What is Beacon?
Beacon looks at your saved servers list, and if there are any outdated or missing mods in your Minecraft installation, it will show them in a list. You can then download them straight from the in-game GUI. A quick restart, and you're ready to play!
What mods can I download using Beacon?
The list of downloadable mods can be found here. We are always adding more mods to it!
Screenshots:
In the Multiplayer menu while having a missing mod to one of the servers:
The Beacon menu. "securitycraft v1.6.1" is a missing mod that I have. I can download it just by clicking the "Download mod" button in the bottom-left corner:
Permissions from mod authors:
Note: These are the people that I asked if I could add their mod(s) to Beacon. People that have submitted their mods through GitHub are not in this list.
FiskFille (Quote: Yeah, I'd love if you did! Beacon sounds like such a cool project! :D)
Darkhax (Quote: Sure, but you will have to mess around with versions and stuff)
BugzooMods (Quote: Sure )
bl4ckscor3 (Quote: You got my permission.)
Download Beacon:
Note: Beacon dynamically downloads the latest mod list from GitHub. Updates will not contain new mod lists, they will be updates to newer versions of Minecraft and/or updates to Beacon itself.
How does this work? Did you only get those permissions in the box? Are there more mods? Can I have a complete list of supported mods?
How does this work?
You can find the source code for Beacon here. Basically, whenever Minecraft establishes a connection with a server, it compares the mod list of the server and your client, and displays the missing mod(s).

Those are the people I've asked for permission to add their mod(s) to Beacon. People that have submitted their mod(s) through a pull request on Beacon's GitHub repository are not listed there. (as their permission is strongly implied.)

The current list of downloadable mods can be found here. More mods will definitely be added as more modders find out about Beacon.

i fail to see the point of this. Would it not be easier for a server admin to use a launcher that they can update any/all mods they want instead of the little list that you have that ppl have to wait for you to up date?

Well, this isn't for people who play on really heavily modded servers, or servers that use big modpacks like FTB or Tekkit. Using the official laucher for those types of modded servers would be much better. It's for people like me, that don't use launchers, or only play on smaller servers.
I've just created a Google Docs form for people to use to submit their mods if they don't want to use GitHub pull requests. You can find the form here (or in the OP).

This looks like an interesting project, although not one I think I personally have need of. I'll submit my mods via PR in a moment.
You have my permission for my custom coded modpack thing, but I don't feel like figuring out what the mod id is, nor do I want to open IntelliJ
Anyways, here is a link
Try Diamond-Lang, it's Ruby (the programming language) for One Command Creations.
This looks great, however i feel it needs more mods to support.
Great work anyway!
