No, only vanilla potion effects. You can always add that as a suggestion to the github: https://github.com/capnkirok/Inventory-Pets/issues

Two+ questions re the House Pet. First, can one reset their home location? If so, how? Second, can it be used from The Nether to return to one's home in The Overworld, or must one first use a Nether Portal Pet then a House Pet to accomplish that goal?

Just Shift-Right-Click (or Sneak right-click) to reset the home point.
You can't use it from the Nether, I believe it will try and fail to transport you (maybe into the void...I'll have to check that). Right now, you have to use the Nether Portal Pet first.
Well, that is a really old version of Inventory Pets (version 1.3.3). But I don't think that's your problem. The error doesn't actually refer to Inventory Pets, but something else with your setup. Probably the easiest thing to do is to update to the latest Forge version 1.10.2 and use that (or go back to 1.7.10).

Two ideas for pets. Witch pet and Parachute pet. (Parachute pet was originally going to be an Elytra pet, but I felt that the name would cause conflict.)
The Witch: Right click will throw at random a potion of slowness, potion of poison, potion of weakness, or potion of harming. The splash potions thrown by witches. Made with redstone dust and eats sugar or spider eyes every so many uses. Has a cool down?
The Parachute: Slowfall, like a chicken, but you can drift horizontally as fast as you can sprint so it's like a better version of the sheep. Made with leather or wool on the left and string on the right. Eats feathers. Eats twice a day.

Yes, I've always wanted to make a Skeleton Pet. And immune to arrows was definitely one of his abilities. Not sure about the second ability, but the rest is spot on. Honestly, just need a good texture
Interesting idea on the parachute. The witch pet was submitted our polls and unfortunately lost. Though this same idea was submitted more than once. I am late doing another poll, but will put the parachute in there.
The arrow immunity would be a really big help with the caveworld 2 mod, since there alot of mobs that have machine gun bows (literally) and most of them have arrows that ignore the brief grace period between hits so you get worn down in less than a second. not to mention the boss of that mod has 10000 HP along with the machine gun bow.
I just checked in and saw the Pet-O-Pedia was updated. Nice!

Eats Ender pearls
Causes a continuous force field around the player, that repels mobs, and projectiles.
Interesting idea! We are thinking about the End, so good stuff.

allows clearer vision underwater
unhindered movement while underwater
unhindered mining while underwater
armor piercing laser attack (right click)
favorite food: raw fish
best used alongside the squid pet.
