if you can find it there was a version for 1.6.4 that did not. The newer versions for 1.6.4 (with the world map) require liteloader however. If all you want is the minimap though, you can use the old forge (or jarmod) versions
Would it be possible to make the mod save the cache periodically, instead of only when you quit to main title (at least on multiplayer? Not that I know f there's any difference other than the inability to read the region files)? I have a rather poor machine that likes to crash all the time, which means map on a server I play on only gets saved when I'm lucky enough for the game to not crash.
maybe he means the version for Minecraft 1.8 beta? There was one..
Or he could be referring to the fact that Liteloader for 1.8 is considered a development build. dunno. At any rate VoxelMap would have nothing at all to do with screen tearing so I've no idea really
It's just a mapping mod. It shows the landscape and sometimes reveals caves around you. You can add waypoints to track where important locations are. It's mostly just a general utility mod.
I'd like to report a problem with VoxelMap Controls menu. When I set VoxelMap menu to Button 4 it resets to NONE every time I join a server. Looks like it also happens to Toggle Mobs key.
This is the best map mod. Been using it a few days now on a survival server. Absolutely love it! Can't imagine playing minecraft now without it. Since I have OP on the server I can set waypoints and tp to any place I've set a waypoint at. Soooooo awesome.
Please continue to develop this but not add cheats so that it's allowed on survival servers. I'm not a fan of being able to see cave systems though that's going a bit too far for survival servers. Maybe a gimped survival server edition would be nice because this mod is banned on a lot of strict survival servers. The server I play on is a bit more relaxed and allows this mod. Keep up the great work I love it, it's improved the time spent in minecraft dramatically. Thank you.
The mod comes with multiple methods for servers to disable the cave feature. One of those methods makes it detectable to servers. That they then ban instead of using the feature to, dunno, disable the caves is rather vexing to me. I'm tempted to just take that method out so they have no idea if a user is using it or not, but that wouldn't be fair to the people who use it for what it is meant for. One of these days maybe I'll set up a poll on my patreon and let people vote with their wallets for whether it stays or goes haha ..or I could make a version that doesn't have cave etc (thus no need to have a method to disable them, and thus invisible to the server)
Mine makes a google maps like webpage. Someone else made one that stitches them all together into one giant PNG, which some people prefer: https://github.com/GauthIronstaff/VoxelStitch

I'm with you on this, it's almost encouraging mod authors to just remove permissions support, the exact opposite of a logical reaction in all honesty. Mod tries to do the right thing and support granular permissions: users get kicked anyway.
I've been trying to get "Output Images" to work on a server of mine, but it's not working.
I've done it before on the same server (months ago), and though I remember finding it infuriating to get right, it still worked. Now, every time I run Minecraft with the Output Images option enabled, I just get a laggier map that takes much longer to load, with no images generating at all. If I delete the "z1" folder, all it does is make a new one, that it leaves empty, and if I empty the "z1" folder, it just does nothing.

Hey, a long time ago I asked about my map getting deleted when I tried exploring too much on the world, or even flicking my map around really far. After awhile, I lose precious map data I'd have loved to keep and I get sad. Has that been changed at all? Any plans on adding an option on increasing map limits? Been so long since I last played and would love to have a better mapping experience.
Changing zoom level completely loses map data. Back to a black screen except the square I'm in. Markers are still present but I cannot tp to them because the area is now undiscovered. so yeah... DO NOT change your map zoom levels. They will get corrupted. :*(
I'd like to report a problem with VoxelMap Controls menu. When I set VoxelMap menu to Button 4 it resets to NONE every time I join a server. Looks like it also happens to Toggle Mobs key.
fixed in 1.5.18. Can now bind voxelmap functions to mouse buttons in the voxelmap controls menu (you already could in the minecraft controls menu) and unlike before the bindings will be remembered

Images are not actually written until the cached chunk data is unloaded. If your cache size is really large, that might not happen until you log out of the server. Tested and working here

if you explore far enough or move the map far enough some of the cached data will be written to disk and removed from the memory cache to make room for the new stuff. It doesn't disappear forever. If you move the map back to it, it will load from disk again. UNLESS you have no write privileges to your disk, in which case nothing would save at all and it would all go away when you shut down Minecraft. If it's still there when you close Minecraft and then log in again, it's being written to disk just fine. If something disappears, once you move the map back to it, it will load from the disk again. You could also increase the size of your map cache in the persistent map settings to make that happen less often (it will use more memory though)

Changing zoom level where? In the minimap? That should have nothing to do with the display of stored map data in the persistent world map. If you could be a little more specific about what is happening (minimap / world map, what you mean by changing zoom etc)
This happens whenever i make a new world. It spawns on near the deleted one. It is in 1.7.10
This is because your world name is the same every time. The worldmap isn't saved in your save folder.
Is there any way for me to make an addon for this? Kinda like Waila Harvestability is an addon for Waila
If not, I'll just give you my suggestion through PM
there's no real API for making coding style changes. Addons are limited to custom mob and waypoint icons really. What did you have in mind? PM is fine
Is liteloader required for the 1.6.4 version? Its been so long since I used it that I cant remember, and Im feeling nostalgic today.
I dont remember. Its been SO long. I guess I will try it and see
Edit: 1.6.4 works without liteloader

yeah that should be doable. I didn't by default to not write to the disk more than necessary, but I can make it an option
Anyone use the 1.8 beta version? Whenever I try it there is massive amounts of screen tearing, It's rather horrifying.
Beta? The 1.5.17 version is the latest one.

Using VoxelMap 1.5.17 on Minecraft 1.8

mouse button bind: didn't foresee that, can fix.

It is actually possible, if a little involved https://github.com/MamiyaOtaru/anvilmapper

This is why we can't have nice things.
