I know that there are many similar mods like this one.
And you might ask: "what is original in this mod?"
How about, that this mod adds 30 types of Quicksands? That naturally generate around whole world. And if you don't like any one particular type, you can toggle it's generation off in the config file.
What mod is contain:
30 types different Quicksands with its naturally generations.
4 Mobs Slimes, that only want to devour you if you will be too careless.
New Structure - Desert Tombs, that contain many useful loots but also have dangerous traps.
Ultimate Covering System that covers every players and shows how dirty they will looks after taking an bath in an types. This System is compatible with most Animation Mods, but also it's switchable option.
Unlike other mods you can swim under surface of Quicksand without any risk of taking damage, but when you would out of breath you will start dying in it. Because Quicksand is not Water you cant use any Water Breathing stuff in it. This is also switchable option.
Stuff/Items/Tools that increase your chance successful hiking without being a victim of deadly nature traps, as:
Long Stick - using as walking stick for testing grounds in front you.
Wading Boots - that allow you walking on swampy surface without worrying (Almost )
Life Jacket - that gives you additional buoyancy.
Rope and Grappling Hook - that allow you get out of some sticky situations or help other players.
Possibility for interactivity, grabbing and rescuing players or living-things by hands.
The main reason that I developed this mod is that the standard types of quicksand, like the ones in BiomeOPlenty have cobweb physics. That means that if you're stuck in it, you have to dig the blocks under you, before you hit solid ground. Also you can fly away or use a hook, teleport or something else. But this is too boring and annoying!
In contrast of this, my Quicksand has a more complex structure that is described below.
If you found any bugs or else (grammar mistakes included) please inform me about that, I will fix them later.
Before 1.0.5:
Mod is compatible with Biomes O' Plenty 1.2.1 (Other versions aren't tested), and override some blocks such as Mud and Quicksand.
After 1.0.5:
Mod is compatible with Biomes O' Plenty 2.1.0 (Other versions aren't tested), and override generation of some blocks such as Mud and Quicksand.
Warning: If BOP is installed you have to use BOPs world type, else generation of Quicksand will not work correctly.
Solving an problems:
The main error with mod can be because conflict of DataWatchers.
Error can be solved by:
If you have any crash-report with text like: "Error initializing XXX System. Muddy YYY DataWatcher ID conflict: ZZ", please change "Muddy YYY DataWatcher ID" in config from "ZZ" to number between 20-31, and try again.
Covering System may conflict with Custom Player Model Mod's, please turn-off it before playing.
You can turn-off any System that throws you errors.
For correct working in MP server config and client configs should be same!
If no-one of this tips has not helped, please report me about your problem, with crash-report. I will read this, and explain what you should do.
Modpack's politic:
Fully free to use. You can use my mod in any modpacks
Feature:
Every Quicksand block has original properties, colourful texture, sound effects, generation and physics.
There are 4 main parameters that controls the behaviour of any type of Quicksand:
Thickness:
Controls the speed of sinking into stuff. The thicker it is the slower the sinking speed.
Ex: Very High - Very slow sinking.
Viscosity:
Controls horizontal speed in the stuff. The higher the viscosity the slower movement speed is.
Ex: Very High - Very slow movement speed.
Suction power:
Controls how harder you must pull to get out of the stuff. The greater the suction power the harder it is to get out.
There is horizontal suction when suction power greater than Average, which does not allow you to move in the stuff.
Ex: Very High - Very powerful suction.
Solidity:
Controls whether you can stand on the surface or not.
Yes - can stand on the surface almost without sinking (without sinking if on the Moors surface).
Partially - can stand on the surface but slowly sinking.
No - can't stand on the surface, immediately sinking.
The mechanics of my Quicksand is not very simple. But here are some tips for surviving in it:
If you're stuck in the Quicksand but not too deep (knee deep or less), you can just jump out of it. But be careful! When you land you can sink deeper than you were before.
You can to force you sink deeper by tapping crouch button, but that isn't what are you want, isn't it?
Keep in mind, that all stuff which you have in inventory or wear weights you and drags you down much faster. If you want planning to across an pit be sure to not have too many stuff with you. (Since 1.0.8)
Boots and legs armor are good for protection you, but could become worse issue while struggling in the deep mire. Most of types lock you in place immediately once your boots sunk under the quicksand.
Don't try to dig the Quicksand, it's almost futile. If you're near solid ground you can try to dig that, and if Suction of Quicksand is not too strong you can try to get out into the empty space, that you dug.
If you're stuck deeper than knee deep, you can try to struggling by tapping jumps button, but in the some types of Quicksands you only will sink deeper. If you will work hard and you are lucky, you can get out of this.
If you're sinking in Quicksand don't move without the need. Any your movement will just pull you deeper. (In some types this effect is very strong) Be calm, you may have time (or not) before you will go under. If you are not alone try to call for help, they can dig you out or pull you out by using Hook or Rope.
If you have an Rope or Hook in your inventory, use it immediately. Do not waste time, in some types this is unforgivable. Remember, your Hooks and Ropes have a certain durability, it's keep a more than one Rope in your inventory.
Test the ground in front of you with Long Stick. Always bring it, both to use in case you become stuck, but also to tap the ground in front of you as you walk. The few seconds a Long Stick could save you could be the difference between a messy wrestling match with a pool of Quicksand and a safe hike.
You can use Life Jacket that gives you additional buoyancy in some watery sort of quicksand. But be careful, Life Jacket not guarantee your safety in quicksand that does not watery or with deadly suction.
Just try to avoid Quicksand (or the more dangerous of its types). If you don't fall into it, you will not need to get out.
Types of Quicksands:
(Screenshots included)
- Bog (Liquid Bog)

It's an insidious type of Quicksand. It can be found in wet plains or forests. The Moor is a semi-solid block of mire which is covered with moss. You can stand on it surface without any problem, but if you're not
careful you can break through the grassy layer and stuck in the deadly mire. There is some spots where the mossy is very weak and if you step in it you will get bogged down. Also cranberry bushes can be found there. In the bottom can be founded Peat Blocks with layer of Wet Peat. Peat can be used as a fuel.

As the name suggests, it is liquid. It can be found in swamps as average ponds. It contains more liquid mud than solid and it can't hold any weight. But it is too thick and viscous to trying to swim in it. If you fell in you should stop any movement immediately! Any even small movement, same as attempt to swim in would suck you deeper within the seconds. You should stay calm, trying to float in the thick mess, and if you has nothing that could help you to get out, wait for somebodies help.
- Sinking Slime
Properties:
Thickness: High/Average
Viscosity: High/Very High
Suction power: Very High
Solidity: Yes

Very passive type of quicksand, that often can be found in the bottom of drying rivers or lakes. Squishy and sticky brown clay where you can slowly sinking before reaching your buoyancy point. If you continue to struggle you can sink deeper, but if you don't struggle too much you can get out of it easily. But be careful, submerging is still dangerous.
- Mineral Clay
Properties:
Thickness: Very High
Viscosity: Average
Suction power: Very Low
Solidity: No
Description:
The cousin of Brown Clay, this type of quicksand is not very deadly. In fact, quite to the contrary! This sticky, slimy clay contains many mineral salts that are very healthy for you. You can heal yourself by taking a bath in it and cleanse your body of negative effects (Hunger, Weakness, Poison lower than level 2) Also using this spa can increase the immune system of your body, giving you resistance for 10 min. But this substance is very rare. It can be found only in mountains where mineral rocks can saturate the bottom of drying lakes.
Technical issues for non-natural bathing:
- Mineral Clay working only when you are deeper than your chest. The deeper the more effective.
- Size of your bathing-place should be 3x3 or larger, because you cannot absorb enough minerals otherwise.
- Wet Peat
Properties:
Thickness: Low
Viscosity: Low
Suction power: Very Low
Solidity: No
Description:
This substance isn't dangerous at all. It's a simple peaty mass saturated with large amounts of water. You cant sink in it completely without enough struggling. But not only is it hard to sink in, it is also hard to get out of, too. This type can be found at bottom of Peat Bogs, but also can be created with Peat and Bucket of Water.

Thickness: Solid/Very High/High/Average/Low
Viscosity: Solid/Very High/High
Suction power: None/Average/High
Solidity: Yes/Partially/No
Description:
Natural, soft wax that can be found as small pools in jungles. This wax has very low melting point so it's very susceptible to ambient temperatures. If the area around you is not too hot you can stand on its surface. But the longer you stand on it the more heat it absorbs and it will start to melt under your feet. When wax is cool it's solid, but when it's getting hot, it transforms into a sticky trap clinging to its victim, slowly pulling them under. The deeper you sink the hotter and more treacherous the wax becomes. There is no escape from this deadly trap.
The Wax can be heated by high ambient temperature, open fire, or by lava. Also can be cooled by water or ice.
- Mucus Blossom
Properties: (Blossom's nodules / Mucus)
Thickness: Low / Average
Viscosity: High / Very High
Suction power: Average / High
Solidity: No / No

It can be farmed by using a Sinking Potion on a Poppy. Sprout should be planted in the dirt, and have 7x7x8 blocks of dirt under it. It takes some time for it to grow.
- Tangleroot Moss
Properties:
Thickness: Average
Viscosity: Incredibly High
Suction power: Incredibly High
Solidity: No
Description:
It's a very dangerous, natural trap that can be found in swamps covering up water or mud. It's looks as if it is solid ground, but in reality it's a thin carpet consisting of countless, thin, stringy roots that float on the water or mud and wrap around anyone who falls into it. The more they struggle, the more these stringy roots wrap and ensnare the person tangled in them.
- Swallowing Flesh
Properties:
Thickness: High
Viscosity: High

Them are bit stronger than Vore Slimes, and can cover victims by layers of sticky muck, making them weaker and slower, preventing to escape. Beside this, mele attacks with a weapon could be very danger, due it can just stuck in the sticky layers of mud and be consumed, leaving an attacker unarmed. Same as Vore Slime this monster want catch and devour careless victims, whom lost at the swamp.
- Tar Slime

Any contact with them coat careless victim by thick sticky layer of tar, which not only slow down them, but prevent any attempts for attack or escape. Beside this, mele attack with a weapon could be very danger, due their sticky substance can easily swallow and consume it, leaving an attacker unarmed. If this Slime caught you, you has only 1-2 times for successful escape, covered by tar, but alive. The best tactic against them don't come closer or contact them at all - use only range weapon.
Having lowest health in compare all other types, this slimes can be very danger for newbie players. Because of their flowing dry structure any attack against them reduced in 5 times, except fire which still deal half usual damage to them. Beside this each attack have chance 20% to split the slime at the two indically slimes with their full health, making fight with them more luck related than usual.

I made some video's about my mod.
PS: Yep, I am doesn't use microphone, just please ignore that.
If anybody want help with translation or wiki let's do this!
I will be very very glad!
Just contribute freely at my wiki and write a post here or comment at the CurseForge with attached lang-file with your language.
I joined in 1.2.5, summer 2012. First thing I ever built was a bunker in a hill next to a swamp, that had a diamond block entrance with a piston door, with bedrock and minecart tracks further in. I wish I'd kept the map around.
A suggestion: It would be also cool if you could add "Crusted Lava" which is viscous lava covered with a thin layer of obsidian, netherrack or stone with glowing cracks that breaks under your weight.
A suggestion: It would be also cool if you could add "Crusted Lava" which is viscous lava covered with a thin layer of obsidian, netherrack or stone with glowing cracks that breaks under your weight.
Not bad suggestion, but I think that it is too strange, and mechanically
not look like as some of Quicksand type. The player will die much faster
from hot damage then sink in it.
But thank you for your reply, it's important for me.
Also at the 1.7.10 version I will add some new things (Thanks for some people for their suggestion)

Well, the 1.7.10 version does not work, what forge version was it built for?
(from 1355 version onwards, changes on Forge fluid registry cause this same issue on mods adding fluids)

Hello, can you add an installation guide? I really want this mod but it comes as a .zip file for me (all the other mods I have are .jar files) and when I put it in the mods folder and run minecraft, it doesn't crash or anything, it just acts like I never put it in there. It completely ignores it. I have the latest forge version for 1.7.10. What am I doing wrong? Please answer, this mod is AWESOME and I really wanna play it!

Description:
I know that there are many similar mods like this one.
And you might ask: "what is original in this mod?"
How about, that this mod adds 30 types of Quicksands? That naturally generate around whole world. And if you don't like any one particular type, you can toggle it's generation off in the config file.
What mod is contain:
The main reason that I developed this mod is that the standard types of quicksand, like the ones in BiomeOPlenty have cobweb physics. That means that if you're stuck in it, you have to dig the blocks under you, before you hit solid ground. Also you can fly away or use a hook, teleport or something else. But this is too boring and annoying!
In contrast of this, my Quicksand has a more complex structure that is described below.
Before 1.0.5:
After 1.0.5:
Solving an problems:
The main error with mod can be because conflict of DataWatchers.
Error can be solved by:
Modpack's politic:
Fully free to use. You can use my mod in any modpacks
Feature:
Every Quicksand block has original properties, colourful texture, sound effects, generation and physics.
There are 4 main parameters that controls the behaviour of any type of Quicksand:
The mechanics of my Quicksand is not very simple. But here are some tips for surviving in it:
Types of Quicksands:
(Screenshots included)
- Bog (Liquid Bog)
Properties:
It's a very weak type of Quicksand. Can be commonly found in swamps. Consists of liquid muck that covered with a thin layer of algae. It's a very thick mass that can't hold much weight on surface, but it will slowly suck you down. Be careful - the deeper you would sink the harder would be to get out.
- Soft Snow
Properties:
Description:
This type can be found rarely in snowy biomes. It's very dangerous, if you are not careful you can get engulfed and suffocate. It's liquid snow that can't hold any weight. If you are stuck in it, you will sink very fast and any your movement only make you sink faster.
- Dry Quicksand
Properties:
It's very loose block of sand. It can be found in desert in various pits or just flat surfaces. It's very dangerous when you fall into it, because it's very hard to get out of the pits.
- Moor
Properties:
Description:
It's an insidious type of Quicksand. It can be found in wet plains or forests. The Moor is a semi-solid block of mire which is covered with moss. You can stand on it surface without any problem, but if you're notcareful you can break through the grassy layer and stuck in the deadly mire. There is some spots where the mossy is very weak and if you step in it you will get bogged down. Also cranberry bushes can be found there. In the bottom can be founded Peat Blocks with layer of Wet Peat. Peat can be used as a fuel.
- Quicksand (Original)
Properties:
It's a common type of Quicksand. Can be found in a desert or beach. It's a thick liquid mass of sand. It's very difficult to move in this stuff. Any living thing will sucked down when they fall in it.
- Jungle Quicksand
Properties:
It's a more dangerous version of ordinary Quicksand. It can be found in jungle. It's a mass of liquid mud and sand with a mixture of dead plants. It's more liquid, but sticky and thick.
- Liquid Mire
Properties:
As the name suggests, it is liquid. It can be found in swamps as average ponds. It contains more liquid mud than solid and it can't hold any weight. But it is too thick and viscous to trying to swim in it. If you fell in you should stop any movement immediately! Any even small movement, same as attempt to swim in would suck you deeper within the seconds. You should stay calm, trying to float in the thick mess, and if you has nothing that could help you to get out, wait for somebodies help.
- Sinking Slime
Properties:
This is a liquid version of slime. It can be found in the caverns near the surface. It's semi-solid, thick slime that looks alive. You sink in it faster then you should, and its suction is very strong because it feels hunger and wants devour any living thing, Slimes will regenerate health while on these blocks.
- Mire
Properties:
It's an average type of Quicksand. It can be found in swamps. It contains semi-liquid mud with a slightly dried layer on its surface. It's strong enough to hold some weight, but only for a short period of time. If you walk on its surface you will not sink. But when you stop or get stuck in it you will start sinking. It's a very thick and viscous mass that is almost impossible to move in, and any attempt to do so only pulls you deeper.
- Sinking clay
Properties:
It's a rare type of Quicksand. It can be found in jungle as large, flat pits. It's a liquid clay-like substance covered by thin dried layer of hardened clay. When you step on it, you will break through of it and immediately get stuck in the thick clay mass. And then you will sink deeper quickly, with no chance to escape.
- Tar
Properties:
It's a very rare type of Quicksand. It can be found in the whole world, but more often in Volcanic biomes, or in Nether. It's a very sticky, thick substance. Any living thing that falls in it has no chance to escape. They will inevitably be slowly sucked under. Also this semi-liquid mass is very hot, and can be use as a fuel.
- Larvae Pits
Properties:
It's also a very rare and unusual type of Quicksand. It can be found as a large number of small pits in roofed forest (swamps before 1.0.5). This pits filled with countless number of larva. No one can say what kind of larvae they are, or how they got here. They only want to swallow any living thing that falls to them. And if you fall in, you have no chance to escape. Large amounts of cobweb can be found near these pits.
- Corrupted Sand
Properties:
It's a rare type of Quicksand that can be found only in Nether. It's an unusual type of soul sand that can be found anywhere in the Nether. But it's cursed stuff that devours any living thing that falls into it. Its not only sucks you down, but it also can poison you with the wither effect if you stand in it or try to harvest. And what's even more incredible is that it can curse any ground under it, turn it into Corrupted Sand, and also can slowly spread across the surface.
- Fleshy Pit
Properties:
Description:
It's a rare type of Quicksand that also can be found only in the Nether. It's a living fleshy hole that devours all that is near it. It pulls them under without any chance of escape. And there is a Acid pool at the bottom of the pit that slowly digests them.
- Soft Quicksand
Properties:
Description:
It's a type of quicksand that is somewhere between normal and dry quicksand. It can be found in jungles or very rarely in forests. It's a thick mix of sand and dirt surrounded by few amount of water, that forming very soft substance like a dough. It's very difficult to move in this stuff and any movement cause you sink much faster.
- Dense Webbing
Properties:
Description:
Dense collections of webs used as nesting for spiders. While it can hold the weight of them, it cannot hold the weight of much else. These sticky strands won't let go of any prey. It is very sticky, and extremely hard to escape on your own. They can be found in roofed forest and sometimes other areas where larvae pits would spawn.
- Sinking Rug
Properties:
Description:
A seemingly innocent block of wool, but in reality, the sinking rug is a devious trap will devour anyone who steps on it. These blocks of wool are magically enchanted with a special formula that causes them to gain quicksand-like properties. While they look like normal wool blocks, when you walk across them, you will get stuck and begin to sink! These blocks do not occur naturally, and must be crafted.
- Brown Clay
Properties:
Description:
Very passive type of quicksand, that often can be found in the bottom of drying rivers or lakes. Squishy and sticky brown clay where you can slowly sinking before reaching your buoyancy point. If you continue to struggle you can sink deeper, but if you don't struggle too much you can get out of it easily. But be careful, submerging is still dangerous.
- Mineral Clay
Properties:
- Wet Peat
Properties:
Description:
This substance isn't dangerous at all. It's a simple peaty mass saturated with large amounts of water. You cant sink in it completely without enough struggling. But not only is it hard to sink in, it is also hard to get out of, too. This type can be found at bottom of Peat Bogs, but also can be created with Peat and Bucket of Water.
- Wax
Properties:
Description:
Growing only in the depths of the jungle biomes, these seemingly harmless plants lure in unsuspecting victims with the intoxicating scents of their blossoms. Once trapped, the plant engulfs its victims, sending them down into its belly where they are digested by its gooey mucus.
It can be farmed by using a Sinking Potion on a Poppy. Sprout should be planted in the dirt, and have 7x7x8 blocks of dirt under it. It takes some time for it to grow.
- Tangleroot Moss
Properties:
Description:
It's a very dangerous, natural trap that can be found in swamps covering up water or mud. It's looks as if it is solid ground, but in reality it's a thin carpet consisting of countless, thin, stringy roots that float on the water or mud and wrap around anyone who falls into it. The more they struggle, the more these stringy roots wrap and ensnare the person tangled in them.
- Swallowing Flesh
Properties:
Description:
It's a very dangerous trap that can often be found near Fleshy Pits. It is a slimy and fleshy substance that can swallow anything that falls into it. It's very squishy and can't hold any weight. If you step on it you will slowly sink deeper and deeper, no matter what you will do. And any your movement will just force you to sink faster.
Other blocks:
- Mud
Naturally generated mud that can be found in swamps. Usually it's not so deep, but there is deep spots which could be thighs or waist deep. Walking there without Wading Boots is hard.
- Hardened Clay
Naturally generated hardened clay. Often there are clay layer under it.

Useless grasses that grow on swamp's surface.

- Vore Slime
Properties:

Very good mod, how ever can you add little screen of each block under name.
It would be also cool if you could update it to 1.7.10 and 1.8 (and keep up all versions)
And if you can't update it - i can help you if you want!
Check out all my mods here: Link Removed!
Thanks you, elix_x. I'm flattered.
About small icons near name of blocks, is that about my description in this thread?
However, there are some softs for do this, aren't it? (3D icons like in wiki)
I will update it to new versions, 1.7.10 in particular, but later, I am so tired with this.
Of course! I will be very happy if you or anybody else will help me.
I am absolutely does not know how works new version of Minecraft
Not small icons, but pictures/screenshots
Making screenshot in game and croping it for block will be enough! (press f2 to make screenchot)
If you want me to help you with 1.7.10 or 1.8, just ask! I can explain a lot there (from new items to asm)...
Check out all my mods here: Link Removed!
I am understood what you mean. I will try do something with it.
Sorry for double post
I added screenshots to all type of Quicksand.
Also new version 1.0.2 of mod is avalible:
ADDED LATER:
SERVER SIDE FIXED!
New version 1.0.3 of mod is avalible!
Finally! I was able to fix the server side of this mod.
I guess, that there are no bugs anymore.
ADDED LATER:
New version 1.0.4 of mod is avalible!
Enjoy new version
It'd help if there was an installation tutorial.
I joined in 1.2.5, summer 2012. First thing I ever built was a bunker in a hill next to a swamp, that had a diamond block entrance with a piston door, with bedrock and minecart tracks further in. I wish I'd kept the map around.
Is it really necessary?
ADDED LATER:
Ok
Nice mod!
Im From komchan chotedelok youtube if i get my more fun quicksand mod and join my LAN server
If you are join to LAN server, where this mod is installed, it will work fine, of course.
Or I don't understood your reply
NEW!!!
Finally updated to MC 1.7.10!
New version 1.0.5 of mod is available!:
Enjoy new version!
To edit your prefix, got to top, selct tools and click edit thread. It will open edit window for topic name and prefix...Oh and also you can have multiple prefixes...
