This has probably been suggested already, but Im really tired of reading atm so Im just posting my thoughts. Any thoughts to TC armor and shields? They could have resist modifiers added or self repair to use an old modifier (which I really liked), etc.
Now Ive only played 1.7.10 so far, just getting into 1.10.2 so slap me if this is already how it works, the metals have different qualities which is cool, but what if different tiers of metal are more accepting than others of the modifiers. An example would be tin, copper..etc not accepting any modifiers being that is a poorer metal quality, iron, steel, etc would accept 1 or 2 modifiers like a mid quality metal and silver, gold, etc accept 3 modifiers (dont get your undies in a twist this is just an example). The tiers could go by real world standards, hardness/durability, etc. Again, just some thoughts.

Not happening in base Tinker's. There's a mod called Tinker's Defense which will be adding these things but is currently updating to 1.10.2, so be patient.
I created my map under worldpainter, and I would like to know what minerals add to be fully compatible with your mod?
If necessary, should I add Mods? Which?
For information I play in 1.10.2
Thank you
In WorldPainter you need to check "Let Minecraft Populate Resources" when exporting the world and they will generate automatically. There are also settings in WorldPainter that allow you to customly paint where they can spawn, how much, etc. if you enable the "Extended Block IDs" box or whatever it's called. Don't remember.
No, that functionality should be active. I've used it in MC 1.10.2.
Under the Crafting Station specifically? maybe, because a chest can not open with a solid block on top of it? I can assure you that a chest next to a Crafting Station should be "linked".
1. Might have been tweaked as I only have the 1.10.2 version that was included with the HermitPack. Will check it under FTB Unstable.
2. In 1.7.10 you could place a crafting station over a chest and it opened fine, when I tried it with the 1.10.2 version it connected to the inventory of the Hopper beside it instead of the chest underneath, and they didn't used to be able to access hopper's before..
Probably a noob question here, but is there any way to enable vanilla tools and weapons? I've tried altering the config file with no luck.
The problem is I really want my girlfriend to play with me and my friend but she's really used to vanilla MC and hates that she can't make vanilla items. Plus, learning Tinker's Construct is pretty confusing.
Nope. Been through the config files about 20 times. Even tried adding my own options to it from things I found around the net.
Weird thing is that many other people on the web are saying Tinker's Construct DOES disable vanilla tools. But you guys are saying it doesn't. I'm way confused.

It seems there is a lot of confusion about what each mod does.
1) Tinkers' Construct alone never has and does not disable or mess with Vanilla tools in any way. Anybody who says they do does not know what they are talking about.
2) In the past, Iguana Tinker Tweaks (an addon for Tinkers' Construct) did disable vanilla tools, but the mod itself had to be present with the config option for it. Also, ITT is not available for 1.10.2 at the moment anyway.
Have you tried downloading a fresh copy of the mods with Forge? Also, check to see what each mod does and if any messes with recipes. If that doesn't work, try adding Minetweaker and adding in a recipe for the pickaxe manually. If you're using a custom launcher, make sure it's actually booting the instance with the mods in the list.

Before you post something on the Tinkers' Construct thread... please read this.
If you have a crash log, READ it before posting it (and if you do, use spoilers). Some stuff should be obvious to where it comes from. Try reproducing the same thing with only Tinkers' Construct or Mantle on vanilla Forge (please do make sure that you're using the latest TiC and Mantle versions). If it still does happen, report it to the issue tracker (Yes, you have to sign up... but it's not that hard).
Last but not least, please do not ask for unsupported versions (1.7.10, 1.8.9) or ask for non-existent ones (1.8)!
Pretty sure there isn't, as the cleaver is supposed to be a two-handed weapon and all that.
Just change the handle for a new one.
I'm not 100% sure with this one, but I think that having the cleaver in the offhand and a shield in your main hand and blocking will also set things on fire, so if you really want to, you could have a shield in your off-hand, then switch with your cleaver to block and set things on fire when you want to.
Thanks AllenWl, that does indeed work. kind of fiddly to keep switching but it works.
Even though a cleaver is a two handed weapon, I think you should be able to block if you have nothing in your offhand. You can block with two handed weapons
I think I'll just switch one of the handles out anyway and put some blaze powder in it
The cleaver not working with the shield was intentionally coded for balance in the game. If you wish to use a weapon with a shield, use a broadsword.

From what you're saying, it sounds like something is messing with your recipe or there's something in your config that's doing that.

Yeah apparently They did something in HermitPack that disabled the tabs for connected tinker tables as it shows up in the FTB Unstable pack.

tinkers does not disabled vanilla tools though other mods DO disabled vanilla tools like iguana's tinker tweaks if i remember correctly.
It is iguana tweaks. Config page about line 20 I think.
I am ba-ack... looking for some fun in the future..with my mates!
Guys I don't have Iguana installed though.

Maybe an old config from Iguana is in there? Check the config folder and delete it if it is in there.

Thanks for trying to help though!
Check the TiC config. I remember there was an option to disable vanilla tools in 1.7.10.
When you post a mod: "No pics no clicks" and "MCreator = bad ~99% of the time"
Don't forget to read the crashlog before reporting the crash. It might tell you why it's crashing.
