If you have a mod that lets you craft chain, that won't work.
Grab "base metals" and the orespawn mod (make sure you take the RELEASE, not the beta). There's a low tech crack hammer based crafting way.
Railcraft has Steel (coal -> coal coke / coal coke + iron -> steel) but you need to build two multiblock structures first, the coke oven and blast furnace. Mekanism has steel too, I think that's a bit easier to make. Ancient Warfare has steel too (I think you have to cook iron in a normal furnace) but it's recipe is so easy that I would consider that cheating. There is a dedicated mod for Tinkers Construct (Tinkers Steelworks), but I think it's quite outdated.
That's actually what I was using for a 1.10.2 build I was using before, but unfortunately, that one still isn't updated to 1.11.2.
Well, thanks both of you guys for the help, but unfortunately all of those mods are still in 1.10.2. I'll just have to keep looking around or wait for one of them to update.

Zombies can sometimes wear chain armor, and thus can drop it. Great way to get steel.

Before you post something on the Tinkers' Construct thread... please read this.
If you have a crash log, READ it before posting it (and if you do, use spoilers). Some stuff should be obvious to where it comes from. Try reproducing the same thing with only Tinkers' Construct or Mantle on vanilla Forge (please do make sure that you're using the latest TiC and Mantle versions). If it still does happen, report it to the issue tracker (Yes, you have to sign up... but it's not that hard).
Last but not least, please do not ask for unsupported versions (1.7.10, 1.8.9) or ask for non-existent ones (1.8)!
Just a quick question, is it still possible to make unbreakable shurikens in the recent version? I made some in my server but when i shoot them they dont do damage and even the "ammo" is kinda buggy in the screen, as it show in the img...

you used manyelium, the "insatable" on it can cause additional damage by consuming durability on strike.
That bag, it's either actually additions or random things, I think actually additons, it's a "bindle" if I remember right.

Casting channels were never working "quite right" and finally were removed for good.
For now, you have to use some other mods' pipes. You can attach faucet to any applicable tank/pipe so there's no lost usability.
I can't seem to use all of the crafting station crafting space. I try to create an axe and I can't complete the recipe. Also, my fps drops below 10 when I use the station. I would like to know how to fix it.
can anybody explain the new "embossed" feature?
Is the new best method to make a pick with a cobalt head, for the pure stats and raw speed, and then emboss 5 paper heads into it to get 5 writable modifiers, add 5 plates to make it indestructable, emboss an iron to get magnetic, and then sharpen it to mynelium so it'll break anything?
Emboss ADDS properties, but does not remove properties, and does not change numbers, right?
