We're getting a crash (I think maybe crashing the server) on login since my daughter bred her two dogs, got a puppy, and we were walking a ways back to her house. It seemed to work fine for a while, but as we passed a village, boom-crash. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Can this mod please please please be made available for 1.8. I keep looking for a good dog mod but it's all 1.7.10 and I'm so sad I would download this cool mod the minuet it gets added for 1.8. I hope it does.

Creating a build for 1.8 then updating the 1.7 version with more features would mean we would later have to port those same features to 1.8. We won't be doing that because it would mean coding everything twice. We won't be back-porting features to 1.7.2 or 1.6 or 1.5, and we won't do that for 1.7.10 either once we update to 1.8.
Updating all the code at once to 1.8 will be a chore for sure, but it's inevitable and moreover much easier (and more stable) than doing the whole thing once and then again incrementally for new features. Updating an old version instead of a more recent version is just plain backwards. Also remember we're a (very) small team (2 people) with myriad responsibilities outside of this mod.
When the community consensus (or rather, majority vote) is to move to 1.8, we'll stop adding features and breeds to 1.7. Even the models have a drastically different format between those two versions, so updating both is really creating the content twice, from scratch. We'd rather have more and better updates (and maybe more mods) than to do twice the work to keep an old version up-to-date with the new version. (or more likely, the same amount of work and half the updates.)
We have at least one new feature we have almost ready to go in 1.7, then we'll keep up with community opinions on which direction to go with new features and breeds as they come. For what it's worth, any future mods we create (KittyStyle anyone?) we are planning to release for 1.8 or later, as 1.7 is certainly on the way out before too much longer.

I'm new at installing mods and really don't know how if anyone could help me because I'm looking into trying to get this mod but I don't know how so if you could help me pls reply to this it would be very helpful!
I tamed a German Shepard and gave it a dog house but it has yet to go there to heal? I had to use a lead to keep it in my house so it won't die but is there a way to fix this? It's also apart of a modpack I'm playing on so could it be some type of conflict causing it?
How about a dog crate to put the dog in? Craft a dog crate, use the crate on a dog. Now the dog is in inventory. In the other dimension, use the crate on the floor and dog pops out.
Maybe dog teleports back to his crate in the other dimension or maybe you need a dog house in this dimension? Or maybe if you rclick the dog crate on the floor, it becomes a dog house equivalent for that dimension, automatically linking that dog to that crate.
That's not a bad idea at all. I had a similar idea for the eventual KittyStyle but hadn't thought of doing it with dogs. Most likely I think the solution would be a mechanism that allows you to carry your dog house with the dog inside. Maybe converts the dog house to a dog crate in the inventory, then when you place it on the ground it's a dog house again.
Why don't you wait for 1.9 seeing it's not too far away, and switch to that version. You could start updating that version and just make big fixes to 1.7. This way more people can get enjoyment from this mod and we can enjoy all the fun new features of 1.8 and 1.9 while playing with this mod.
Because a stable Forge build for 1.9 is probably quite far away. Plus it will be quite a while after that before most people are using 1.9 for their worlds, thanks to waiting on all of their favorite mods to update. Case in point, 1.8 has been out for quite a while, and plenty of people are still using 1.7, as evidenced by the poll.

I'll take a look at that. At a glance I'd say maybe update your Forge version to the latest recommended for 1.7.10.

The Forge Wiki has very detailed instructions on installing Forge. You'll want to get the recommended version for Minecraft 1.7.10. Then look at the instructions for "To add mods..." and put the file you'll download from our main post in the indicated directory.

If your dog takes enough damage to die, it will go to the dog house automatically then. (If there is a dog house with his name on it.) You can also send him home by right clicking him with a dog whistle (or an empty hand if you have it setup that way in the config) and telling him to go home. If you right click him and "go home" is grayed out, he hasn't been assigned to the dog house yet. In that case, take him near the dog house, right click on the house and choose his name. His name should then appear on the house.

I really love this mod though I wish it was on 1.8 so I can use it with my other mods such as the minecraft comes alive (sims mod) that is at 1.8 x.x I have to switch out files when I want to play with newer sims data or if I want dogs I have to switch in the old sims craft files. x.x took me an hour to figure out that this wasnt up to 1.8. I really think it would help since most mods update to newer versions of MC. Though the poll shows otherwise =(
Maybe there could be a book that you can craft in the mod by surrounding a book with bones that tell you how to get different dogs and what does what such as what fire hydrant does what and how t do things such as, for example , give them a doghouse. Also please add in naturally spawning pounds and rescues, where you can get dogs that already have a name and a history of where they found them. that would be pretty cool since i have a Labrador rescue that they found at a doughnut shop. Oh and please add the ability to make you dogs fat by spoiling them since he is VERY fat now. I still love him though.

Can this mod please please please be made available for 1.8. I keep looking for a good dog mod but it's all 1.7.10 and I'm so sad I would download this cool mod the minuet it gets added for 1.8. I hope it does.

I don't think the fence are doing it, because my dog was on the bed, then he poofed, and it said on the bottom of the screen he was injured.
I'm new at installing mods and really don't know how if anyone could help me because I'm looking into trying to get this mod but I don't know how so if you could help me pls reply to this it would be very helpful!
I tamed a German Shepard and gave it a dog house but it has yet to go there to heal? I had to use a lead to keep it in my house so it won't die but is there a way to fix this? It's also apart of a modpack I'm playing on so could it be some type of conflict causing it?

That's not a bad idea at all. I had a similar idea for the eventual KittyStyle but hadn't thought of doing it with dogs. Most likely I think the solution would be a mechanism that allows you to carry your dog house with the dog inside. Maybe converts the dog house to a dog crate in the inventory, then when you place it on the ground it's a dog house again.
Because a stable Forge build for 1.9 is probably quite far away. Plus it will be quite a while after that before most people are using 1.9 for their worlds, thanks to waiting on all of their favorite mods to update. Case in point, 1.8 has been out for quite a while, and plenty of people are still using 1.7, as evidenced by the poll.
I'll take a look at that. At a glance I'd say maybe update your Forge version to the latest recommended for 1.7.10.
The Forge Wiki has very detailed instructions on installing Forge. You'll want to get the recommended version for Minecraft 1.7.10. Then look at the instructions for "To add mods..." and put the file you'll download from our main post in the indicated directory.
If your dog takes enough damage to die, it will go to the dog house automatically then. (If there is a dog house with his name on it.) You can also send him home by right clicking him with a dog whistle (or an empty hand if you have it setup that way in the config) and telling him to go home. If you right click him and "go home" is grayed out, he hasn't been assigned to the dog house yet. In that case, take him near the dog house, right click on the house and choose his name. His name should then appear on the house.

I really love this mod though I wish it was on 1.8 so I can use it with my other mods such as the minecraft comes alive (sims mod) that is at 1.8 x.x I have to switch out files when I want to play with newer sims data or if I want dogs I have to switch in the old sims craft files. x.x took me an hour to figure out that this wasnt up to 1.8. I really think it would help since most mods update to newer versions of MC. Though the poll shows otherwise =(

Maybe there could be a book that you can craft in the mod by surrounding a book with bones that tell you how to get different dogs and what does what such as what fire hydrant does what and how t do things such as, for example , give them a doghouse. Also please add in naturally spawning pounds and rescues, where you can get dogs that already have a name and a history of where they found them. that would be pretty cool since i have a Labrador rescue that they found at a doughnut shop. Oh and please add the ability to make you dogs fat by spoiling them since he is VERY fat now. I still love him though.

Hey, I love this mod. Me and my sis play it all the time, and I was thinking that you should make a cat version of this. Or maybe, you could add cats with slightly different features. Minecraft already has domesticated cats, but what if they could fight like the dogs, and have a bigger variety of breeds than, black. White. Cream. Bleh. And maybe the dogs would chase the cats or something? That would be adorable. P.S. The dog models are so cute! :3 Keep up the amazing work!
