I would love to see this expanded a bit where dogs don't appear in the wild, but you have to breed for them using Wolves. (Or at least have this as an option).
It is wildly inaccurate, I'll admit, to say that all modern dogs came from Wolves.. But this is Minecraftia.
Maybe could have it where you take two Wolves, put them next to each other in dog houses, put special food in a dog dish, and then make them breed. What combination of foods you put in the food dish would affect what kind of dog comes out.
Could even have breeding chains where you start with Wolves, and then have to work your way up to other breeds by following particular breeding lines. Basically -> Make us work for our breeds just like people did when they were breeding for certain traits!
Just a thought (And one probably already presented).

How do you currently find traits in the dogs? I read that the corgi's had a herding trait, but nothing shows up in the dog menu when I right click. How would you find that?

Hey MC fans! If you need a friend to play with, just message me on skype: dakota14breyer.

I believe you can only find it in second-gen or third-gen dogs... if I recall...
You said it, bro. So many people asking a question that is unnecessary if they read literally the first line of the main post.
Anyway, sorry it's been a while since you've heard from us. Holidays and general life stuff wait for no man. But I'm really working hard again on updating to 1.8. A lot of the changes make the conversion really tedious and complicated.
I have to ask though, Forge has releases for 1.8.8 and 1.8.9, does anyone play those, or is it pretty much 1.8 for modded Minecraft? Just looking at the Curse list it seems 1.8.8 and 1.8.9 are way less popular but I wanted to ask the community for their opinions.
I'm not sure how much of a difference there is, as I've really only glanced at it. I know a lot of 1.7.2 mods required very little if any change to work for 1.7.10, not sure if that same thing applies to 1.8/1.8.8/1.8.9. But depending on what everyone thinks I might try and switch my development branch, so... thoughts?
We've been asked a lot to not badger them for the update. Modding takes a ton of time and a ton of effort, and the change from 1.7.10 to 1.8 is pretty messed up- idk what the Minecraft devs were thinking when they changed like everything and a half about how the game works, but it is what it is >.<

That would be mo'creatures horse breeding all over again, and that's a pain in the tail.
Oh my goodness such a great mod, I can't wait for 1.8! I couldn't find any other mod like this also Wiener dogs are another well known dog, incase you were looking for more dog ideas
Actually dachshunds were added in one of the more recent updates- they just don't have pictures for them yet
I don't mind to push you guys more than the other people already have (If this counts as pushing you), but when will you put up with pictures for the dog breeds? I would enjoy to see all the varieties. Also, can you put up a thing on the first page showing what the herding skill does and how you use it? A nice screenshot would help as well. ^^
Awesome mod! Does it work with the DoggyTalents mod?
I play with both DS and DT and they seem to be compatible The dogs are totally separate, so I don't see why they'd conflict. I haven't tested everything yet or anything, but they seem compatible from what I can see.

Good news, everyone. I have a feature-complete and seems-to-be-working build of DoggyStyle for 1.8!! As soon as we do a little more testing we'll release the public beta. Expect it this week.

So if you haven't noticed the main post, (Doggy)Style for 1.8 is now in beta. I've already noticed a couple issues. Leads don't work at all, and even without a conflicting mod, dog houses don't render in the inventory. My bad, that's why we called it a beta. I should have a fix for these two issues some time Tuesday night or Wednesday night, CST. In the mean time, if you notice any other problems, let us know. The transition from 1.7 to 1.8 is a big one, so it's hard to get it all right on the first try.
Thanks everyone!
Edit: Also, shearing poodles doesn't seem to be working. I'll get working on that too.
I NEEED ITTTTTTTTTTTT TOO CUUUUUUUTE AND FLUFFYYYYYYYYYYY ( Explodes )
KITTY STYLE
Can i use this mod to be on my Modded Server/ ModPack???
Definitely! The only thing we ask is that if you have some sort of info page or web site, you link back to this forum post and credit TheGoldVane.
All I need to say is: rottweiler.

That said, basenjis would be cool

NO PRESSURE.

They're compatible. I've used both for a while and I haven't found any bugs when using both canine-related mods.
Sadly, I just found a bug during gameplay.
When attacking a mob, dogs set on 'Stay' will slide (Still in the sitting animation) across the ground and attack the mob, then stay still again.
