yeah the electic advantage mod currently needs a rf to joule converter and rf transfering cable for it to be applicable with any other electic type mod.
because most of them turn electricity into rf and not joules.
so there needs to be a way to turn rf into joules and joules to rf.
the reason this is happening is because people like to create their own mods and stand on their own two feet instead of relying on someone's API to create their mod from.
which i can't personally blame them.
electricity is electricity though and should be joules not rf....
hmmmm found this in the poweradvantage config but i have no idea how to do this....

The Doc added this one to help with other mods (like Progressive Automation, Neotech, etc.). Keep it at "true."
Plus, there is no power standard for 1.8 yet. Like you said, mod authors can do what they want, but I know the Doc worked to make his mods somewhat compatible with other tech mods.

I just got back from being very busy (and also rather sick) for the past 2 months. I'll be recompiling my mods for Minecraft 1.8.9 over the next few days. I'm glad there weren't any game-breaking bugs discovered while I was out of commission.
Anyway, I'm adding a fluid smelting API right now, which will go live in the 1.8.9 update. So you can look forward to prospecting for crude oil, distilling it into refined oil, and then using that as either fuel or to make potato-free plastic.
On a different note, I have a small growth chamber tweak in Electric Advantage to prevent it from crashing when Master Chef vegetables are grown in them (the Master Chef mod didn't like the magic voodoo that I use to grow plant without placing a block in the world). Go get version 1.0.5 if you want to combine those two mods (v1.0.5 is still for Minecraft 1.8.0)

It isn't in the Ore Dictionary, but the Fluid Registry has a similar functionality in that you can ask for a fluid by name and it will give you one from whichever mod registered a fluid under that name first.

There, I created a CurseForge project for each of my mods. I prefer doing it through GitHub, but I realize that Curse is more convenient for many people.
Also, I was saddened to stumble upon a reddit discussion from just 6 days ago where people complaining that there are still no tech mods for Minecraft 1.8, clearly unaware of Power Advantage (or NeoTech or Progressive Automation or OpenComputers, for that matter). I need to do better at making Power Advantage easy to find for people looking for tech mods. Any advice on that front would be appreciated.

I think using Curse will greatly increase your (and others) visibility. I'm a big fan of the Curse launcher, so I'm glad your using it. You can also make sure to be posted at this mod list site. It seems to be the favorite now.

Curse is the right way to go, not because of convenience to you but visibility. It's well established and easier when searching for mods by category or game version. But that doesn't mean you should abandon github. Just have some presence on curse, that's all.
That's a really cool build. I'm focusing on updating to 1.8.9 at the moment, so I don't have time to work on a lightning rod (although that's a neat idea for anyone who wants to make a Power Advantage add-on).

Right, I meant from another developer besides DrCyano.
For instance I'm interested in mods that go with Electric Advantage.
Right now there arn't any. But the Doc is a smart guy. He did post the API's for the mods so additional mods could be made.

Granted I find time within the next few weeks I might sit down and study it for a few hours. If I come up with anything I'll post it.

Where is Electric Advantage 1.0.5? I didn't find it on Github.
NVM. Firefox had a cache issue. Again. For the 39th time today.
At least it isn't as bad a Chrome, which caches EVERYTHING, even if the headers say DON'T cache it.

Question regarding the oil. Is oil a Forge dictionary item? I ask cause there is a dev version of Buildcraft for 1.8.9.

i made a ghost dragon forge with your mod a while back and listed download page in desription along with the mod.
it got 202 views, it is remaining my highest viewed video so far. until the mods i used for it get updated and i get goin' at it again.
but as far as electricity and 1.8.... lol... dude. there is electricity.
if you could sneak in your lightning from drcyanos wands into electric advantage and make it something that can only be summoned
made a really cool lightning magnification pool though.
