Here's a suggestion I think would be nice. Allow steam heaters, when placed adjacent to a water block, to heat up that water block to boiling. The purpose of this would be for traps and mob farms. BOIL THOSE ZOMBIES TO DEATH.
As a side effect, animals that drop food items would drop cooked versions of those foods. This would be similar to the Steam Trap from Railcraft, but I think more in line with this mod.

You sir, are a prince among men. Give the Krampus a high-five next time you see him.
A few questions then, are the crushed ores you make with the rock smasher forge-dictionary aware? Will they swap out for regular ores from other mods?
How compatible are your crushed ores with Tinker's Construct? Can we make brass in a smeltery? Can we use aluminum brass from Tinker's Construct in this mod?

The crushed ores are not oredictionary aware as of right now. I'm deciding on whether I want to use the OreDict or just add an API thing for modders to add their ores. All ores that use the oredict names that are valid for crushed ores should work with the Rock Smasher.
The Ti C stuff is all on its end, not mine, so I have no idea as I do not use the mod.
If aluminum brass is oredicted as ingotBrass then you can use it.

OreDict is really good... an API for them would be just a bit of a bother.
You know, if you have boiling water blocks, you also have a heat source for the Thaumcraft Crucible... *scratches chin while musing the multiple awesomes this thought provokes*

I assume a boiling water source block would need to be in contact with a boiler at all times or it would turn back into regular water shortly so while it would prevent less fire spread you might as well use that little flame thing from TC.
Steam powered brass/bronze golems?! Yes that would be appreciated too.
Maybe they can do different things based off of their accessories, like have a base golem and give him a hat and he can move things, give him a chest plate and he is armored, give him a sword and he can defend, give him a hoe and he can farm, give him an axe and he can chop, etc etc etc
Personally, I'd prefer to not have a steampunk flavored copy of thaumcraft golems added to this mod... but that's just me.
Ditto.
By the way, y'all, I've got some other development stuff to work on for a little bit for the FTB Wiki (and my Minetweaker-Atom plugin). I'm also being evicted from my apartment and currently dealing with moving, then there are more holidays, so until my life settles down, work on this (or any of my mods, really) mod will be limited.

I aree with you Koumori, that would be boring and lazy, and in truth I was thinking more along the lines of Steamjack from the Warmachine/Iron Kingdoms franchise:
In the IKverse Steamjack is just an general term for two sub type's: Laborjack and Warjack each of witch is further broken down into Light and Heavy wight class's with a special Colossal class for Warjacks (the one in the above pic is a heavy). Laborjack's have things like (literal) welding arm's, chain saw arm's for logging and braking up scrap metal, Drill arm's for mining, Cargoclamp "hand's", Riveter arm's, back mounted crane's, even harpoon cannon's and flensing blade's for whaling. As for Warjack's check this fan site: http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/
The dude's in the front with gun's are just run of the mill infantry the one's behind them aren't 'jacks (Khador doesn't field light 'jacks) but solders in steam powered armor, they are however the rough size of light 'jacks, on the outside edge's are Spreggan-class Heavy 'jacks, and I REALLY don't have to tell you what the last one is.
Another thing to add are the cortex's or the brain's of the jack's, here is the fluff for the cortex from the (now out of print) original 3.5 rulebook:
Size is't the only factor that determines a steamjack's capabilities. All steamjacks are outfitted with a cortex, thought only warjacks have cortexes capable of rapidly interpreting new information and making tactical decisions. These military-grade cortexes incorporate a matrix of alchemical aurum and other, highly purified components. Labor 'jack grade cortexes are designed to respond to simple comands and are not intended for combat. However, nearly all modern cortex architecture allows for some degree of learning and adaptation. The cortex is a complicated matrix of arcane patterns, developed from the technology of mechanika runes. While it may rightly be said that a cortex is similar to the rune plates in mechanikal devices, such a comparison is a serious injustice to the highly complex art of cortex construction. Cortexes contain actual sentience, Although not complex, the intelligence of a steamjack makes it capable of following complicated orders and preforming complex tasks. Over time, some 'jacks seem to gain some modicum of a personality, showing quirky behavior and odd eccentricities. much of this depends on how the 'jack is treated by its handlers.
The cortex is housed within the body of the 'jack, behind the head and just a few inches from the turbines. This protects the cortex, placeing the chest plate and several feet of furnace between it and harm. The cortex is a sphere constructed from brass and crystal, wrapped in a series of carefully etched, flexible plates. Each cortex has several layers, acting as arcane meridians. The primary focus, a cystal orb, sits in the center of the sphere. Along the three primary axes of cortex are connection sockets, one the hooks up to the turbine conduits, and another the connects the cortex to the 'jack's sensory equipment and the focus receptor. Flameproof felt baffles protect the cortex from shock and provide stability.
Cortex construction is an art. In theory the cortex is essentially blank at creation, allowing behaviors and response patterns to be slowly etched into its matrix. If this is the case, then perhaps there is some truth to the saying the "an old 'jack can't be taught new tricks." Steamjacks that have been around for a long time tend to be smarter and know more, but they don't take well to new handlers or new orders, and jackheads tend to chalk this up to plain old stubbornness.
Jackheads, steamos, junkers, and mechaniks all know that a new steamjack is as naive and loyal as a newborn puppy, and the massive constructs loyally follow their handler everywhere if out ordered to 'sit' or 'stay.' In fact, steamjack handlers have to train their steamjacks to tread softly, not step on anyone, and behave. This process takes time. Most jackheads have a bit of fun with new 'jacks, training them to do tricks like opening kegs of lager by tearing off the top and standing on one foot for hours. Some steamjacks show uncanny signs of sentience, often taking the initiative to protect their handlers or anticipate reactions.
Cortex Grades
A steamjack's cortex grade indicates the general level of decision-making and intellect that it possesses. Stteamjack intelligence is redimentary, so they generally require close supervision. The more advanced the cortex, the more autonomous the steamjack. Each cortex is stamped with an alchemical symbol that represents the grade and complexity of the cortex design, which is generally the same as the steamjack model.
Cupernum Grade A steamjack with a cupernum grade cortex is capable of doing all of the task described under the 'Jack Handling skill with instruction. These 'jacks usually require a great deal of handling and a watchful eye.
Ferrum Grade These cortexes are used in most abor'jacks. The steam jack can carry out the following commands without supervision: Move, Fetch, Follow, Seek, Stay, and Work.
Aurum Grade Steamjacks designed to preform tasks requiring intelligence and problem solving are normally equipped with aurum grade cortexes--thehighest labor 'jack grade cortex. This cortex allows a 'jack to preform all of the standard tasks listed under the 'Jack Handling skill without supervision. A handler is only required for tasks that involve complex strategy, problem solving, or manual dexterity. Many warjacks are also equipped with this grade of cortex.
Arcanum Grade This military-grade cortex is always chosen for high performance warjack designs. An arcanum grade cortex allows a warjack to operate with intellect and facility. A 'jack handler is only needed when a warjack with this cortex needs coaxing to preform an intricate or complicated task that would normally require a skill check or some other type roll.
Please note, that for legal reason's I can't post any rule text so I cut them out, I'm going to going to make a post on the Privater Press board to see if it's OK to post the 'Jack Handling skill text here. Also the Colossal's having come out after the 3.5 books were discontinued have a fifth cortex class exclusive to them, the Arcanum Supernum, a cortex bigger then a heavy 'jack this monstrosity is necessary to control the extra amount of weapons that other smaller jacks don't have, and as such is the only grade they can use.
As you can see any bot's added by this mod doesn't have to be a reskinning of Thaumcraft's golems. Obviously any trace of magic will have to be scrubbed out of the fluff but that's no problem.
Edit: Spoilers not working properly for some reason.
Hello mate! Awesome mod, really enjoing it, but I am here to reporg a bug. Yesterday when I installed it everything was OK, but then I started using a bit newer Forge version and the textures of the Boiler and Pipe block and invisible and seetrough. Hope you can fix it, or if it's a problem on my side any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance! (Sorry for any spelling mistakes)
That's been reported. I will look into it once the stuff I noted in my last post settles.
