been greater! It is as if my wand pushes more power into the focus then it can possibly accept. I fear and desire the worst.'
As for vis regeneration, I would say very little per second, less then the primal staff does per second, but all the way to 100% of the wand and it does so when in light level 0.
I'm probably going to change the lore on the warpwood wand, but it's regeneration will stay the same. It does increase at a linear rate based on warp. I will balance the recipes as well. Remember I only have put out one release!!

but... I just object to anything breaking the lore so much. or being so horribly unbalanced, or... just about anything this mod is. I'm mainly here because the dev of Forbidden Magic was laughing about your mod on twitter, extolling the unbalanced and silly nature... so I decided to tell you what I thought about it.

there is no possible way to balance a wand that charges that much that well, let alone grants Potency.
If you simply throw more nether stars at it, that's not balance; simply a joke, a farce, an attempt at a good mod.

Again. If you don't like the mod then don't use it. It's not your place to create an argument in my comment section. Suggestions are greatly appreciated but simply flaunting your beleifs as fact is not what the comment section is for. And please take into account that this is the first release of the mod. I haven't balanced much stuff yet.

This mod violates the lore so incredibly, though... that's the thing which irks me most about it.

It's still at an early stage. And you might want to know that I am currently working on my own lore that will unlock in another tab explaining the massive energies of the eldritch. A tab filled with lore that talks about why everything is so powerful. As for the tab icon I found the first cool picture on my PC, I changed the icon for the next build.

I cannot stress enough how early the mod is in development. I havent balanced anything yet. I am working on making things make more sense, and comply with the lore a bit more. Shadowmetal will not be in world generation in the next version, and the wands power will be downed. I know its unbalanced at the moment, but I can only work so fast.

about this, the blood staff core combined with a well of suffering filled with witches is just as fast in recharge as my wand. I've actually played forbidden magic.

The eldritch are the guardians of creation. The Creators and the Destroyers. The barrier to stop those who would go too far. The givers of rewards to those who have earned them.
They have no great magic nor powerful Thaumaturgy, only the power of the Void, that which is before creation. The Primoridial Pearl is the only thing which sets them apart, and we already know about that. And you *seem* to have tried to lay bare the power of Void with your Eldritch focus.
But there is more... far, far more to the Eldritch Race than a ball of dark power.

but the blood staff cannot be used in crafting, and it actually requires an infrastructure.

Just give it some time is all I can say. Its the second version and if you would be kind enough to accept something called early release and waiting I would me much happier. I do not want to start some argument. I promise things will be more balanced in the future.

Just saying, Even Forbidden Magic was more balanced than this in its first release, and fit with the lore better as well.

I'm working hard. There is really no need to be like this. Please if you don't like the theme then don't use the mod. Ill be going along with the thaumcraft lore more, and balancing things. I have a real life too so I can't work on this 24/7. When the next release is out I'll have stuff better balanced. I do realize its unbalanced.

Also, just another note, I think my thaumanomicon entry said REPLICATING the crimson armor not literally creating it. Sure it gives you the actual armor but from what the book said you were only replicating it.

Simply because it isn't primal. if it was pulsing and multicolored, we'd have a different story.

It actually grants no potency
I will agree though, I think Shadowmetal needs to be obtained like thaumium and voidmetal.
