while making my favorite saber, i cam across the problem of the different part colors. I love the green leather on the ancient vaid grip and also the knighted emitter. This gave me a colorbook instead of a well designed hilt.
Here is an idea: In the part's code file (in c++ its the heather, idk for java) Add a const static int materialValue;
This value can either be 0, 1 or 2. 0 = black, 1 = grey and 2 = silver.
Depending on this value, it will have a different texture (use the color picker and bucket tool in paint and save the alternate textures with either _01 or _02 behind it, use a logic if statement to determine wich texture is used).
The material value can be altered using either bonemeal, ink sacs or grey dye in a shapeless recipe.
This small feature would be a great addition to the mod and would make the sabers look better.
The bug report:
This issue has to deal with the fact that all sabers have the same idea. I am a builder on a sw minecraft server, and when teleporting to the builders dimension, it saves and removes my inventory (to prevent cheating as the dimension is creative). When going back, it restores my inv. Now, my saber got replaced with a basic graflex one since they all have the same id.
My solution: add a damage value to each crafted saber that works as a code. they will be grouped per 2 numbers and the first 2 will be emit, then 2 for switch, and so on. after the parts comes a double digit for the crystal color and the last 2 are the 2 focus crystals, 0 being none.
This would for example result in this:
01 = knighted emit
02 = prodigal son switch
05 = ancient vaid grip
01 = knighted pommel
12 = orange crystal
30 = fine cut and none focus crystals.
Very interesting ideas, both of those. I'll most likely implement the leather thing in the next update.
Hello. i've read the FAQ and it doesnt cover this question: will there be a enchanting or other ways to up the damage on lightsabers? i run a heavily modded minecraft and the monsters are sometimes very resilient making these awesome sabers look weak by compared to other items.
i've used a mod to forcibly add enchants but that leads to a CTD upon hitting an enemy.
So, will enchanting or upgrading for damage be a thing?
Welp... My fault
There are 82.692.587.947.662 possible lightsabers:
9 Blade Emitters * 9 Switch Modules * 9 Grips * 9 Pommels * 18 Color Crystals = 118.098
4 Focussing crystals = 11 extra options (A + nothing, A + B, A + C, A + D, B + nothing, B + C, B + D, C + nothing, C + D, D + nothing and nothing).
118.098 * 11 = 1.299.078.
3 Focussing crystals = 7 extra options (A + nothing, A + B, A + C, B + nothing, B + C, C + nothing and nothing).
1.299.078 * 7 = 9.093.546 single bladed lightsabers possible.
9.093.546 single bladed lightsabers possible * 9.093.546 single bladed lightsabers possible = 82.692.578.854.116 double bladed lightsabers possible.
82.692.578.854.116 double bladed lightsabers possible + 9.093.546 single bladed lightsabers possible = 82.692.587.947.662 total lightsabers possible.
Please say it's good this time.
PS. Could you add the pieces of the darksaber? I know the crystals are already there, but I mean the Blade Emiter, Switch Module, Grip and Pommel.
Also, maybe add an API for modders to make there own parts and crystals? Also, I think it's a great idea to add an Focussing Crystal for a big blade.
