Ever wondered why Minecraft never included any kind of lattice blocks to walk on? So have I! This simple mod has got you covered.
The lattice blocks are basic crossed segments of wood which are capable of interconnecting vertically with fence posts, as well as other configurable blocks, to achieve a wide variety of visual effects. They come in both the standard wood and nether brick forms.
The Minecraft 1.8 versions can do all of the variations of wood as well:
The recipes are basically the standard fence recipes turned on their side:
For Minecraft 1.7.10: or for 1.8:
For Nether Brick Lattice, it's the same for both:
The config file allows modification of which specific blocks the lattice will connect with vertically, with the default including things like fences, torches, skulls, pressure plates, etc. From here you can also disable the default functionality of lattices interconnecting with one another, as well as enable them to automatically connect with any solid block above or below.
Moved connectable block list parsing to post-initialization to better handle mod blocks
v1.0 - April 3rd, 2015
Initial release!
-- Modpack Permissions --
As with my other mods you're welcome to include this in your pack. I do enjoy hearing about how/where you're using it though if you don't mind taking the time to do so!
Ooooh! Add a "permissions" spoiler to the OP, please! I'd like to be able to include this in my private FTB pack, and I'll need to prove I've satisfied your licensing.

I don't hardly even think about that anymore, but good idea. You're free to use it in your pack.
Tell me, do you think you could add some kind of feature that allows leaves to grow over them?
This is a good idea if the mod doesn't already allow for this. Just when you think all the great mods have already been made you come along and introduce us to this useful little gem. Such a great idea that should already be in the game. I'm sure there are things you can do to add to this like let flowers grow up them. Thank you for this it such a needed addition.
Great idea, didn't really notice I need this mod. I have couple suggestions, if you don't mind... Trap door would be nice and Growthcraft support would be even nicer.
Gratulations man, Internets are proud of your awesomeness !
PS.: could it be 1.8 ?
Thanks!
I didn't go for 1.8 because the mod started in my alpha 1.2.6 project of late, and believe it or not, it only takes moderate changes to adapt the code for this between the two versions despite the four years of difference. 1.8 on the other hand completely changed that, and Forge went out of its way to make the transition equally annoying. It's not that a 1.8 version will be particularly hard to make, and I'll probably do one eventually, I just didn't bother yet since it would mean rewriting most of the mod.

These all sound like nice ideas, though I admit to never using Growthcraft so I wouldn't know exactly what kind of compatibility you had in mind.

Looks like MCF's multi-quote is back to being as broken as ever.
It's funny that you reminded me of this because I literally just started playing with Growthcraft in a new private pack I put together. I'll see what kind of things come to mind.
I posted this on the Curse page before finding there was a MCF thread for it (should have checked first hah) but this seems to not recognise all the blocks I put into its config. I figured it might be an ordering issue (being registered before some of those blocks), and so put a bunch of z's in front of its name, and this seems to have helped, but it still doesn't catch all of them. I've checked over many times and I've definitely spelt them right too, and they don't have funny characters (Growthcraft has a pipe | symbol, but the blocks for that worked).
Small and sweet mod though, just like your hopper ducts, and great for going over farms and such, or for putting my Growthcraft barrels in like a rack. Would be cool to have the other vanilla woods next!
I have a idea to further this mod if you are interested. What if you were to take your idea and expand it make making wooden laths? Ok so take your recipe that gives you 4 latices and put that back in the crafting grid and it gives you 4 or 8 lath strips. Now the idea behind this is you would need the lath to build walls. You would have to make plaster that consists of slaked lime which would be generated in the world, sand and water. When you put these 3 items in a crafting grid you would get a plaster block, but the trick to use the plaster block is you would have to place your lath first like you would place a fence or your lattice. Only after you place the lath can you place your plaster blocks on them. The plaster recipe would be shapeless in the crafting grid and it could be dyed any of the minecraft colors simply by adding a dye to the recipe. Your mod could be much more useful and have much more of a purpose if you expanded it. Well you can have this idea or anybody can really. Just make it a reality and give me credit. Thanks.
AH! And yet one more thing I want a 1.8 version of for my private mod pack (since I already have AllTheItems, Flux Ducts, Hopper Ducts, Redstone Paste, and Simple Refinement in it).
Why, FyberOptic? Why do you keep doing this to me?!!!
FyberOptic, all kidding aside, are there plans to make this mod 1.8 compatible in the very near future?
And if not, could others (like myself) possibly help... er... influence you to make that so? You know, a smile, an encouraging word, a small donation to the "oh my God I stayed up too late pulling another coding fest and need beer and pizza now" fund?

I'll probably just have to wait then to process the list until you try to load a world or something to catch any stragglers, then it won't matter what order the mod is loaded. I hadn't actually tried using it with mod blocks so thanks for pointing it out!

To be honest it was just never meant to be a very complicated mod. It was just something I added into a really old version and liked well enough to port forward. I doubt I'll ever make it much more complex than it is, mostly because I'm usually busy with other things.
You seem to have a clear idea of what you're interested in seeing. I'm sure if you pitch the idea around you'll find someone with the time to whip it together for you. There always seems to be modders out there looking for idears.

Glad to see that you've pretty much got the whole set of 1.8 Fyber mods!
The only reason it never got a 1.8 version was because 1.7.10 is the last direct ancestor of alpha 1.2.6, the version I made it for to begin with. I just never bothered with the effort of porting it since it would take almost an entire rewrite, where as a lot of the code was able to be re-used for the 1.7.10 version. So it's not that I don't want to port it, and it's certainly not a particularly complex mod to do so, I've just never gotten around to it, and never had a big demand for it. I seem to have had too many "oh my God I stayed up too late making another mod" moments to keep up with sometimes!
But hey people are always welcome to drop some inspirational green paper into a hopper duct pointed my way if there's something in particular they're interested in, and I'm sure it'll find its way higher on the'ol todo list.
Yeah I know life can get hectic and there's not a lot of time to make mods if you're doing it for free. What do you see as the purpose for the mod as it is then? I guess an alternative to minecraft fences maybe. Not much more than that. Yeah I pitched the idea over in the mod request section but not much interest in it.
I see there's a 1.8 version and it has the other woods now, neat! I suppose it makes sense not the 1.7 version though, considering the fence differences.
But if it's not too much of an ask, it'd be wonderful if there was at least a config option to have it use the 1.8 method in the 1.7 version, so that all the wood types were still possible. I'd also love just a simple mod which added the 1.8 fence types and crafting into 1.7 as well, but so far I've not found one surprisingly, but at least with the lattices it'd be half way there (though I've been looking into making some mods, and different fence woods can't be too hard to make since it'd be mostly just copying vanilla fences, so if I find no existing one or anything, maybe that'll be my first?). But I do appreciate that this is just meant to be a simple mod, so I'd understand if you'd rather not.
