I made a fully working quarry with power advantage and steam advantage. It will dig a 10 by 10 by 60 blocks deep hole. May require more effort to build than buildcraft, but it works like a charm

EDIT: I Also made an automated tree farm
i made a fully automatic cobble gen, just add fuel and water (i have a working water gen as well, and with progressive automation's cutters you can just add a conveyor/hopper/hopper duct to pipe in automatic fuel)
I've noticed a bug in Base Metals. I intended the metal plate recipe to be 3 ingots in a line makes a stack of 3 metal plates, but the gold and iron plates have a stack size of 1. I'll fix that soon.

Pete, I had a question:
What pattern did the quarry follow when you turned it on? Did it follow straight lines, or did it meander through the grid? Just curious. GJ BTW.

poweradvantage / exnihilo2:
fluid pipes won't attach to exnihilo2 crucible, wooden barrel or stone barrel
poweradvantage:
tanks connected in a circle never fill
steamadvantage:
steam pipes connect to hoppers and betterchests adjustable chests (and probably anything else with an inventory)
hoppers will add items to the steam-powered rock crusher's or steam-powered furnace's output slots when the input slots are full. This causes input items to be mixed in with output items when extracted by hoppers.
all progress is cancelled when an item is added to the output slot of the steam-powered furnace (which means the previous bug prevents the machine from operating)
steam-powered furnace and rock crusher both accept items they can't process
Btw, DrCyano, I want to be able to turn my quarry on/off, so can you make pipes toggleable like via redstone or something? Also, can the elevators be able to push blocks? Thanks
Got a bug to report. This is in 1.8. Sometimes, when my quarry is digging, while in the middle of a layer, it will just stop and the drill will restart that layer. This happens often and delays the drill a lot.
EDIT: Nevermind, I think it wasn't getting enough energy.
Sorry for going silent for a while. I haven't had any internet for the past week as a result of moving to a new condo.
@JadenPete: The pipes cannot be turned off, but all of the machines, including the steam tank, can be disabled (if not, then that's a bug). I recommend placing a steam tank in your pipeline and using it as your control valve.
Edit: I have been thinking about making a steam control valve block, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

As of version Power Advantage 1.2.4, the pipes will connect to all blocks with TileEntities if you have the automatic RF interface enabled. Due to the design of the redstone flux interface, it simply isn't possible for the blockstates to know if the other block is an RF powered block without taking a performance hit (RF really doesn't mesh well with MC 1.8, that's partly why it didn't officially update). The next update will sacrifice performance to make the connectors respect the directionality of RF machines.
The bug inserting into output slots should be fixed in Steam Advantage 1.3.3. I'll look into the circular tanks issue.

To improve cross-mod support, I need to use Java 8. Using Java 8 opens a lot of doors, but many Apple computers are too old to install java 8 and some of the older mods don't work in Java 8 because they relied on a long-standing bug in java's collections package that was fixed in Java 8 update 20 (that's why Forge didn't work with Java 8 for a while). How many of you cannot (or will not) update to Java 8?

I...wasn't aware there was any issue updating any mac to java 8. Yosemite was free as was maverick so you'd have to have a truly ancient machine to not be able to run them. My macbook is like....7 years old now? And runs both the OS and java 8 like a champ.
The problem with java 8 and minecraft users was that the default minecraft icon used java 6 as it was signed by apple which at the time took care of java updates for mac. They have since changed this policy so mac users update java on their own but minecraft icon for some reason (that I've read once and promptly forgot) was never updated. As a result, mac users have to basically point their launcher profiles specifically to java 8 file path in order to get mc to run it. Which is extremely easy to do nowadays as the file path option is literally in the profile launcher edit window. Also, you can make an icon of your own to double click easily enough.
So if that's the only reason for not using java 8, I wouldn't worry about it. It's on them to do this very simple correction, not on you to keep using old code with exploits to accommodate them.
I have both 7 and 8 (I have an old 1.6.4 world). Doc, I don't think you should limit yourself due to outdated software/hardware. That may sound harsh, but you have awesome mods. You should press forward. If people want to follow, then its their option to update/upgrade.

I was curious too when I built this. Suprisingly (and very conveniently), it went straight and turned to the next line, and on and on. Like a snake.
