Originally I did smelting sugar, but it turns out that conflicts with a recipe in MineFactoryReloaded. A lot of people use MFR so I thought I should find my own recipe instead. My other idea involved buckets of sugar water and a new furnace type, but it was too convoluted. To keep it simple and use a unique recipe, this is what I settled on.

I knew people would go through fragile glass quickly but I didn't think it would be so fast they want an easier recipe! Especially seeing as people who play modded MC tend to appreciate the value of a big cane farm. It doesn't get much easier than this unless I go to 2x2, but that seems a bit crazy. Maybe I'll do a poll one day.

There are plenty of modpacks designed for a particular map available, such as Agrarian Skies, which are essentially modded adventure maps. Some of them are very popular.

As for a GoT-themed mod I had one idea, but then a better, non-themed idea came from that so I don't have any plans at the moment. Also I'd rather make more mods based on my own ideas rather than someone else's IP. I don't have the time or equipment to run a server either Of course if I get a really good idea in the future I'll act on it.

Thanks for your opinion! It's nice to know people are at least aware of this mod!

Did you watch GameChap and Bertie's review? That video was for my terrible 1.6 version. For 1.7.2 and higher, this mod won't have those problems.
I've now added version numbers to the spotlights.

I'll work on it.

EDIT: It'll be added as "blockSugar", same as Tinker's Steelworks, if you know any other mod devs with unregistered sugar blocks. I won't be working on the 1.6 versions of my mods anymore, but I've just added this in to my 1.8 port and I'll release a 1.7.10 build with it soon as well.

SECOND EDIT: Builds for 1.7.10 and 1.8 are now available with OreDictionary support.

Well, I suppose you guessed why smelting canes wouldn't sit right with me. Thank you for your input. Is 9 sugar too much for a stack of glass then? I thought modded MC users would have plenty of sugarcane. If people seem to want even cheaper glass I'll do a poll after the current one.

I thought your return was too high personally. I believe you said the recipe was 9 sugars to make a sugar cube and that when smelted makes a stack of sugar glass. At best it should only 9, I'd be happy with 1 tho. Here's a thought, make a server config so we can tailor it as needed.

Migueeel, I dunno... in my experience cane farms have been invaluable, what with all the mod explanation books I've had to craft, the bookshelves for enchanting if there's no village nearby, Thaumcraft research...

I know that the glass crafting concept needs work, but I have other priorities at the moment and like I say, I'll do a poll after this one to try to get the general opinion of it.

Kreezxil, that is an excellent mod list. I wish there were more with that kind of attention to detail.

It was everyone wants. Plus it helps me get ready for when Technic, ATL and FTB can all actually launch a 1.8 client properly without crashing. For ATL and FTB I'll only have to place that list in a spread sheet and be good to go. For Technic, meh, they don't actually care, but their Solder, which I ran before and allows incremental updating, it provides options to put all that data into it. It will be my preferred distribution platform when it's ready.

That all said, I will always maintain my own website.

I can't stop thinking about it. I've heard of people feeding sugar cubes to horses. There are lots of uses for sugar cubes. Coffee anyone?

Make a recipe that allows you to make coffee say from cocoa beans and salt and water (I know but this fantasy unless you want to make a coffee tree and pods), and let's say that gives you some kind of speed enhancement plus health regen for a time, but it makes you hungry too, so negative satiation, but then you craft a sugar cube to the coffee and now you have like more speed enhancement, plus jump boost, but you get extremely hungry for a period of time and you begin to lose a half heart like every 30 seconds. So you would have to eat like a pig to push back the effects a bit.

That's just an idea.

Well, it's got to be cheap because it could break just from a stray arrow... or player... or fireball... or falling pig... and it's got to be sugar because that's what people expect it to be made of, so they can get used to it easily

Yeah, looking at some Technic modpacks I did get the impression that they're not really bothered about the modlist. I guess they're trying to change that, which is nice.

I think coffee and other uses for sugar is the domain of another, bigger mod, really. I just want this mod to have fragile glass (and possibly thin ice). I have to keep mod sizes small because I'm very busy with exams at the moment... I shouldn't even be posting here right now!

Anyway, the Curse people should approve the next build of Fragile Glass in about 45 minutes, so keep an eye on the download page. This one has been tested on the server and seems to work OK. Sorry about that; I'll be more thorough in the future.
