Hi players,

for those of you playing 1.7.10, I backported the recent fixes to that version and added some experimental performance improvements to address slowdown issues, in TFC especially. The new versions are Streams 1.7.10-0.3 and Farseek 1.7.10-2.0, please let me know if they work well for you.

Next I'll address issues in the more recent versions such as the loss of SpongeForge compatibility.

What part of WTF-expedition is incompatible? I'm only using it for oregen, will that still cause problems?

To be honest I don't quite remember exactly. :-) I think that that was for Farseek/Streams for 1.7.10, which recently got its coremod mechanics overhauled in the 0.3.x release. So it's quite possible that these issues are fixed, or weren't present in 1.9+ in the first place. So feel free to give it a try (back up your world first!) and let me know how it goes.

I tested it and it worked for me, maybe you just need to generate more worlds to get a river generated at startup. I used RTG-1.10.2-4.1.2.4 seed 647436999344202661 and got a river at coordinates -2348 63 -1816. Please let me know if that one doesn't work for you.

OK I figured it out, it works with 1.9+ but not 1.7.10. I've got a bugfix update for 1.9/1.10/1.11 that will include a block.properties file and an updated startup message describing how to set it up.

BTW The latest SEUS shaders (11.0) can render Streams blocks fine when provided with the updated IDs, but it won't display their water current. I suggest sticking to 10.x if you want to see the currents.

It actually looks like it's working for me. I'm on 1.10.2 with Biomes o'Plenty and Geographicraft as well.

Is there a way to get it to replace the vanilla rivers as well?

Any plans to update this mod to 1.12 now that there is a recommended forge version for it?

I had always wished minecraft had rushing water physics, Mostly cause I play a lot of mods where the mobs fight each other and I always thought it would be cool to see two creatures fight to the death by a riverside only for one get pushed into the river and swept away by the current and promptly either drown and die or go over a waterfall. And now that I learned there's a mod for it I'm really happy, I am wondering something and since I have no laptop at the moment to test it out myself I was wondering if my question could be answered please

question 1- can mobs and/or players be swept away from the fast moving currents, I know boats can obviously and they can also break when in to fast of water, but I was wondering if it's possible for say a sheep for example to be pulled in by a rivers current and drown/take damage.

It appears that my game stutters if I load a world after leaving it with a Streams river nearby.

Edit: Upon further inspection, it's more likely it was an issue with Optifine.

Not with Streams itself, there might be other mods that remove or replace rivers though.

Mobs do get swept by the current, you'll often see a bunch of livestock hanging out at river mouths because of this. They don't take damage or drown though, unless something else forces them underwater.

Cause according to my friend who's testing this mod for me (laptops kaput rip) as it turns out creatures do/may actually drown and die in the currents cause they said they found beef pieces hanging by the ending of a current/waterfall thought she's not to sure seeing as how she claims she herself nearly drowned and took 3 hearts of damage trying to get her boat the current tried to eat XD. my friend did suggest however, adding randomly generated rocks similar to The rocks people who boat on Rapids tend to crash into as well as a way such as a config or something to speed up the water flow, or In general speeding the water up a little bit more so it's like actual Rapids or something perfect way to cause mayhem and carnage towards the ocean xD

In any case this mod is awesome and I love it, (im love realistic water things)

I can roll it back to earlier versions which do work, but I was hoping to take advantage of the updates you made..

EDIT: Seems to be related to Farseek. The game will attempt to load without, but obviously won't finish since Streams depends on it. I did find it odd which version it was asking for though in the mod rejection screen. Unfortunately, this, and the latest.log are the only things I have to provide you. :/

I can roll it back to earlier versions which do work, but I was hoping to take advantage of the updates you made..

EDIT: Seems to be related to Farseek. The game will attempt to load without, but obviously won't finish since Streams depends on it. I did find it odd which version it was asking for though in the mod rejection screen. Unfortunately, this, and the latest.log are the only things I have to provide you. :/

The error you got refers to an empty zip or jar file which a mod is trying to open. The latest Farseek does look in mod jar files for coremod data but according to my testing it handles empty files fine. So either you do have an empty zip or jar somewhere and another mod chokes on it (ThaumCraft?), or it's a symptom of a non-empty file causing some other problem (maybe Farseek is trying to access a jar that's in the process of being downloaded by another mod?). Anyway the first things to try would be removing any empty files in your mod directory and subdirs, and if there aren't any, trying again with just Farseek & Streams.

As for the dependencies error message, it might be because Forge went ahead trying to load Streams after failing on Farseek so fixing the crash should make that go away. The weird-looking dependency format is actually a Maven version range (http://maven.apache.org/enforcer/enforcer-rules/versionRanges.html) supported by Forge. Here [2, 3) means it requires version 2.0 or above, but below 3.0.

I'm currently trying to resolve a performance issue with my modpack.

My modpack is hosted on a server, and the modpack depends on the server. It also features exploration, and as such, we are attempting to run pregen in order to generate chunks, with the goal to mitigate any heavy load placed on the server when players explore the world. We are using World Border to perform this action, using the fill command (it generates chunks out to a defined radius)

Performing fill will time out the server. It's a complete freeze, throwing Timed Out errors to connected users. Nothing gets logged to the usual places when this occurs, so I installed WarmRoast and profiled the server.

I may not be reading it correctly, but it appears Farseek may be of cause here.

I may be misremembering, but I don't think I had this issue when I previously used Streams 2.0 and Farseek 1.0.11 (for MC 1.7.10).

Currently we are using Farseek 2.0.1 and Streams 0.3.3. A rollback is not possible, since our server's world is considered 'final' and the previous versions of these mods caused cobblestone streams (which appear to be fixed with later versions)

Again, the issue is that when we execute pregen operations using World Border or even mods such as ChunkPregenerator. It seems to vary biome to biome, some causing immediate timeouts while others take some time, but the server always eventually times out. The issue can also occur if chunks are explored manually too fast (players flying around, generating new chunks)
