Sneaking/RMB with a crossbow is how you unload it, so you may consider it a feature. However, I don't know how using a bow while sneaking would make it overpowered, because "sneaking" is on no way sneaking. It would only be a disadvantage because mobs could catch you faster.

The problem is, the tools out of Thermal Foundation metals has Thermal Expansion as a dependency, which is inconvenient if you don't WANT to use Thermal Expansion. Thermal Foundation is perfectly reasonable to have on it's own, since Ender I/O handles my RF needs right now. I mostly have COFH Core and Thermal Foundation to handle my ore generation. Some mods do use Platinum(Shiny Metal) for instance, so its good to have Thermal Foundation anyway, just to have a single mod control all the general ores you're likely to use.
Basically, Thermal FOUNDATION should be the dependancy regarding those metals, not Thermal Expansion.
They are currently undocumented. Trial and error is all we have for the moment.

I think there already is one. "Balanced Flux Modifier" in the configs.
Almost all of the blocks in my tinkers construct have wierd textures in my inventory and for those blocks, only the half slab versions actually render.(Includes Tool Forge, Tool Station, most Smeltery parts, Stencil Table, etc.)
The mods I have are Iguana Tinker Tweaks, Extra TiC, TiC Tooltips, Damage Indicators, Flans Mod, Optifine, Ars Magica, HarvestCraft, Mutant Creatures,
Better Furnaces, Lucky Blocks, Animal Bikes, Malisis Doors, Metallurgy 4, NEI, and the Familiars Mod, all of which have all their necessary mods installed.
My Tinkers Construct version is 1.8.1

- Fix crashes when trying to craft bows/crossbows with materials that don't support it
- Some fixes when TinkerSmeltery is disabled
- Some more crash fixes and preventions
