This mod can be particularly useful in conjunction with server plugins such as McMMO (Alchemy skill) or mods that give access to more advanced potion functionality.
To give yourself potions with custom effects in vanilla Minecraft, use the following command: /give @p minecraft:potion 1 8192 {CustomPotionEffects:[1:{Id:X,Amplifier:Y,Duration:Z}]}
This is a good mod. Perfect for LiteLoader. Does everything as described. It's a nice aesthetic touch to the game, adding just that small amount of customization it was missing. Thanks for the release!
It looks like a pretty good mod, but do you plan to make this mod Brewcraft compatible, and maybe make a Forge version of this mod?

I'll take a look at Brewcraft this evening, as I'm unfamiliar with it.
As far as a Forge version, LiteLoader and Forge/FML play very nicely together. I would really only consider a Forge version if Forge would become necessary for any features or compatibility.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad this little mod has found some loving homes.
It looks like a pretty good mod, but do you plan to make this mod Brewcraft compatible, and maybe make a Forge version of this mod?
What kind of compatibility are you looking for?
Deglint and effect-based coloring: PotionColorizer overrides return values of two ItemPotion methods. Brewcraft potions must not extend ItemPotion, and as such are unaffected. Adding these features to Brewcraft potions is outside the scope of this mod, and is best handled by Brewcraft itself.
Custom effect colors: Provided that Brewcraft potion effects are added to Potion.potionTypes, PotionColorizer should be able to modify their colors out of the box. Glancing at the source, it seems that Brewcraft does indeed modify the Potion.potionTypes array. I'll look into why the panel doesn't list the nonstandard potion types. If it's something wrong on my end, I'll come up with a solution.
Edit: I've found out why the configuration panel doesn't list the added potion types, and fixed the issue (changed timing of default color saving). I'm finishing up a new version with a nicer color picker interface, so I'll include these changes in that release.
I'll be updating my LiteLoader mods to 1.8 this week. I rarely if ever check these forums, please direct all comments and/or requests to GitHub as detailed in the original post.
I wanted a mod like this for a while. Now its here!

If I helped you in any way or agree in my ideas or posts, make sure you click that green arrow pointing up below my post or simply huggle me! I use 1.7.10 (Modded), so when I comment that I like a 1.8 mod, I will comment to downgrade to 1.7.10. I support no pics, no clicks. Suggestions that I think that are the best deserves a banner!
It is almost time to say goodbye to 1.7.10 because of the recent surge of big 1.9 mods.
Why MCreator sucks: jcm2606's file (doesn't open a new tab) He allows/welcomes anyone to link the file, so I put it here in my signature for people to know how MCreator functions. I thank jcm2606 (he's awesome) for creating the document/file and I'm just here to spread the word.
I'm not sure if you're still active and/or want to continue this project (it looks cool!) but I feel like mentioning that in Minecraft 1.9 potion colors are defined by their effects, perhaps you can look into making a utility to get potion colors in 1.9?

X = Effect ID (see http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Status_effect)

Yeah now most servers are 1.8 and you can't join with a 1.7 client. I really want this but I cannot get it to work
