Hello! This is Brick-a-Brac, the first mod I've created to date. It runs on 1.7.10 and simply serves to add a variety of decorative blocks to the game.
Features
Bricks! Small bricks! Panels! That's all there is do it, really! For now, at least - I'm planning all sorts of cool decorative blocks, but being so green in the world of coding I'm not quite to the point of adding them yet.
Vanilla blocks:
Mod blocks (creative-only, unless you have the proper mods):
For the builder's convenience, the bricks mostly have the same properties as Stone Bricks, including hardness and blast resistance, as opposed to the vanilla storage block which is much harder to mine as well as far more expensive. The exceptions to this are dirt and quartz bricks, both of which are as soft as their respective materials. All bricks except for dirt must be broken with a pick (any pick will do), while dirt bricks act just like regular dirt: you don't need a tool to drop them, but a shovel works faster.
Recipes
I haven't done anything to impede NEI, so for future reference, feel free to check it. The recipes are simple, though:
Precious Bricks:
Eight stone bricks in a circle around one unit of whatever it is you want to use. For now, this can be: Dirt, Coal, Iron, Gold, Emerald, Diamond or Quartz. This recipe produces eight bricks, essentially only using the ingot in the process. This recipe supports Forge's Ore Dictionary, meaning you can convert Precious Bricks between one another as well as using them in any crafting recipes that may require them (in theory).
Small PreciousBricks:
Any one Precious Brick can be crafted down into a Small Precious Brick. Small Bricks can be broken down further into smooth Panels, which can then be crafted back into the large Bricks. Small Bricks and Panels are, of course, identical to their counterparts, except with a different texture.
They should all also be oreDicted, so you can convert them to other bricks without needing to craft them back first.
Download
Download's right here. No AdFly nonsense, either. Just get your mod and play it, already.
Do whatever you want with it. Unless you're on the FTB team, in which case kindly keep your grubby paws off of me and my work. That translates to: Members of the FTB team are prohibited from using my mods in their packs. Other than that, don't redistribute my mod, don't make any money off of it. That aside you're free to do whatever with it without my permission. Put it in modpacks, modify it, whatever. Go right ahead, no need to ask, I don't care and I probably won't reply if you do.
Bug Reports
Feel free to give me a post here about any bugs you find. In particular I worry I might have mucked up some crafting recipes. If you notice any recipes that are off, or any other odd behaviors, don't hesitate to report them in this thread - I'll make sure to fix them right up!

Big thanks to Masocristy for her wonderful texture work! This mod would likely have taken much longer and come out much worse if not for her. After all, I'm a programmer, not an artist.
It's a pretty decent decorative mod for those who like decorative ore blocks and whatnot, and nice job. And I'm going to use this in my modpack.

Pretty fantastic, loving that the textures have actually had some effort and aren't just the brick grid transposed over the storage block. Are you considering mod support?

Absolutely. Most common mod metals (copper, tin, lead, silver, some others) will be supported and depending on how much Masocristy feels like doing it there might even be more styles of bricks in the future.
I'm also planning on eventually adding slabs, stairs and walls of each brick type as well. For now, if you want that functionality I can point you towards Carpenter's Blocks or Immibis' Microblocks.
Really like this mod, it adds some very cool blocks/textures to the game which while simple, I believe adds a lot to the game. Especially for people who love building beautiful buildings in their game.
Hope it's okay, but did a spotlight of the mod if you're interested.
People defiantly deserve to see this mod And I look forward to seeing where it goes.
Oh, gosh! Thanks a ton, GCSmith, that's really flattering! (Minor nitpick: I'd actually pronounce my name something like 'sy-code,' but that's not a big deal) I really appreciate the spotlight.
Also, a general update: Masocristy and I are working on more textures to update the mod as we speak. I hope to add a fair number of cool decorative bricks (and beyond, in the future) before moving onto mod metal support.
Can you make some more laboratory/factory like decorative blocks?
Glad you like the mod! I can definitely see about adding some laboratory-like blocks in the future, perhaps adding some unique decorative blocks crafted out of the special bricks, eh? I'll give some thought to that idea and see where it goes.

Now to retexture everything to fit my textures.
Feel free. I gave your thread a quick look and now I'm interested to see how you do with them.
Oh god, that thread is so old.
And my style hasnt even changed
