If so I (obviously :P) wanted to suggest an option to toggle the starfield on and off, unless I'm missing something obvious that will bring it back.
Yes, I'm thinking about putting a config option where you can set the brightness of the stars, between 0.0 (as it is now) to 1.0 or something. Maybe in the next version.
I *really* like this mod, however I have a few issues/suggestions.
Firstly, and this might not be down to your mod, but when I use the void portal on a multiplayer server, I frequently get disconnected from the server, with the message, "A fatal error has occured, this connection is terminated". I can immediately reconnect, so not a massive problem, but it happens about 30% of the time when using a portal. - It could be my server/custom mod pack that I've put together for personal use, but thought I'd mention it in case it is related to the mod.
Feedback for the mining world, when used with an ender quarry, the ender quarry replaces all mined blocks with dirt, which soon turn in to grass on the surface, which obviously blends in with the grass on the top layer of the mining world. Trying to remember where you've already mined is impossible. Might be nice if you used a different block for the surface of the mining world. Stone, Sand, Gravel, Cobble, etc all fine, but please not dirt or grass.
Void world, I'd rather have a normal sky, even if it's a option I have to configure. Suggestion though (as I'm worried about someone destroying my portal block and the block despawning). Can a void portal block be per player, such that every portal block I create will take me to the same world, that only I can get to?
As stated, great mod, love it, and am very interested to see how it develops, keep up the good work!
Thanks. I haven't seen the disconnect problem you are describing, but if you have the forge logs maybe it can be seen what is happening.
I thought about using other blocks for the surface of the mining world, but that will prevent any trees from growing, etc. So I though it would perhaps get a bit too boring and artificial looking (it's already completely flat). What I'm using instead is the world hole upgrade for the ender quarry. It doesn't use more power, and that also means you can manually get all visible resources from the edges of the quarry, if you want to.
I'm thinking about adding some options for the void world, in the next version will be configurable star field brightness, then we'll see what is next. Thanks for your suggestions.

I have noticed this is in LAN worlds as well. It occurs even if hosting player enters the guest placed portal first (guest gets kicked that is).
I also was curious as to what happens when someone breaks your portal while you are in the other dimension. Does it recreate when you enter it to return? If your portal is destroyed and you create another does it link to the previous dimension or create a new one or give you an option?
1.0.7 released with the following config options added:
Enable AE2 meteor spawn in mining world (1.7.10 only).
Star field brightness setting, from 0.0 (black, the default) to 1.0.
Disable portal crafting.
I also would like more options for Utility Dimensions such as; bed toggle, weather toggle and daylight cycle toggle. I love the addition of star toggle. It would be nice to be able to use the Void dimension like a Skyblock world within a world and have the best of both. I use to use the Mining World mod by Aroma1997 but I love the idea of not having another ugly portal frame that I have to hide. I also love the idea of each player having their own dimensions which works great on LAN. This allows a community shared world and dimension for self expression without increases lag for others.
Can you please redo the textures? Fix that, and this will be amazing!

If I helped you in any way or agree in my ideas or posts, make sure you click that green arrow pointing up below my post or simply huggle me! I use 1.7.10 (Modded), so when I comment that I like a 1.8 mod, I will comment to downgrade to 1.7.10. I support no pics, no clicks. Suggestions that I think that are the best deserves a banner!
It is almost time to say goodbye to 1.7.10 because of the recent surge of big 1.9 mods.
Why MCreator sucks: jcm2606's file (doesn't open a new tab) He allows/welcomes anyone to link the file, so I put it here in my signature for people to know how MCreator functions. I thank jcm2606 (he's awesome) for creating the document/file and I'm just here to spread the word.

If you can get a crash log and post a pastebin link here, that would be great!
There are no safety measures in place, meaning if a portal is destroyed you won't be able to return to the same dimension (without file editing / admin help). Creating a new portal will create a new dimension (when the portal is first used).

I'll try to get one next time.
Sadly this may be a mod breaker for me. I don't like the idea of using a dimension just to lose it; I'll have to debate on whether or not to keep using it.
edit: It may help if you could point to which files I need to edit to repair/replace the portal link. In the event it happens.

The easiest solution in case of a lost portal is probably to edit your character save file to place you inside the dimension (by changing dimension id). Then you can grab all your stuff (pipe out using ender chest etc. if there's a lot), spawn in a new portal block and create a new dimension.
I might add some admin/op way to forcibly set the target dimension of an unused portal block, so that it doesn't create a new dimension but rather links to a specific existing one. It might take a while before that gets added though.
Thanks for considering it; to me it seems like the only thing that lacks. If each player was limited to one portal per dimension by game rule/config setting so it was optional it would be nice (if set to true additional portals' auto link) or a confirmation upon breaking the portal to keep or delete dimension. At least this way it would be optional and a chance to avoid accidental portal destruction. I guess you figured out we do a lot of mixed survival and creative worlds and one of the laptops consistently breaks blocks; stupid mouse pads with intermittent response.

The mod doesn't work well with creative mode as it is now, as you have noticed. I've now added a warning for this to the mod description.
Hello, I love this mod! I saw a few posts back on how people wanted to change the textures. I can do this, and but them on a medafire/dropbox link for you.
Could you also add caves to the mining world? It seems bland without them. (And maybe in those caves extra monsters, to make extra resources harder )
This mod is great as it allows me to play a regular survival world and also allows me to create a mini-lan server world using the flat dimension.
I however ran into a problem earlier.
I downloaded the mod AnyDimensionMod without thinking of conflicting issues with your mod.
I built on the flat dimension for 3 hours and then couldn't teleport back to the overworld as right-clicking the mining portal wouldn't trigger anything.
I managed to get back to the overworld using a customnpc teleporter but then wasn't able to get into the mining dimension because the teleporter would only show mining dimension 3 (and the mining portal still wasn't working).
I now have a lot of dimensions in my player file (i read your previous comments) and I can't figure out which dimension it is that I need to edit my player into.
I also don't understand clearly why the mining portal won't work, but I can use the telepad mod to teleport back and forth as an alternative, so that's not an issue.
I don't know if this will help but I'll post a picture of the dimensions that I'm getting.:
Please help if possible.
Thank you!
v 1.7.10
UPDATE: After some testing, another mod (Ganny's surface mod) was making the portals unclickable
There is no dimension ID incompatibility.
However, I have yet to find a solution to getting back to my old mining dimension as the mining portal was destroyed.
(UW_MINING_3 must have been the original mining dimension, which was overwritten? because i don't see another UW_MINING file.)

The easiest is probably to use some mod which allows for teleportation between dimensions, e.g. using commands. You want to teleport to the dimension with id 3, at x 0, y 65, z 0 (or around there, not lower y value). If you can't find a mod for this, you can edit the NBT data of your character file and place it at those coordinates and dimension id. Make sure to create a backup if you edit this file!
When you say that the portal block was destroyed, do you mean it stopped working or actually vanished?
Unfortunately, there is currently no way of re-establishing a destroyed portal link. You can use Mystcraft linking books or similar, once you have entered the dimension. I will likely add a method to force a portal to link to an existing dimension, but it will probably be a while before it's released.

May I have permission to use this mod in a modpack?
Yes, it's ok to use in modpacks.
Hey bro! May I use this mod in a modpack I'm developing?
Yes. I'll update the first post with modpack info.
Thanks bro!
