i had an idea so i wanna present to you now my mob idea for a swamp kinda thing but could be in any forest biome too.
So my idea is the "swamp watcher".
The basic idea is that the swamp watcher is like a big mimic. He lives in a pond where in the middle of the pond is a chest. And the chest has a kinda way of water lillys to it. How nice. But if you are in your greed and rush too this chest you will get pulled into the pond by his long tentacle like eyes.
And thats how he would look.
Purple frog like skin with a bit of dark shading.
Tentacles who have claws and eyes in it.
His monstrous mouth with sharp teeth.
And his mantis like claws so his pray cant leave that easily.
Next you rush in to get the sweet sweet loot from the chest but not with him.
His tentacles will pull you into his pond.
And then crab you with his strong claws while it inflicts damage to you.
The only way out would be to hit in its mouth when it tries to eat you.
(maybe if you dont rush it could send his watching tenticles out of the water and just watching you while you stand there)
Now that you punched your way free it started too let a strong fluid out of his mouth.
It pushes you away too hold distance while it emits more and more fluid.
It turn the water into a dark poison so you have to rush out of the water.
If you would happen to jump back to the water you will get blinded and poisoned.
So you stay out of the water but the creature didnt give up it will try to drag you into the pond again and hit you with his tentacles.
After a some time it will come out and you can fight it 1v1 with his claws.
You slained it you got a pieces of skin from him.
You can craft an tentacle hook/whip. With an stick, skin and endereye.
It could use as an hook to drag you up or you can attack mob which inflicts damage and pull them to you.
Second you could drop it into water to make it poison.
And you could use it for brewing.
I hope you kinda like the idea. Put some effort into the drawings but had fun to realise an idea from your head into paper.
You can change everything you want or add stuff.
Sorry for all typos not an english speaker^^
NICE!
i really like this idea, you took the basic design of a mimic, flipped it on its head and soaked it in water, making this awesome new creature!

"i'd like an item that gives you the power of plants, making Foliaath friendly/neutral to you and allow you to trap enemies in various kinds plants"
I'm sorry, but most people on these forums don't speak Portuguese. Could you perhaps repeat that in English?
Google translate says it's this: I wanted an item that gave you the power of the plants.
This item would be useful not to be attacked by Foliaath and trap your enemies in various types of plants.
he tried to say it in english before, but it came out as incomprehensible nonsense, so i asked him to say it in portugese, and i'd translate it

Mowzies I have a complain with the friendly Barakoas, I summoned a bunch of them with me and I go out fighting mobs with them along with some tamed wolves, and I accidentally punched my Barakoa and the wolves attack her, I then install the friendly fire mod to make it so I can't hit them, but I can still hit my Barakoas friend. My theory is that the Barakoa doesn't use the same "Owner" tag and share the same code with vanilla tamed mobs, and The One Probe also doesn't show the "tamable" lable when hover over them, so I ask if you can change it so they use the vanilla taming mechanics and tags. I can make a github issue if you want
I also have the Ice and fire dragon mod, and my dragon strike still affect the Barakoa, but the strike doesn't affect any other tamed mobs, like it is supposed to

well, that's because they really aren't tamed nor your allies, you're just fooling them by wearing one of their masks, if you take it off, they become agressive again

he's talking about when you wear the sun Chief's mask and throw barakoa masks in order to summon your very own barakoa masks, and they follow you and fight for you...

So, throwing a completely random concept out there: deep underground, i feel there should be a underground giant toy-room full of stuff, with a floating diamond-shaped creature (with one eye and abilities) controlling all of said toys into different phases and attacking you.
Sorry, I don't feel like this would fit the atmosphere of Minecraft's underground.

Really cool drawings! But there are a few problems with this mob design.
Chests don't normally appear in the open in swamps, so no player who knows about this mob will be tempted to approach it: especially because there's nothing worthwhile in the chest. So the lure and trap mechanic wouldn't be very effective here. The chest plays no other role in the mob's design or mechanics, so why bother with it? We could streamline the encounter's design by just having the mob exist and hunt on its own.
Next, you say that the only place you can hit it to damage it is its mouth, but this doesn't make sense to me. No part of this mob's design or theme has anything to do with armor or invulnerability; in fact, its skin is "frog-like", spongy and vulnerable. This mechanic feels disjointed with the rest of the design.
I like the poison spitting ability and its attempts to pull you into the water, but this is all undone after it gets out of the water and becomes a plain melee enemy.
Finally, I simply don't see a way to program tentacles to act in the advanced ways you have described here.
It's a cool design and I like your art a lot, but for these reasons, I won't be including it. Maybe this would be a better fit for a different mod?

Ah, I see. I have an item planned to pacify Foliaaths and some ideas for a separate item to manipulate plant magic.

You are correct, they do not use vanilla taming mechanics. But implementing this would be harder than it seems; they behave very differently from normal tamed mobs. Create the Github issue, and I'll see what I can do.
well, that's because they really aren't tamed nor your allies, you're just fooling them by wearing one of their masks, if you take it off, they become agressive again
Actually, the ones that you spawn follow you directly. With the Sol Visage, you become the center of their hive mind.

Nobody will see the tags in a normal survival scenario, the tags will help them to be more immersive to the game.
Just a small thought, but will there be more weapons like the Axe of a Thousand Metals? I love when weapons have cool 3D attacks like that, and you executed it perfectly. Weapons such as swords that can quickly swipe left/right, maybe a spin-swing attack with shift, or even combat staves that you can spin around you to attack multiple mobs when you hold right-click

Yeah, sure! The phoben's blade Ej will function like this.
Yea you are completely right. I felt like i had to enclude so much things but in the end it made it worse. Sometimes less is more. If you still like the concept of the mob and design i could overdo you critism. If it still doesnt feel good enough after i would try on another creature. But only if you would want that. And yea maybe for another mod have to look out if someone would like to do that. But thanks for your honesty and you commend on my design.
Exactly, thanks for taking it so well. I'd love to hear other ideas you've come up with.

haha unoriginal signature go brr
I personally like it. But, crafting the weapon seems un-mowzie like. Perhaps if it just dropped the weapon directly?

agreed, but the "brute" concept itself aint bad at all

i know
so they fight and ofentimes die for you but they're not really your allies? makes sense.
(also no if you take off the mask, by my testing they remain tamed to you)

When are you going to add this idea?
Request: Let us plant Foliaath's in flower pots.
that'd be a nice little immersive "easter egg"
Oh,You can do it!
First, put a dirt on a flower pot.
Second, put Foliaath's seed on a dirt.
Finally, break a dirt.
yeah, but that doesn't makea tiny little plant that tries to nibble on ur fingers
Edit: God, that'd be so damn adorable
Yeah, sure! The phoben's blade Ej will function like this.
No idea.
Hm, I'm really not sure how that would work. Foliaaths are entities while flowers are blocks.
