I decided to take a day and try to learn (basic) minecraft modding.
But - I have absolutely no coding skill - I plan to change that, but it'll take time. For now I'm poking around with MCreator to kind of get a feel for what can be done relatively easily.
So I made a mod, and I figured I might as well share it, in case anyone else wants something similar.
If you have a request for something relatively basic, I'll see what I have to do to throw it together.
Catnip Mod:
Basically, you can grow a catnip plant (rarely) with bonemeal. Break the plant, you get a catnip leaf. Use the catnip leaf to spawn an ocelot a small distance away.
You still have to tame it with fish, of course.
First, get some bonemeal.
Apply the bonemeal to the grass. (Very) Rarely, a catnip plant will spawn.
Break the catnip plant.
A catnip leaf can be used to spawn a cat.
And here it is, the newly spawned cat.
Known issues: Fairly certain this is an issue with MCreator - when the cat spawns, a ghost double is created that cannot be interacted with.
Installation: Just drag and drop into your mods folder, and you're done. Requires at least Forge 10.13.2.1230 - will probably work on newer versions. I'll eventually figure this all out.
Permissions: If you want to use this in a modpack, go ahead. I'd appreciate it if you took the time to notify me, though.

Dog Treat Mod:
With a simple crafting recipe, you create a dog treat. Use the dog treat to summon a wolf.
You still need to tame it with bones, however.
The crafting recipe!
The dog treat ....
And the result! Like the cat mod, there is an issue where a second 'ghost' wolf spawns. Relogging fixes the issue, so it's unlikely to be fixed.

I couldn't figure out how to create a shapeless recipe in MCreator so I had to write the code for it.
