And a general point: Having discovered the essentia dynamo: Between that and converting it to leather, I can actually see running out of rotten flesh! (This despite currently working on my second stack of blocks of flesh.) Good job finding more uses for an oversupplied material!

I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.
2 balanced shards + 6 shards for crystal cluster would be a total of 8 Praecantatio.
Nothing gives it Instrumentum at all, but all wands have a some of that. But not nearly as much.
Even the Void Aspected Primal staff only has 13 Instrumentum.
It likely has so many RP because of how expensive the Vortex itself is, not just the Wand. These values aren't simplified to their minimum components, but a stabilized Vortex costs roughly: 12 Gold, 96 Nether Quartz, 24 Arcane Stone Bricks, 21 Nitor, 12 Pistons, 12 Thaumium, 14 Amber, 40 Ethereal Essence, 40 Void Metal, 10 Ender Pearls, 28 Redstone Blocks, 10 Iron, and 5 Redstone Comparators, and one Node. Needless to say, it costs a lot, and the fact that the Vortex is highly dangerous makes it worse. Not to mention the hundreds of points of Vis in order to craft all of this stuff, and the essentia for Infusion of the Attenuators and for the Alchemy crafting.

It doesn't quite require a vortex though.
Inept crystal wands have identical aspects.
And the rift might be hard to make, but once you have it you can pretty much use it forever, right?
Oh, in that case, The Inert Crystalline Wand should definitely have fewer aspects, as it is cheap. I think the actual wand is okay though, because although you can use the Vortex forever, you can only scan things once. Also, you do lose the Vortex if you make a Pocket Plane, it can no longer process items.
You need to get the research before NEI will give you the recipe. I'm pretty sure the prequisites are all four lenses and the focus pouch.
There must be another one, because I have all four lenses and focus pouch, and I'm not even seeing an icon that looks like it.

That is really weird. I just did the research in my test world and once I get all four lenses and the Focus Pouch, it shows up. It is directly above the researches of all four lenses, maybe you aren't looking at the right place. Here is a picture:
If worst comes to worst, you can get it with commands, it's called lensCase.
(Also, thanks for working on the Thaumcraft Wiki a bunch.)

Nope, I've been looking at the lenses, and there's no upward connections. Perhaps you need to actually make and scan the lenses? I can't do the X-ray specs because I haven't beaten a Nether Fortress yet.

Potions also give 3 per ingredient. Gold and melons aren't exactly difficult to get, either.
But then, what if the void bandages also remove only debuffs upon use, unlike milk and a healing potion, which would heal and remove all statuses, including, say, a strength 2 buff?
I really like the idea of Void Bandages, and they haven't been fully fleshed out yet, nor am I good at coming up with balanced effects, so... *shrugs* I'll keep suggesting tweaks for them, I guess. I mean, it does require Void Putty, which is pretty late-game, so I think the Bandages absorbing only debuffs does seem like a valid effect.

no need, also it isn't very strong, i admit i'm not exactly the potion user but i haven't carried a single bucket of milk in any play trough i ever did to heal negative effects, and i certainly wouldn't invest in something to cure only debuffs. however, the ability the easily heal other mobs and the instant healing (unlike the drinking of the potion) seem fine, and the healing can be increased to balance with the cost of void metal and the vortex (normal potion of healing II only heals 6 hearts)

Yeah, but the 'only cures debuffs' means it won't also wipe your self-infusions upon use, such as the quicksilver limbs' Jump Boost and Speed buffs.
But I can see how it could be re-balanced to be worthwhile in terms of how much it heals, perhaps it heals a full 10 hearts? I dunno, my problem with making balanced stuff is that I overestimate the value of the effects of the items.
It'd be nice if the Scholar's Lens could scan a bit faster.
It takes like 3-ish seconds as opposed to the Thaumometer's 1.5(?) seconds.
2 seconds scan-time would be fine.
Also, could we have something like this someday?
Oooh, that would be cool. Maybe we should use this for future Advanced Infusions (Infusions of Infusions, ex. The Nightmare) Or what about for more advanced Self Infusions? (ex. Silverwood Heart, Warped Tumor) That said, I'm beginning to wonder what some of those Advanced Infusions may be, like the Sheeder, and what direction in general Mob Infusions are going.
O MIGHTY THEKENTINGTON, I CALL UPON YOU TO ENLIGHTEN US THAUMATURGES OF YOUR ARCANE SECRETS.
If worst comes to worst, you can get it with commands, it's called lensCase.
(Also, thanks for working on the Thaumcraft Wiki a bunch.)
And I wound up cheating in the research. It didn't appear to give me any new topics aside from the Lens Case itself, so I don't know what was going on there.

So, I've been collecting several nodes in preparation for 1.2 in my survival world due to an excess of Primordial Pearls (19 at last check, I'm definitely post KAMI in this save), and so far I have seven:
Terra, Aqua, Herba, Bestia, Aer, Arbor
This will serve as my home base, it should be a lush green area with a Sea, and Animals roaming around.
Gelum, Aqua, Terra, Aer, Tempestas, Machina
A snowy and icy land, with (Hopefully) frozen over lakes. I'm also hoping it will be caught in and endless blizzard (I have weird tastes, ok?). Will serve as a utility world, full of machines and automation and such.
Ignis, Terra, Aer, Vitreus, Vinculum
Hopefully a Nether-Type world, with raining fire clouds. I'm hoping Vinculum will slow mobs down or something. It will be my boss fighting world (Gaia Guardian, Botania), house my mob spawner, and my automated Wither Killing setup. Vitreus because of Nether Quartz
Terra, Lucrum, Metallum, Vitreus, Aer
My mining world, nuff said. The Vitreus is because of diamonds and such, it seems to spawn them more often. I'm also hoping that the alloy cloud rains metal or something, thus Aer.
Evil Tainted world, hopefully raining Acid and Taint, with eternal darkness. Another test world.
Corpus, Fames, Gelum, Cognito, Arbor, Pannus, Aer
Hopefully, will be a flesh world, making it into my research area and Library.
I also have around 30+ nodes in my creative world with hopefully interesting combinations, but I'm not going to list them. So, what nodes do you have to make in to Pocket Planes? (For anyone wondering, I got these survival mode nodes using a Telelogical Recombinator, then draining a wand of specific Primals and turning off Node Preserver to drain the base aspects.

you turn the node into a Stable Planar Vortex and throw in a single Primordial Pearl and it makes the pocket plane. From there... Well, we'll see.
edit: Derp, I thought you said "How do you make nodes into pocket planes" not asking what nodes we have to make into Planes. I do have a big node, it has Exanimis, Ignis, Aer, and a few other aspects.
Also, I tested on Forge 1236, and the bell is replaced without issues. My guess is that a change made between 1236 and 1291 alters how items have to be replaced, but I will admit that I know very little in the way of writing mods.
Having an unusual issue on Multiplayer with Thaumic Horizons installed. Any time someone tries to craft a Golemancer's bell, their client crashes to desktop. Server is unaffected by this. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the item shows up, but it is claiming that its unlocalized name is 'null', from the 'null' mod
Example:
On the table:
In the Thaumonomicon as well:
However, it's still registered in NEI, at least on the client's side of things:
It generates this crash, but it's not very useful:
Without Thaumic Horizons, this is the result you get:
This is using Forge 1291, Thaumcraft 4.2.3.5, and Thaumic Horizons(1.0.4, 1.1, 1.1.1-experimental), and was tested on both a local and a remote server connection. The issue is not present in single player.
If there's any other information I can provide, please let me know.

You want these researches:
Meat Growth (From Thaumic Horizons), Automated Alchemy (The Thaumatorium), and Infusion (From Vanilla Thaumcraft)
Ohhh. Didn't unlock thaumatorium yet. Thank you, it is my main roadblock to Creature Infusion. Was even trying to get the note from the inspiratron!

Still having this issue with Thaumic Horizons 1.1.6 and Forge 10.13.4.1448/KCauldron 1448.133 on Minecraft 1.7.10 (crash log). Here is a crash log with Forge 10.13.3.1420 and Thaumic Horizons 1.1.6.
