Hey there. I am (trying to) making a map for this mod. I was testing the Gym Leaders and thought of something.
Could you make trainers more customizable?
Like, choose the moves that their pokemobs may use.
Or maybe make a more challenging Battle AI
~ i'm sorry for the broken english
edit: and trainers are kind of hard to look like i want 'em to be. like, the texture, and "type"
i dunno if there is already a way but can you add new textures and trainer types through resource packs?
Is there a way to make nurses, mart shopkeepers, trainers, and/or gym leaders using the /summon command (or anything else that could be put into a command block)? I'm making some pokecube-themed structures in Ruins mod, and right now the pokecenters in my custom villages look kind of empty without a nurse. If it is possible to make trainers/shopkeepers, any way to manipulate their pokemobs/inventory, or would they be random?
This does sound like some kind of memory leak. I have heard that these are most typically caused by bad packet handling within one (or more) or your mods. If the only mods you have installed, are PokeCube mods, then I'd suggest casting a vile look at Thutmose.
Can you quantify " a while"? When I run a modpack server online, I typically make sure that it auto-restarts once or twice a day.
A memory leak definitely seems fitting. Yeah I wouldn't mind once a day maintenance but for me the lag gets unbearable within an hour sometimes. The lag seems correlated with map generation in that if I fly around it tends to worsen things more quickly. But again, because the server never recovers, some sort of memory leak seems to be the culprit.
I have noticed this occur after long durations on my external testing server, but have yet to narrow down the cause.
I will try to look into some long term local server testing, if you can find a quick way to make this happen please let me know, I should be able to get it fixed.
I don't think it should be related to packets, as I haven't changed how I deal with those lately, but it chould be somehow related to that.

Thanks for the reply. I think the fastest way to reproduce the lag and "can't keep up!" messages is to get on a flying pokemon and fly in a straight line to generate as much world as possible. My server starts lagging sooner if multiple people are playing and moving around the map generating chunks.
I have a question about the Pokecube's Test server that's already on when I play because of a Lan World I was playing with my brother. What would happen on the Server if you set the pokemon to be Culled for the server? I changed my world to cull so that it would run better, and found it also was nice for keeping new pokemon spawning. I really liked that. However, my brother can't seem to play with me on the Lan world after that. >.>"" He keeps getting on then immediately kicked on my Lan World. I haven't tested this with other Lan Worlds yet, though. It might just be my brother's computer is a bit too sucky.
My question is, What happens when you set your test server to cull?

I don't have it set to cull, mostly to test if the increase in ram load causes any issue, if I set it to cull, then things do despawn when you get too far away from them.
I wasn't managing that wiki page, not sure who was.
Any pokemob that flys ingame will fly if you can ride it, some that only float will fall to ground if you ride them instead. the mob needs to be physically large enough to ride though.
The secret base radar in the pokedex lets you find nearby entrances for secret bases, which are made by using secret power on terrain.

AH okay. Your testing how much it can take. Alrighty. Thank you. The server does well in the mornings, but every so often in the afternoon it seems everyone gets lagged? But then it fixes itself eventually.
Aw. Okay.
Alrighty. I discovered Flygon is big enough to fly on. Flying is a bit difficult though. They go very fast so it is hard to control in little bits. I've been trying to use the fly function for building more-so than travel. I decided to change "go down" button because I kept pressing shift in mid air. XD It's been fun, though.
Oooooohhh, Ohhh I wanna see what that does! Thank you for the info.
Oh, I also want to mention about the server. I see people come on only stay about 2-5 minutes, and it might be that all of spawn for quite a while is a bunch of claimed land that no one can interact with. Makes it a tad difficult to start up in the server. I died quite a bit before finally reaching the west town. Might be why folks aren't sticking around too long. It seems like a wasteland of interactable land when you first arrive. At least, that was what I thought when I first entered myself. Can't quite speak much fo the other people.
Also, REALLY IMPORTANT, the Nether portals are kinda "broken". By that I mean all nether portals I have seen all return to the overworld into some guy's basement that you can't escape out of without using /spawn /home, or teleport.

that is a vanilla feature on the nether portals, you need to build one further away, or it will connect to the "default" portal instead.
That server is mostly a testing server, I can probably see about resetting it at some point to clear up the stale claims near spawn.
Not sure about the lag issues, could be the cheap server host it is running on, the server also has rather low amounts of ram available to it.

1. (For 1.12.1) Is there a new way to get revives? I've checked 3 town pokemarts and none of them sold them. JEI doesn't have a recipe, either.
2. Where do I get the type of shrub to make nestcubes? The dead bushes from the mesa I tried don't work.
3. What do the pokemob nests do?
1) They should brew from berries in a potion stand, I haven't checked if that does still work in 1.12.1, but it should.
2) the recipe is set to call for "minecraft:tallgrass" which should be obtainable via shears on tall grass in plains, i will confim this shortly. Seems this is currently broken, seems the shrubs no longer use the same id as the others... I will have this fixed for next version. - Fixed, will be fixed for whenever I next update Pokecube Core.
3) the nests are a partially implemented way to make spawners, they spawn eggs that instantly hatch, they were eventually be planned such that mobs could make them, then you have an area which always has specfic pokemobs spawning in them.

Hello I would like to know if the photo happen normally with only the base mods for this to work (Thut core Pokecube core Pokecube revival and the last one)
So.. my internet has been complete complete trash the last few days, so i decided to try learning how to do the resource pack adding stuff to pass the time.
Long story short I figured it out after reading the "new" instructions and then experimenting with lots trial and error. Made this thing as a test:
Wanted a quick but easy to work with prototype so decided "Hey, Latios and Latias are breedable in pokecube so why not make a pre-evolution for them?". Its using a edited Latias skin and model as a placeholder( at least until I learn to Blender right.. ) but everything for it works so far. It has a 50/50 gender ratio and after quite a bit of testing evolves at level 38 into Latios if its male and Latias if its female.
The only issues ive encountered so far is giving it a sound( somehow I derped that up but im 90% sure thats user error and not a bug ) and a model bug with Latios/Latias when I give it the evolution capability. They'll both have invisible models but still work like normal, yet it doesn't happen when I remove the evolution parameters.. weird.Screenshot for the issue:
All in all im pretty proud I actually got at least 1 working pokemon added with a resource pack~

Wait, so if i made a new pokemon , is it with a resource pack, or is it with the mod....also, if its with the resource pack, does it have to take a models place ,or is it a whole new pokemon added?

Json? I used an xml file for it like the instructions said to for newly added ones and used the json for adding new forms.. wait, could I of actually used json format for newly added ones? also another question, can you add your own moves?
Its with a resource pack and yes it needs a model. I just used a copy of the Latias model from github for testing since I stink with Blender. You can go the alternative form route like I tested with( Made a grass/rock type Sudowoodo and Bonsly to test ) to add a new form like the alola ones. That one I couldn't get the textures working so gave up for now. Other then alternative forms it can be a whole new pokemon( like the Laitel I showed earlier, its pokedex number is 1010 ) and it also gets added to the pokedex from what ive noticed so that's neat. All the info you add is also in the pokedex( aka moves, possible mates, spawn locations, etc ). Shoot, you can even be "That Guy" and add special egg parameters so certain eggs can only be obtained from certain pokemon or just add other pokemon eggs to others... I tested that one by making it possible for two pikachu's laying a mew egg in addition to pichu eggs.
It was glorious.
From the existence of the moves database file I assume adding custom moves is possible, ive yet to test it so don't quote me on that.
Link to the instructions I used is in the OP of this thread too if you wanna check that out.
Edit:
I just remembered theres a types database file too so custom types might also be possible. Never tested so thutmose will have to confirm or deny that one but it looks doable from what I see in the file.
Wait, so the only database edit you made was adding that _mobs_.xml, and it somehow messed up the model/texture for latios/latias?
Hmm, maybe it is something else in your resourcepack, try removing any models/textures for latios and latias from your resourcepack and see if that fixes it, if it does, check the paths you use, maybe there is something strange about them.

Pretty much. I can tell you its paths or anything like that either since I tested everything, it only happens when I add the evolution parameters to the xml file for Laitel. Works for everything else and models aren't invisible at all as long as neither the lines <Evolution Name="Latias" Level="38" Sexe="female"/>
or <Evolution Name="Latios" Level="38" Sexe="male"/> are added to the xml. Still works with them but then Latios and Latias are both invisible.

I suspect it might be due to the way it trys to determine groups of generations of pokemobs, if it cannot determine which generation a mob is, it looks in entity/models and entity/textures for the model/texture, you might need to include models and textures for latios and latias.
To get the mobs, install the resource pack on the github, or use the Pokécube Mobs mod below.
