Mod makers: Feel free to PM me if you want a signature, we can discuss it! They're normally free, though if you do special donator perks for your mod, I normally charge a small fee of gaining those donator perks. I find it to be a fair price. ^^
On the apple post, there were 6 apples. When i looked, it was made 2 days ago. 6+2=8. You use 8 gold to make something with an apple. Golden apple pet confirmed. Near The 2, there are vines. Nature pets Confirmed. Goat Pet confirmed by the first 4 1.8 update progress for the mod. Pie pet confirmed because Why not?
Edit: There are now 9 apples. and a new post with a spider. 9+8=17. The first 2 letters of banana equal 3. 17+3=20.
20-18=2. 2 New pets!
Inventory Pets 1.8 Beta coming soon. Not everything is working (e.g., that pesky Banana Pet!), but would love for you guys to check it out, test it, let us know if you find any bugs.
Once 1.8 comes out, and custom pets could be made, i think that it might me a good idea for a modpack (Ones that are entirely based on "rebuilding" a world) to be based on this mod. This is a suggestion. I am not making this. Any mod creators make use this idea. Just don't say its your own. Just include a link to this page.
The beta is uploading right now. For the record, the Custom Pets are not in the Beta. They will be in the official release in a couple of weeks (early Sep).
Ok, people. Need your help with testing 1.8. Please give the Beta a spin and if you are so inclined, report any bugs on our github. Every little bit helps
Some known issues:
- Nether Portal is a bit 'twerked' at the moment (spawns a real Nether Portal in the nether, and doesn't return you)
- Not all server stuff has been tested
- Not all OreDictionary stuff is in/tested
- Hasn't been tuned for performance yet
- Not all config options from 1.3.2 are in

v1.8 and forge-1.8-11.14.3.1502:
(1) excluding any pets in the config causes this crash:
java.lang.NullPointerException: Initializing game
at com.inventorypets.IPTextures.registerTextures(IPTextures.java:27)
at com.inventorypets.ClientProxy.registerTextures(ClientProxy.java:46)
at com.inventorypets.InventoryPets.load(InventoryPets.java:691)
tried excluding cloud & sponge.
(2) some of the pets are not eating - good example = Quantum Crystal Monster
Suggestion:
Instead of / as well as having the existing pets that have multiple abilities, have smaller subspecies that only have 1 ability each - so for example, instead of the sponge which has 3 abilities, you could have 3 sponge pets with each ability - this would mean that (a) you have more in your mod - always good. and (b) people would be able to turn off more specified items - for example, the sponge removing water ability would be very broken on our server, but the other 2 are fine, but we have to exclude the sponge completely at the moment.

Okay, i took a 1.8 modpack and added inventory pets to it. Now i will test it
Found Bugs:
Pingot breaks ores with silk touch
Pingot doesnt look for nether quartz
Enchanting table pet eats one times, then doesn't need to
Sponge pet eats one times, then doesn't need to
Furnace pet will not eat
The quantum crystal minions get destroyed when put on peaceful

Yeah, lots of bugs around eating. Looks like we broke something there.

We'll fix the console errors and eating issues.
We have some abilities that can be turned off in the config. That's probably the easiest route... just add more abilities to the list that are configurable.
