Ok, guys, sneak peek at the new in-game Custom Pet GUI. This is just a proof of concept and is a Work in Progress. This should be easier for everyone to use, I think, than the config GUI. A few more features yet to come...
Will that be something you can craft or find in-game, special option, OP command, or creative only? It looks cool anyway it goes.

I have an Idea for a pet!
Riki/Heropon pet
Crafting: nether star, 2 emerald, 2 diamond, a block of gold, eye of ender, ghast tear, and blaze rod.
Right click, snatches a random drop item from a nearby enemy
Shift right click: grants you a slew of positive buffs for 30 seconds or a minute, and applies a bunch of debuffs to all enemies around you for a minute

Favorite food: cooked fish.

Ok, so Custom Pets are (finally) almost ready. This thing is looking pretty slick, if I do say so myself. Aside from choosing any 3 out of 50 abilities, you can also choose any item from Vanilla mc or any mod as Food. You can then select from several different shapes and then set the Colors. All in game, all dynamic and real time.
Still working on look and feel, but here's a quick animated gif to get you all excited. I promise it has been worth the wait
Looking awesome. Will you be making a 1.8.8 version?
I'm still waiting to see how widely adopted 1.8.8 is. Some modders are already talking about 1.8.9 being better. But we will update, yeah, wherever consensus lands.
TARDIS Pet: Recipe: p = paper, l = lapis nugget, n = nether star (because it's OP!) g = gold ingot
Same as last time, top to bottom, left to right. l,l,l p,n,l l,g,l
Right-click: Opens GUI where you can enter coordinates to travel to. You can name these, and the TARDIS Pet will remember the coordinates and put the named ones in a list. You can still enter coordinates though. Traveling will start a vortex animation on your screen and play the sweg sound FX. Traveling between locations takes different times depending on distance (whatever's good for you). If you can figure out a way to make the player fade in and out while traveling like in Doctor Who that's great

I always assumed people were waiting for 1.9, and thats why 1.8 mod were so rare.

We are still talking about how you acquire the Custom Pet, could be both found and crafted, but the recipe might be very challenging.
With this new In Game Method, each Pet is unique, so they are quite valuable.

Thank you! These abilities are based on Riki's actual skills in the game Xenoblade chronicles! You should look him up! He's a great character!
No? okay...
Yes, please, suggest away
Okey
Recipe: (top to bottom, left to right) (g = gold nugget, c = coal nugget, d = diamond, i = gold ingot) g,c,g c,i,c g,i,g
Permanent Haste V and Speed V. Catches rabbits (or chickens in 1.7) when in the Plains or Savannah biomes
Right-click: Speed XXV (25) for 10 seconds.
Favorite Food: Cooked Rabbit or Cooked Chicken
What have you got for the TARDIS so far? Because if you like, I can do that too.
Turn down the speed a bit and it wont be op.
Interesting. I like the temporary super speed boost addition.

Yes. Please feel free to add your feedback on the Tardis, too.
Yay! I can do something useful! (I hate my life)
