I see a lot of potential in this mod, there are loads of mods adding bunch of items and blocks and yet the inventory is always cluttering up faster and faster. Sure there are backpacks but they are a pain to use as you always need to search for items in order to stack them up.
On top of that, mods like Tinkers Construct make enchanting weapons pretty useless, and machinery having the ability to store xp and get xp automatically making xp pretty much worthless. This mod certainly changes that and it will be a high value once again.
However, im quite sure you're aware of the compatibility issues you're having as I've looked on github, but these are mine:
The tabs from Galaxycraft and CustomNPC's quest log, Tinkers Construct backpack (and most likely more mods that do this) don't show properly as their offset is way off. Also the creative mode middle mouse doesn't copy the blocks.
A little diagnosis of these issues is that it has to do with the fact that you change the main interface.
Adding additional columns (making it wider) causes the tabs to shift from their original position.
Adding more slots (3*9 interface) cause the scrollbar to appear (making it a little wider) and shift the tabs a little.
Adding more slots (4*9) causes the tabs to completely detach from the GUI sometimes even showing behind the NEI item list.
Don't get me wrong, I like it as it is right now and your method is essentially better but there are quite a lot of mods relying on the vanilla interface to be as it is. Changing that will cause you more work to keep things updated and compatible as you can see right now.
Also keep in mind that you don't have to replace it, just add a config flag disabled by default and when this mod gets more broadly used mod devs might consider making their mods compatible with yours.

The way BattleGear works it's pretty much impossible to fix from my side. The devs of battle gear aren't exactly diplomatic about changing to an alternate system either.

Okay so if you guys had a heart you would know he is working when he can ... if you have never made a mod before shut up we don't need to loose another skilled coder like SheenRox28 ... Most of you vultures most likely didn't even try the Riov mods ... he was a great modder and well like this guy time got in the way. If you want this mod to vanish keep being piranhas because no one especially modders and tinkerers like us want the pressure.
On another note Funwayguy your work is commendable take your time and know no matter how many vultures fly around I will be a fan and I will simply wait.
InfiniteInvo has finally been fixed of the notorious crash that had showed up in the last few versions. The mod should be relatively stable once again, as long as I don't screw something up again (Client-server inventory syncing is hard so I make no guarantees). Creative mode middle click still doesn't work however due to the code responsible for it being relatively hard to intercept, I am working on it though.

There are multiple reasons why I'm not using a 'tab' system.
It's somewhat a extension of what bags are just attached to the vanilla inventory which although are good storage solutions and easy to program they aren't great for quick access from the vanilla inventory nor would they work when using other mod based containers.
It would be much harder to maintain the inventory variable because unlike a bag system it isn't attached to an item and I can't add additional inventories to a player unless I'm constantly reading/writing to the player's raw NBT data (Tinkers adds only a few items so this isn't much of a problem but when you involve thousands of configurable slots...)
Tab systems wouldn't support picking up items. Once the vanilla inventory is full you'd need to move items to the tabs to allow the player to pick up items again.
As for the issues, report them on GitHub with screenshots and I'll see what I can do. I don't regularly look in the forums for bug reports, GitHub also notifies me by email about them too whereas here I'm likely to miss it.
So it turns out my last version (1.0.32) which I thought would be pretty stable was actually severely broken to unplayability because I stupidly missed a spot in the code when syncing inventory slot IDs. Hopefully version 1.0.33 should fix it once and for all *crosses fingers*

Also the mod literally deleting people's equipment was ... well not catching that going from my test server to my live server was entirely my fault, regardless, if you "need" to alter the equipment slots, then you shouldn't touch the rest of the inventory.
I've updated to the latest version of InfiniteInvo and every added in Inventory Tweaks, but after spending 10+ minutes on a test server with 2 accounts, trying my hardest to get it to bug out to try and fix; having the test server come back clean; and then not even 30 seconds into going Live the issues came right back....
I really wanted to use your mod, it finally gave players something to use their XP on. But it's still having far too many issues, syncing issues mostly. And since I'm not sure how I can even get you logs to make efforts on my own to fix, I've removed it from my modpack. Best of luck.

I was going to post a bug report, but i now realize its not your mod causing it. Fantastic mod! Adds some depth to the amount of control you can have in minecraft. Maybe you could add a way to remove the moving items to entity inventories when scrolling over the items? Example: Every time I scroll up in my inventory and I have a furnace open, it always tries to move that item to the furnace.

1.8 version will come when forge has a stable version for 1.8.3 (or 1.8.4) because the current one is riddled with numerous bugs I don't want to have to deal with knowing I'll have to update it again later.
Can you give me the error log for your crash otherwise there really isn't much I can do to help.

For copying items not working, im not sure maybe it tries to copy a block that is outside the bounds of the vanilla inventory making it return null
For copying blocks from world, well it places them sometimes in the inventory but on the wrong place.
But I might have an idea to resolve your compatibility issues together.
Like the other mods, I suggest you just make a new tab and leave the normal interface untouched.
In that tab you have a couple of small buttons:

I realize the source is messy but some of the best mods from 1.6.4 and 1.7.10 were.

Unfortunately I had to pass on this mod because of dual wielding and crashes ... I will keep an eye on it as it gets fixed.
